In an interview with DNA India, Soundarya reacted to concerns about the film placing more emphasis on the appearance of female characters rather than giving them meaningful roles.
Soundarya was surprised to hear that, and she really had no time to scroll through such reviews due to being busy counting the box office numbers. 'I think the makers would be the right people [to answer], because an actor is just subjective to someone's vision.
It's made in a very light way and with heart. I don't know kaun hai yeh log jo iss tarah baat kar rahe hai (I don't know who these people are who are talking like this),' she stated.

Rati Agnihotri's son Tanuj Virwani talks about pressures of proving himself in the industry: 'For my mother, they would meet me, but...'

Tanuj Virwani, son of Rati Agnihotri, navigates Bollywood with determination, acknowledging his mother's influence opened doors but securing roles depended on his talent. He values her advice on emotional resilience, crucial for handling the industry's highs and lows. Off-screen, Tanuj prioritizes family, balancing his career with his roles as a husband and father. Tanuj Virwani , son of iconic Bollywood actress Rati Agnihotri , may come from a celebrated film legacy, but his journey in the industry has been one of quiet determination and personal grit. Currently in the spotlight for his role in Rana Naidu 2, Tanuj has opened up about the challenges of carving his own path, the pressure of living up to his mother's name, and the life lessons that have kept him grounded—both on and off screen. In an interview with Bollywood Shaadis, he acknowledged that being a star kid gave him access to people in the industry, but clarified that it never guaranteed work. Tanuj explained that while some were willing to meet him out of respect for his mother, landing roles still depended entirely on his own talent and hard work. He also noted that the nepotism debate wasn't as prominent when he started out, unlike the buzz that followed the Kangana Ranaut-Karan Johar controversy years later. Tanuj further revealed that his mother, Rati Agnihotri, has always been both his closest confidante and toughest critic. Despite their shared background in cinema, they rarely discuss films at home. Instead, their conversations focus on personal growth—how to carry oneself, lead by example, and stay grounded. He shared that when he first told her about his decision to pursue acting, she offered him heartfelt but realistic advice. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If You Need To Kill Time On Your Computer, This Popular Strategy Game Is A Must Forge Of Empires Undo Rati emphasized that while the industry may appear glamorous, it comes with its share of struggles—failures, insecurities, rejection, and emotional toll. Her guidance was less about the craft of acting and more about developing the mental strength needed to survive and succeed in such a challenging space. He also shared that one of the most valuable lessons his mother, Rati Agnihotri, taught him—and one he lives by—is to remain grounded during the highs and not be consumed by negativity during the lows. She stressed the importance of emotional balance, reminding him that both extremes can be unhealthy. Off-screen, Tanuj is also a devoted family man, known for being a loving husband and a doting father.

Bollywood turns cold on new directors: Fewer debut filmmakers in theatres

Hindi film producers have grown increasingly risk-averse over the past three-and-a-half years, betting on familiar names and proven formulae while pulling back on support for debut filmmakers , amid a wave of box-office flops even by seasoned directors. The number of debut filmmakers breaking into Hindi cinema fell to 32 in 2024 from 39 in 2022, according to the data shared by veteran trade analysts. So far in 2025, only 15 first-time Hindi filmmakers have had theatrical releases. This decline has come despite an increase in the total number of Hindi film releases to 221 in 2024 from 194 in 2022. The share of debut directors dropped to 14.5% from 20.1% during this period. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mi Piace Così | Quanto costa perdere peso? Mi Piace Così Undo "Today, producers want to minimise the margin of error," said Ameya Naik, producer and founder of the event management company Fantasy Films. "Gone are the days when a filmmaker could afford to make his or her 'best' film after a few films. Today, a filmmaker's debut film must be his or her 'best' film, as audiences have become more unforgiving than ever," he said. Post-pandemic, producers across geographies have been facing the fundamental challenge of increasing unpredictability in box-office outcomes, with the success ratio of films falling to about 3.2% in 2024. Gross box office collection declined to ₹11,833 crore in 2024 from ₹12,226 crore in 2023, according to Ormax Media, a media and entertainment research firm. Live Events Amid this unpredictability and rising talent costs, Hindi film producers have become averse to backing new stories and directors, industry insiders said. Producers are more interested in exploiting intellectual properties (IPs) of already successful films even as conglomerates, private equity players and asset management companies have acquired high or controlling stakes in entertainment companies across the world. "They are driven more by numbers than creativity. So, they invest in successful IPs by making sequels or remaking them, as they believe familiarity with IPs brings audiences to theatres," said a producer requesting anonymity. This strategy seems to be working. The top three Hindi grossers of 2024 were all franchises and sequels: Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Singham Again. In this context, a Bain & Company Global M&A 2025 report noted that owning quality IPs has been a key factor behind recent mergers and acquisitions in the global media and entertainment industry. In this scenario, producers say it is easier for debut filmmakers in Hindi to find opportunities on streaming platforms than making theatrical debut. "I think for debut filmmakers, the challenges involved in making a theatrical film are higher than those involved in making films for streaming platforms," said Naveen Chandra, founder and CEO of 91 Film Studios, a studio for regional films. This is in stark contrast to what is transpiring in regional cinema where several debut directors are making noteworthy content-driven films.

9 classic 90s anime that deserve an action-packed remake

The 1990s were a golden era for anime, producing a slew of action-packed series that helped define genres, establish tropes, and lay the foundation for today's anime culture. From sword-wielding heroes to space bounty hunters, these shows captivated audiences with their high-energy battles, emotional storytelling, and unforgettable characters. However, despite their iconic status, many of these classics are burdened by the technical limitations of their time—dated animation, inconsistent pacing, and production constraints that prevented some from realizing their full potential. With modern animation technology, improved storytelling standards, and a growing appetite for remakes and reboots, now is the perfect time to revisit these nostalgic gems. A well-crafted remake could breathe new life into these series—reintroducing them to younger audiences and giving long-time fans a visually and emotionally upgraded experience. Inspired in part by a curated list from Game Rant , here are nine classic 1990s action anime that deserve a thoughtful and high-quality modern remake. 1. Flame of Recca The Underrated Ninja Epic With Fiery Potential Originally highlighted by Game Rant for its tournament arcs and ninja lore. Original Release: July 19, 1997 Studio: Pierrot Episodes: 42 Manga By: Nobuyuki Anzai Current Score (MyAnimeList): 7.34 A spiritual successor to Yu Yu Hakusho , Flame of Recca tells the story of Recca Hanabishi, a modern-day teenager who discovers his lineage from a flame-wielding ninja clan. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The series blends traditional ninja lore with supernatural powers, martial arts tournaments, and a deeply personal journey of self-discovery. 2. Berserk (1997) A Dark Fantasy Classic Deserving a Worthy Adaptation Original Release: October 8, 1997 Studio: OLM Episodes: 25 Manga By: Kentaro Miura Current Score (MyAnimeList): 8.59 Kentaro Miura's Berserk is a grim masterpiece that explores the brutal life of Guts, a lone mercenary entangled in a cycle of war, betrayal, and demonic terror. While Game Rant acknowledges the 1997 version as the best adaptation to date, a full remake with modern animation could finally capture the manga's rich, tragic scope. 3. Yu Yu Hakusho The Spirit Detective Saga That Set the Shōnen Standard Original Release: 1992–1994 Studio: Pierrot Episodes: 112 Manga By: Yoshihiro Togashi Current Score (MyAnimeList): 8.46 Recognized by Game Rant as a foundational shōnen, Yu Yu Hakusho stands the test of time in story and characters. However, a visual refresh and refined pacing could elevate this supernatural saga for today's generation of anime fans. 4. Outlaw Star A Space Western Worthy of Revival Original Release: January 1998 Studio: Sunrise Episodes: 26 Manga By: Takehiko Itō Current Score (MyAnimeList): 7.83 Outlaw Star was praised in the Game Rant piece for its fusion of sci-fi and Western themes. A modern remake could build on its legacy, especially in a post- Cowboy Bebop streaming era hungry for stylized space operas. 5. The Big O Noir Meets Mecha in a Memory-Loss Dystopia Original Release: October 13, 1999 Studio: Sunrise Episodes: 26 (Two Seasons) Cited for its unique genre-blending style, The Big O offers a noir-meets-mecha story that's well-suited for a modern comeback. A clearer narrative direction and high-budget animation could bring this cult favorite new acclaim. 6. Revolutionary Girl Utena A Symbolic Masterpiece Ready for Rediscovery Original Release: April 1997 Studio: Episodes: 39 Created By: Be-Papas Current Score (MyAnimeList): 8.22 According to Game Rant , Utena's exploration of identity and gender roles makes it an ideal candidate for a remake. Today's social climate is primed for a reboot that remains faithful to its progressive roots while updating its accessibility. 7. Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water Steampunk Adventure Through Jules Verne's Lens Original Release: 1990 Studio: Gainax & Group TAC Episodes: 39 Game Rant included Nadia for its thematic depth and connection to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea . A remake could enhance its steampunk elements, streamline the pacing, and improve on the sometimes uneven animation. 8. Crows High School Gangs and Gritty Street Justice Original Release: January 1994 Studio: Knack Productions Episodes: OVA series Based on Hiroshi Takahashi's manga, Crows deserves a remake as gritty as the street fights it portrays. Game Rant rightly identified this early 90s OVA as a raw gem awaiting proper adaptation. 9. Blue Seed Mythology, Monsters, and Missed Opportunities Original Release: October 1994 Studios: Production I.G & Ashi Productions Episodes: 26 + OVA Game Rant spotlighted Blue Seed for its mythological approach and urban action, noting that a remake could better explore its fascinating Japanese folklore themes with modern storytelling and aesthetics.
