WAITROSE is making a huge change to its loyalty scheme as it adds a new perk but shoppers will be divided.
The supermarket is offering shoppers the chance to borrow a reusable coffee cup so they can redeem their free coffee when shopping as part of a new trial.

Shoppers will have seven days to return the cup to a designated collection point or they will be charged a £3 penalty.
The trial will reduce plastic waste as part of a 'circular' system.
The scheme will be available in nine branches before it can be rolled out more widely.
It is understood that its store in Newark is one of the shops taking part in the trial.
To 'Borrow a Free Cup' shoppers will need to tap their MyWaitrose card.
They can then fill the cup from Waitrose's hot drinks machine as usual.
A Waitrose spokesperson said: 'We're currently conducting a reusable cup trial in nine of our branches - it kicked off this week and is available for MyWaitrose members to use when redeeming their free coffee, or for our cafe customers to use if purchasing one.'
Shoppers who bring their own cup will still be able to claim their free coffee.
The only requirement for the reusable cups is that they fit under the nozzle of the self-service coffee machine.
What other changes has Waitrose made in store?
The move is the latest update to the supermarket's free hot drink offer after it changed its free coffee terms and conditions in January.
Shopper reveals the 'best time' to hit Waitrose for yellow sticker bargains, as she bags strawberries and milk for 69p
Previously the posh supermarket only offered the free drink to shoppers who bought something in store first.
This is the same rule as was initially brought in when the deal was first launched in 2013.
Shoppers still needed to bring a reusable cup in order to bag the freebie.
Waitrose brought back the free coffee perk in October 2022 after it was axed in 2017 to cut costs.
Supermarket loyalty schemes - which has one?
MOST UK supermarkets have loyalty schemes so customers can build up points and save money while they shop.
Here we round up what saving programmes you'll find at the big brands. Iceland: Unlike other stores, you don't collect points with the Iceland Bonus Card. Instead, you load it up with money and Iceland will give you £1 for every £20 you save.

Waitrose: myWaitrose also doesn't allow you to collect points but instead you'll get access to free hot drinks, and discounts off certain brands in store.
Supermarket staff handed out cups to customers after they had paid for their shopping and there was no minimum spend.
The move left some members fuming while others criticised it and pointed out that you could buy a small item, such as a banana, to get the free drink.
Last August Waitrose trialled recyclable disposable coffee cups in ten of its stores.
It originally removed disposable cups from its stores in 2018 to reduce waste.
The change meant that only shoppers who brought their own cup could claim their free coffee.

Lidl shoppers convinced there's hidden figure in store's logo - and now can't unsee it

Despite having been around for several years, Lidl shoppers are only just realising that there's a hidden figure hiding inside the supermarket's well-known logo German supermarket chain Lidl is renowned for budget friendly options which span a range of essential departments, from food and drink to cleaning supplies, baby products and more. It's been named one of the cheapest supermarkets in the UK for several years in a row. ‌ Originally founded in 1932, it wasn't until 1973 that Lidl became the discount supermarket store known and loved to this day. Its logo is instantly recognisable, with the company name displayed in a dark blue font with the 'i' in a distinctive red colour. ‌ It's contained inside a bright yellow circle with a red border, typically on a square background in the same blue shade as the word 'Lidl' - but some shoppers are convinced there's more to the logo than meets the eye. ‌ Some companies reflect what they do in clever ways with their logos and branding - for example, the FedEx logo which famously - albeit subtly - incorporates an arrow into its name to highlight its delivery capabilities. But some signs and symbols are entirely unintentional, and thought up by customers themselves. This seems to be the case with Lidl's logo. What is the hidden picture in Lidl's logo? Taking to Reddit, one user shared his observation and said that he was convinced that there was a 'dog playing piano' hiding within the iconic logo. ‌ "Do you guys also see the dog playing piano in the Lidl logo?" they wrote on the post as they shared a photo of a Lidl plastic bag with the logo on it. They went on to explain: "I saw on Insta that people are saying the Lidl logo looks like a dog playing the piano. The 'L' is the piano in this case, and the dog is the 'I' with the tail touching the D." ‌ Several people quickly took to the comments of the post, with many being blown away by what they now could see. "Now that you mention it," one person said. Someone else went on to say: "Nah, that's a cat." "C**p, now I can't unsee it anymore," a third person said. A fourth user also shared: "I'd seen the claim earlier, but I needed the explanation to find it." ‌ Another user wrote: "The first time I saw this, it was still funny. Now I've lost count." One parent went on to share: "Years ago, when my teenager was still a toddler, he once said we were at the store with the doggy. I spent ages trying to figure out why he called it 'the store with the doggy.' So I asked, and then he pointed to the slanted I in the logo now. Ever since then, that's all I see." However, not everyone agreed as someone else said: "I see what's meant, but I think it's a bit far-fetched." Not everyone was able to spot it, as another user claimed: "I don't see it. Sorry."

As our homes become taller and closer together, Lidl have been finding innovative solutions to help keep the onlookers out. For only £2.99, Lidl have released new Livarno Home Window Privacy Films. The new product is set to launch on August 14 and will be sure to fly off the shelves. The reason to buy Privacy can be required at home for a number of reasons, and for many it can be the only option. For many, curtains and blinds are too costly and an inefficient way of blocking out onlookers. What's more, not all windows are uniform in size, and so finding blinds to fit some windows can be an interior design nightmare. 4 Curtains and blinds can be an interior design nightmare Credit: Getty As a result, privacy film such as Lidl's, which can be cut to size, is a great solution, in particular because it is reusable. The easy to apply self-adhesive makes protecting your home has never been easier. The rolls come in four different varieties to fit any interior, and come in rolls of 67.5cm wide and 200cm long. As a result, for many windows, there would be no need to awkwardly try to align two rolls together or pattern match.' And unlike blinds and curtains, window film is also easy to clean – it can simply be wiped down with household cleaning products. Lidl Launches £7.99 Extension Lead to Rival Screwfix's £39.99 Gadget Film over curtains People tend to use privacy glass for multiple reasons, and there are many options on the market. Privacy glass films can be either reflective or frosted. Reflective glass helps to achieve privacy by providing an appearance on one side of the glass, whilst allowing vision from the other side, meaning those who use it can still look out without hindering their view - only the view of onlookers. 4 Films can be an easy way to reflect heat without blocking the view Credit: Getty The film works on the light balance, with the side of the film that is brightest exhibiting the reflective properties. During daylight hours, this is always the side of the film facing outwards, making it ideal for daytime privacy. Therefore, the film is an ideal alternative to blinds or curtains which, when drawn, block the view both ways, whilst also making rooms dark. These films are designed to allow good light transmission, ensuring that a good level of natural light is allowed to enter the room whilst also maintaining a view. 4 Lidl's cost-effective option is only £2.99 Credit: Getty For some people, ultimate privacy is wanted, and so two-way frosted film can be used. Once applied, this versatile film gives windows the appearance of acid etched or sandblasted glass, preventing vision from both sides of the pane whilst allowing high levels of light to pass through. It is a stylish solution to privacy, while still allowing light to enter the building and can be cut to the exact size specifications. Yet, privacy is not the only purpose for windows films. Some films have solar control benefits to help lower heat buildup in rooms by reflecting the heat out of a room. This means they can be the perfect solution to keeping rooms cooler in the summer months, such as bedrooms.

Walkers is launching two permanent new crisp flavours for first time in decades

For the last year, Walkers has been keeping a huge secret from crisp fans. They've been quietly developing two brand new flavours for their permanent range – and this is kind of a big deal, as the brand hasn't added anything new to its core line-up in decades. Salted crisps were first launched by Walkers in 1948, with Cheese & Onion crisps coming along in 1954. These were followed by Salt & Vinegar in 1967. Other classic flavours like Prawn Cocktail, Roast Chicken and Smoky Bacon are thought to have been introduced in the 70s. But as of this week this week, shoppers will be able to get their hands on Sticky Teriyaki and Masala Chicken flavours. Walkers claims they've spent the last 12 months working on 'rigorous flavour testing' to bring these crisps to life, which involved a six-step process. They initially started out with 63 different flavour submissions, before the team finally narrowed it down to just two. And they're expecting both of the new products to be a big success, as research carried out by the crisp giants found that 73% of consumers would rather buy Masala Chicken crisps than the classic Prawn Cocktail ones, while 65% picked Sticky Teriyaki over Cheese & Onion. In fact, following a taste test, 49% of crisp lovers admitted they preferred the new 'bold' and 'innovative' flavours over the entirety of the core Walkers selection. That's some serious fighting talk right there… The new flavours will be available in supermarkets across the UK from the week of August 11. More Trending But if you're curious to hear more about how they taste before then, Walkers claims the Sticky Teriyaki crisps are both 'sweet and tangy', and the flavour will 'hit your senses'. And the Masala Chicken ones are said to have a 'rich and creamy' taste, giving you a 'bite-sized' version of the UK's favourite Indian dish, Tikka Masala. Wayne Newton, senior marketing director at Walkers adds: 'Our development team has been on a mission for the past year to find two new flavours that meet the highest standards. View More » 'After thousands of crisps crunched, flavours tested, and bags rustled, we're pleased to bring something entirely new to the table with Sticky Teriyaki and Masala Chicken.' Lidl has just introduced three new items into its bakery Lidl shared a look at the new selection on TikTok saying: 'New bakery special guests.' They went on to reveal a new Pain Suisse priced at 79p, a 99p Tiramisu Loaf, and a Cookies and Cream doughnut that's £1.49. Fans have already hailed the new items 'divine', 'gorgeous' and 'incredible'. Waitrose launched 'mesmerising' retro cake from 1930s The supermarket has teamed up with renowned cake maker, Fiona Cairns, to create a Lambeth-style cake, which feature a very specific decoration style, all to do with the way the icing is piped. The over-piping technique has roots in Europe, dating back to the 19th Century, but was largely popularised by cake decorator Joseph Lambeth in the 1930s thanks to his book, The Lambeth Method of Cake Decoration & Practical Pastries. Each of the Vintage Style Lemon & Raspberry Lambeth Cakes available from cost £65, serve 32-34 people, and are made to order, requiring eight days' notice. Terry's has teased a 'top secret' new Chocolate Orange flavour Terry's shared the news that it has something new coming on its Instagram account. They posted with a picture of a golden envelope, with the caption: 'Sealed, secret, and seriously delicious. Not long now…' Some think this is a new chocolate caramel flavour that has been spotted in shops, while others have demanded a pistachio one too. Do you have a story to share?
