Diriyah Company woos UK investors with London center
Diriyah Company is launching a new marketing initiative at one of London's most prestigious locations to showcase the project.
The Diriyah House Experience Center will be hosted at One Hyde Park, a premier business address in Knightsbridge near Harrods. It will provide an immersive experience for those interested in opportunities in Diriyah, one of Saudi Arabia's giga-projects located on the outskirts of Riyadh.
The Diriyah House Experience Center's official opening is scheduled for the beginning of July. The center will operate as a co-branded hub operated by Sotheby's International Realty, the UK company originally founded by Sotheby's art dealers.
Sotheby's International Realty has recently entered the Saudi market and chose Diriyah as a key launchpad, already marketing branded residences for prestigious hospitality names such as The Ritz-Carlton, Corinthia, and Baccarat — all part of the landmark developments taking shape in Diriyah.
The Diriyah House Experience Center will include a state-of-the-art marketing suite featuring a masterplan model and flexible model display. It will bring the 'City of Earth' to life for a wider global audience. Diriyah Company Group CEO Jerry Inzerillo said: 'We are delighted to open this high-profile and prestigious experience center in the heart of London. This prestigious London address enables us to share Diriyah's story on a global stage in a truly world-class setting, strengthening our international outreach as we build one of the world's greatest gathering places, rooted in the history, heritage and culture of the Kingdom.'
George Azar, chairman and CEO of Sotheby International Realty, Dubai, the UK, and Saudi Arabia, added: 'We are proud to collaborate with Diriyah Company on this landmark initiative and to support the launch of the Diriyah House Experience Center at One Hyde Park. As their partners, we are pleased to offer our experience and expertise in presenting ultra-prime real estate to a global audience. With a strong foothold in the UK's super-prime market, this collaboration allows us to do what we do best — represent the world's most exceptional properties while acting as local experts with global reach.'
Through this partnership, we look forward to connecting discerning investors and stakeholders in the UK with the extraordinary vision and opportunities emerging in Diriyah.'
The announcement of the center follows a successful month-long activation by Diriyah Company at Harrods in London in July 2024. The campaign featured a showcase of Diriyah's master plan models and a supporting out-of-home marketing campaign across the city.
This international engagement reflects the growing global appetite for investment in the City of Earth and reinforces Diriyah's commitment to connecting with the international investment community.
Located on the outskirts of Riyadh and backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Diriyah is an integrated urban development project covering 14 square kilometers. It includes building homes for around 100,000 residents and is expected to create nearly 180,000 jobs. Its ambition is to attract approximately 50 million visits annually, contributing an estimated SR70 billion ($18.6 billion) to Saudi Arabia's GDP. Diriyah Company does not have any permanent establishment or a place of business in the UK. The Diriyah House Experience Center is operated by Sotheby's International Realty for the sole purpose of marketing Diriyah' s projects.

Britain to cut companies' energy bills in new industrial strategy
LONDON: Britain will aim to cut the electricity bills of thousands of companies under a new industrial strategy to be published on Monday, heeding calls from business to lower high energy costs that they say have damaged competitiveness and hindered growth. Under an industrial strategy for the decade 2025-2035, the government plans to cut the bills of electricity-intensive manufacturers by up to 25 percent from 2027, a move it said could benefit more than 7,000 businesses. The government has made boosting Britain's anaemic growth a key priority. But lawmakers and business leaders had highlighted the sky-high energy costs many companies face as a hindrance to that aim, with industry body Make UK saying government should scrap climate levies imposed on firms. Britain has been under pressure to do more to support its key industries and bolster competitiveness as the United States and the European Union also seek to do likewise, in a trade landscape upended by US President Donald Trump's tariffs. Alongside the strategy, five sectoral plans for areas such as advanced manufacturing, creative industries and clean energy are also set to be published. The Industrial Strategy focuses on eight previously identified sectors of strength for Britain, which also include defense and financial services. The government said it would exempt energy-intensive manufacturers from levies like the Renewables Obligation to boost their international competitiveness. 'Tackling energy costs and fixing skills has been the single biggest ask of us from businesses and the greatest challenge they have faced – this government has listened,' Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said in a statement. The government said the energy measures would be funded through reforms to the energy system, without raising household bills or taxes. The scope and eligibility for the scheme will be finalized after a consultation. Make UK said the industrial strategy was a 'giant and much needed step forward' that also tackled a skills shortage in Britain's workforce and access to capital. The Confederation of British Industry said it was an 'unambiguous, positive signal' that would provide a 'bedrock for growth' The industrial strategy, Britain's first in eight years, will expand the state-owned British Business Bank's capacity to channel investment into smaller companies, and provide an extra 1.2 billion pounds ($1.61 billion) a year on skills by 2028-29. The government added it would cut regulatory burdens on businesses, spend more on research and development and speed up planning processes.

The Public Investment Fund has established Expo 2030 Riyadh Co., a new organization to oversee Expo 2030, ensuring effective planning, execution and the legacy of one of the world's most prestigious global events. Expo 2030 will mark a significant milestone for Saudi Arabia, showcasing the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goals, including aspirations for economic diversification, cultural exchange and global collaboration. The creation of a dedicated entity highlights the importance of the event and the need for a focused approach to managing its extensive and complex operations. The company will be responsible for the complete planning, coordination and execution of Expo 2030. Its roles include event planning and operations, stakeholder engagement, promotion and marketing, sustainability and legacy development. Saudi Arabia has emphasized global collaboration as a key aspect of Vision 2030, and Expo 2030 provides a platform for international companies to contribute in various ways. Expo 2030 serves as a platform to position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for innovation, culture and business. A specialized company ensures the Kingdom can compete with other major global expos and deliver an unparalleled experience. International companies are expected to play a significant role in the new company's operations and in Expo 2030. Saudi Arabia has emphasized global collaboration as a key aspect of Vision 2030, and Expo 2030 provides a platform for international companies to contribute in various ways. Global engineering, construction, and technology firms will likely be involved in designing and building the Expo 2030 site, and its associated infrastructure. The selection of Talal Al-Marri as the company's head likely stems from his expertise, leadership qualities, and alignment with the objectives of both the Public Investment Fund and Vision 2030. I have known Al-Marri for many years, dating back to when he led Saudi Aramco's European operations. During that time, I interacted with him while BMG was advising DHL on exploring a partnership with Aramco for a regional logistical hub. His professionalism and contributions during meetings with Aramco President and CEO Amin Al-Nasser, along with his colleagues in Davos in 2020, are particularly noteworthy. While specific details about his appointment may not be publicly disclosed, the decision was likely influenced by several key factors, including his proven leadership experience and expertise in both global and local contexts. The Public Investment Fund likely selected him for his ability to effectively represent the organization and ensure that the company operates in line with the PIF's vision of excellence and innovation. As always, the PIF plays a crucial role in Saudi Arabia's economic diversification. This company will help ensure that Expo 2030 aligns with the broader goals of Vision 2030, such as enhancing tourism, investment and international partnerships. In my opinion, the decision to establish Expo 2030 Riyadh Co., led by Al-Marri, will undoubtedly provide another boost for Expo 2030. • Basil M.K.
