Royal Academy of Management marks achievements of 35 C-suite executives
MUSCAT: The Royal Academy of Management (RAM) celebrated the achievements of 35 C-suite executives, all private sector leaders, who recently completed the National CEO Programme. Held under the auspices of Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Royal Academy of Management, the graduation ceremony reflected Oman's ongoing commitment to enhance leadership capabilities at the national level, which is in line with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040 and the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to invest in human capital and strengthen institutional excellence.
The National CEO Programme is a flagship initiative designed to equip private sector executives with the tools to lead effectively in today's complex and dynamic work environment.
The participants undertook an eight-month immersive learning journey consisting of five core modules, interactive workshops, coaching sessions, field visits, and exposure to global business trends. Delivered in partnership with the reputed London Business School (LBS) in the United Kingdom,the curriculum focused on strategic leadership, digital transformation, innovation, talent development, and building agile and resilient organisations
Hiba Yasser Al Henai, Programme Manager at the Royal Academy of Management, emphasised the national significance of the National CEO Programme and its alignment with Oman's ambition to empower future-ready leaders.
She noted that since the launch of the programme in 2014, The National CEO Programme underscored the requirement for continued investment in executive talent to boost the private sector's competitiveness and inspire future generations.
Helen Kerkentzes, Associate Dean for Executive Education at LBS, praised the fruitful collaboration with RAM, enabling the delivery of a truly distinguished learning experience.
She expressed her pride in the partnership and commended the joint efforts that contributed to the programme's success. Kerkentzes also highlighted the comprehensive and multifaceted nature of the learning journey, which blended academic theory with practical application. She emphasised the value of site visits and engagement with global experts, allowing participants to benefit from diverse perspectives on leadership, innovation, and business strategy.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the graduates, Eng. Hamad bin Abdullah Al Maamari, Executive General Manager, Technical Services and Decarbonisation Executive, Oman LNG, reflected on the transformative nature of the experience he shared with his fellow participants. He highlighted several key moments during the programme that significantly shaped their leadership development and broadened their strategic perspective. In his closing remarks, he extended his appreciation to the teams at RAM and LBS, as well as the subject matter experts, speakers, and facilitators who enriched the programme with global insights and international best practices.
The National CEO Programme incorporated a diverse mix of learning methodologies to ensure deep understanding and effective applications of theory. Individual coaching sessions helped participants explore their leadership styles and develop new ways of thinking by simulating real-life executive environments. These scenarios challenged participants to build high-performing teams and lead organisations capable of adapting and competing in an ever-evolving landscape.
Reflecting on his experience, Adnan Ahmed Hamed Al Shuaili, Co-founder and CEO of eMushrif, said, 'The programme offered a series of enriching hands-on experiences, including in-depth case studies of leading global corporations and insights into how strategic decisions are made. It also featured immersive field visits that introduced us to international business cultures, making it an exceptional executive programme.'

Pact to advance urban air mobility in Oman
MUSCAT, JUNE 6 AeroVecto, an Oman-based startup specialising in sustainable air mobility solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Romanian-based LYNEports, a digital planning platform for advanced air mobility infrastructure, to support the rollout of hybrid electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aviation services in Oman and the wider GCC region. The partnership is set to take advanced air mobility services, currently in its nascency in Oman, to the next level. A number of Omani startups, in partnership with key players in the global international, are gearing up to introduce uncrewed air mobility services for, among other fields, cargo deliveries, passenger transportation, ambulance services, medical deliveries and even disaster relief. AeroVecto is credited with developing Shuttle, a hybrid eVTOL aircraft purposely built for mass public transportation. According to the company, the high-capacity aircraft will enhance current ground-based public transport by enabling convenient point-to-point travel. With a focus on passenger volume and comfort, Shuttle aims to revolutionise urban and intercity mobility, introducing a new era of clean, efficient and scalable air transport. Through the partnership, LYNEports will assist in planning and simulating AeroVecto's Shuttle network, ensuring each site meets aviation-grade safety standards, operational viability and regulatory requirements. Furthermore, by leveraging LYNEports' AI-driven platform, AeroVecto can evaluate ideal locations, model flight routes and visualise integrated transport systems, accelerating the adoption of advanced air mobility across Oman. Shipbuilding hub to boost Musandam's economy
In a major boost for Oman's marine and fisheries industries, Musandam Global Investment Company SAOC (MGIC) and its Turkish partners have signed binding commercial terms and a shareholders' agreement to establish Musandam Drydock and Marine Industries LLC, a shipbuilding and repair facility in Musandam Governorate. The deal was formalised in the presence of Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Governor of Musandam. The project, backed by an initial investment of $15 million, will support the construction and maintenance of aquaculture cages, fishing vessels, tugboats, and service and transport vessels up to 35 metres in length. It is set to serve both domestic and regional markets, aligning with Oman's strategy to enhance food security and marine industrial capacity under Oman Vision 2040. In an exclusive interview with the Observer, Raed al Shehhi, Chairman of MGIC, emphasised the project's strategic importance, "The launch of Musandam Drydock and Marine Industries LLC is aligned with our long-term strategy to build an integrated and diversified economy in Musandam. This project directly supports Oman Vision 2040 by fostering sustainable industrial growth, enhancing food security through support to fisheries, and creating meaningful employment.' According to Al Shehhi, the first phase of the project will include the development of slipways, fabrication workshops, and maintenance yards tailored for small to medium-sized vessels. The company will also build infrastructure for manufacturing and servicing aquaculture cages and coastal fishing boats. 'Phase one focuses on establishing the core shipbuilding and repair infrastructure. Future phases will likely include expansion to handle larger vessel classes, integration of smart technologies, and development of ancillary industries,' he explained. The decision to invest in this sector was driven by strong market signals, both nationally and regionally. 'The Sultanate of Oman has seen a steady increase in demand for modern fishing vessels and aquaculture infrastructure, in line with its national food security strategy,' Al Shehhi noted. "Regionally, the GCC marine sector is expanding, particularly in sustainable fisheries and coastal transport. However, there's a shortage of specialised facilities for these services — and we're stepping in to fill that gap.' Equally important to the project is its social and economic impact on the local community. MGIC has committed to an aggressive Omanisation and skills development programme, focusing on Musandam's youth. 'We are creating 50 direct jobs for the local community in the initial phase alone,' Al Shehhi said. 'We are also developing specialised courses in welding, marine mechanics, vessel design, and industrial safety, along with apprenticeship pathways. The aim is not just employment, but cultivating a generation of skilled professionals who can drive long-term growth in the marine sector.' The company's Turkish partners bring substantial technical know-how to the initiative. Their expertise in shipbuilding and modular construction will play a vital role in setting up world-class facilities and transferring knowledge to Omani technicians and engineers. 'Our partners bring experience in marine engineering and will support us in applying international best practices across the board — from project management and quality assurance to environmental compliance,' Al Shehhi affirmed. Beyond industrial development, the drydock project is expected to position Musandam as a strategic hub for marine services, leveraging its unique geography and proximity to key shipping lanes. The move represents another milestone in Oman's broader strategy to unlock regional development and local value creation in its northernmost governorate.
