Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana star spotted at new club
Ngcobo recently parted ways with Sekhukhune United where he only lasted for a season.
Now, according to iDiski Times , Ngcobo is currently in the Mother City to try his luck with Cape Town City.
Cape Town City appear likely to be preparing for life in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
This despite their recent fight to have Marumo Gallants docked points so that they can return to the Betway Premiership.
As things stand, Gallants remain in the Betway Premiership after the PSL DC slapped them with just a R200 000 fine.
Now, having already lost a few of their senior players, including Thabo Nodada, City could well benefit from Ngcobo's experience.
Ngcobo was named the best defender in the league during the 2021-22 season, before he signed for Chiefs where he made 45 appearances during his three-year stint.
He spent a few weeks with Chippa United in the hope of securing a deal, but the lanky defender is now in Cape Town. Njabulo Ngcobo during his time with Kaizer Chiefs. Image: Archived
'Former Sekhukhune United and Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo has arrived in Cape Town to undergo assessment at Cape Town City,' reports the publication.
'Latest update received by iDiski Times is that Ngcobo stopped training with Chippa United a few days ago and is currently in the Mother City to try it out at the Citizens under the watchful eye of head coach Jan Vreman and his technical team.'

AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs set contrasting tones ahead of new campaign
New Kaizer Chiefs transfer Siphesihle Ndlovu is expected to play a pivotal role in stabilising Kaizer Chiefs' midfield and linking play in Nasreddine Nabi's new-look side. Photo: Backpagepix AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs head into the 2025/26 season with contrasting ambitions — Usuthu focusing on a long-term rebuild under Arthur Zwane, while Amakhosi, guided by Nasreddine Nabi, aim to end their trophy drought with a reinforced squad and continental aspirations. 📽️🎨💬 We sat down with Odirile-Thato Thwala the winner of our kit design competition to hear all about what it means to see his vision come to life. #PrimoxAmaZulu #HebeUsuthu #UsuthuTogether AmaZulu wrapped up the 2024/25 season in a respectable sixth position, ending a campaign where flashes of potential were often overshadowed by a lack of consistency. Looking ahead to the new season, Arthur Zwane prepares for his second full term at the helm—this time as the sole head coach after initially sharing the role with former Richards Bay tactician Vusimuzi Vilakazi, who departed during the course of last season. Joining Zwane on the technical team is Simo Dladla, the former head coach of Durban City, who arrives fresh off guiding his side to promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Dladla's arrival is expected to bring renewed energy and tactical variety to the Usuthu setup. Last season, AmaZulu finished as the top KwaZulu-Natal side on the table. With many teams struggling to find stability, Zwane will be targeting more consistency in that department, having seen his side drop key points due to lapses in rhythm and performance. The club's transfer dealings signal a clear long-term vision. A major overhaul of the squad saw several regular players depart, most notably Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Veli Mothwa, as the club seeks to rebuild with fresh faces. Another notable exit was that of midfielder Tshepang Moremi, who joined Orlando Pirates. While the deal may have been financially sound, replacing Moremi's influence in the middle of the park will be a tall order, given his impact last season. Although the current squad may lack experience, it features several promising young talents, including players promoted from the club's reserve side. While instant success may be uncertain, the club's focus on youth development under Zwane's leadership could lay a strong foundation for the future.

The 20-year-old winger has been the subject of increasing transfer interest, with clubs from around the globe reportedly monitoring his situation, thanks to 12 goals and 15 assists last season. The Sharpville-born attacker is strongly linked with Saudi Arabia's Al-Ettifaq, the same team that signed Mohau Nkota in July. Kaizer Chiefs news: 25-goal Nigerian striker and Junior Khanye
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has confirmed the club's pursuit of Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro, who has quietly become one of the most effective forwards in the Betway Premiership over the past three seasons. Amakhosi are eager to secure his services permanently—but face a significant obstacle: Ighodaro remains contracted to Mamelodi Sundowns. The 24-year-old forward spent the last three campaigns on loan from Sundowns, gaining experience and scoring consistently at three different clubs: Chippa United, SuperSport United, and AmaZulu. Ighodaro, who has scored 25 goals in 88 Betway Premiership games, was meant to join Amakhosi as a free agent before the Soweto giants reportedly discovered Sundowns have a one-year extension option on the Nigerian star's expired deal…Full story here. Kaizer Chiefs target Etiosa Ighodaro playing for AmaZulu in the Betway Premiership against Amakhosi. Image: Goal Kaizer Chiefs are still in the process of signing Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman of Cape Town Spurs. Meanwhile, Junior Khanye has commented strongly. As reported in June, the Kaizer Chiefs thought they had secured both players as free agents. However, Cape Town Spurs responded by claiming that the duo is still under contract. Due to Spurs' dramatic relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship (second tier) to the ABC Motsepe (third tier), Kaizer Chiefs followed the PSL's rulebook, which states that relegation to the third tier makes player contracts null and void. The situation has stalled Kaizer Chiefs from announcing and registering the two players. While the legal battle is still underway, Junior Khanye has reviewed the two players' abilities. 'Out of the two Cape Town Spurs players Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly targeting, I really hope they succeed in signing Baartman – he's got the qualities to do well at the club. I'm not as convinced by Velebayi,' Khanye said…Full story here.
