Captain Shubman Gill impressed with a composed half-century, displaying elegant stroke play and sharp footwork as he anchored the innings on Friday.
Fellow senior batter KL Rahul also looked in fine touch, crafting a confident fifty that underlined his importance in India's middle order.
Together, the duo laid down a marker for India's batting plans going into the England series.
Among the bowlers,
Shardul Thakur
stood out.
The all-rounder used the conditions well, extracting movement off the pitch and troubling the batters with subtle variations. His efforts were rewarded with key wickets, helping to keep the scoring in check and offering selectors a timely reminder of his utility in English conditions.
The match, however, was played in a sombre atmosphere.

Black armbands were worn as a mark of respect and solidarity with the grieving families. The BCCI shared images of the gesture, highlighting the team's tribute to those affected by the disaster.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir was notably absent, having returned home to be with his mother after she suffered a heart attack earlier this week, as reported by TimesofIndia.com.
His absence was keenly felt, but the squad remained focused on preparations as they look ahead to a tough English summer. The intrasquad clash continues to provide a key platform for players to stake their claims ahead of the first Test.

World Rapid And Blitz Team Championships: Arjun Erigaisi's Team MGD1 Claim Rapid Title
Last Updated: The Erigaisi-led side finished at the top of the table, ahead of second-placed Hexamind and Viswanathan Anand-led Freedom came in third. Team MGD1 clinched the Rapid event title at the World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships on Saturday as the Arjun Erigaisi-led side finished at the top of the table, ahead of second-placed Hexamind and Viswanathan Anand-led Freedom came in third. The team led by captain Srinath Narayanan comprised Tsolakidou Stovroula, Pentala Harikrishna, Leon Mendonca, David Anton Guijarro, Pranav and Atharva Tayade in addition to Erigaisi. MGD1, who had claimed the silver and bronze medals in the previous two editions of the event bettered their record to clinch the top podium spot with four wins on the last day of the Rapid event. 'This is very special! With the Indian team in the Olympiad we were the favourites to win and out here with Team MGD1 we were the underdogs. And yet we won gold again," skipper Srinath said following the triumph. 'Team MGD1 is all about Team Spirit. I was having a bad day on day 2 and others stepped up to keep the momentum going. Also Atharvaa's performance was out of this world," Erigaisi added. Despite commendable performances from across the spectrum, it was amateur player Atharvaa Tayade who shone the brightest with a nearly unblemished record at the team event that dictates contingents to include a sub-2000 ELO ranked male and female player each. Tayade remained unbeaten up until the final round in the Rapid section of the event in the United Kingdom to help his side script history with the victory as they became the first India team to clinch the coveted title in London. 'I am really happy! With this team it's mainly about a great culture! Even though I'm an amateur player they didn't make me feel like one," Tayade added. First Published: June 14, 2025, 10:00 IST

It's really important for all of us to get this game time: Prasidh Krishna
As India prepare for their challenging five-Test series against England, starting June 20 at Leeds, pacer Prasidh Krishna has stressed the value of getting quality match time ahead of the contest. Speaking after the opening day of the team's intra-squad practice match in England, Prasidh remarked that such game time is crucial for players who are transitioning from different formats and teams. The tall seamer, who recently returned from injury and enjoyed a remarkable IPL 2025 campaign, is now looking to build momentum and adapt to red-ball conditions in the UK. With Indian players coming together after months of franchise and domestic cricket, the intra-squad clash serves as both a tune-up and a bonding opportunity. IPL Form a Confidence Booster Prasidh, who won the Purple Cap in IPL 2025 as the tournament's top wicket-taker, is carrying confidence from his performances with Gujarat Titans. He pointed out that returning to top-level cricket after a long injury layoff and subsequent surgery was not easy, but the IPL allowed him to find rhythm and belief. He now hopes to carry that form into the Test series, particularly in conditions that favour pace and movement. Understanding When to Switch On Reflecting on the mental demands of being part of a competitive national setup, Prasidh said players have to be smart about when to stay locked in and when to relax. He shared that it's unrealistic to stay focused all the time, especially when not playing every match, but it's important to be ready when opportunities arise. He emphasised that cricket is full of unpredictable moments, and players must learn to sense situations and stay mentally alert when needed. Early Signs of Team Cohesion According to Prasidh, the intra-squad match has been intense and productive, with both batters and bowlers showing good form. He felt the pitch offered good assistance to bowlers, while the batters, including Shubman Gill and KL Rahul, played with composure. Shardul Thakur was also among the wickets. He said the squad was enjoying the time together, sharing memories and experiences, and focusing on building a relaxed but competitive team environment ahead of the high-stakes England series.
