Strictly star Nick Knowles, 62, marries Katie Dadzie, 34, in lavish ceremony

Congratulations are in order for Nick Knowles, who has tied the knot with his girlfriend, Katie Dadzie.
The DIY SOS presenter, 62, wed his 34-year-old partner this weekend in a romantic ceremony in Essex.
Nick, who also took part in Strictly Come Dancing last series, got hitched at Braxted Park Estate, which is somewhat of a celebrity wedding hotspot, given that it's also where Rylan Clark married Dan Neal in 2015.
Their lavish celebrations are rumoured to have cost six figures, with photos from their special day showing a large number of guests.
Snaps capture Nick and Katie's loved ones outside the venue, gathering for photos.

Katie, who co-owns lingerie brand Boa Boa with her now-husband, opted to defy tradition with her dress.
Straying from convention, she looked stunning in a strapless white gown adorned with blue flowers.
She wore her brunette locks in a chic updo, accessorising simply with a silver necklace and, of course, her latest addition to the jewellery collection, a dazzling ring.
Meanwhile, Nick also pushed against the typical groom attire, looking dapper in a blush pink tuxedo with black lapels, completing the look with a bowtie.
A source previously shared that 'no expense had been spared' for Nick and Katie's nuptials.
'Nick and Katie's big day is taking place at Braxted Park, a stunning location in Essex,' they spilled to The Sun ahead of the lovebirds saying 'I do.'
'He's invited all of his famous pals, including his Strictly co-stars, so it's going to be a proper showbiz bash.
'Katie's dress is beautiful and is going to blow people away. Nick and Katie's guests will be treated to delicious food and amazing entertainment – really no expense has been spared.'
It's currently unknown which of Nick's Strictly pals attended his wedding, but he featured on the BBC dance series alongside JB Gill, Tasha Ghouri, Wynne Evans, Wynne Evans, Jamie Borthwick, Sam Quek, and eventual winner Chris McCausland.
Alas, Nick's own Strictly journey came to a sour end when he suffered a series of brutal injuries in training.
He was forced to sit out of Movie Week with his pro partner, Luba Mushtuk, returning with a Paddington-themed routine the following Saturday, which ended up being his final hurrah.
At the start of 2025, Nick revealed it was going to take eight months for him to recover fully after undergoing two surgeries: one to reattach his bicep and one to reconstruct his knee.
By his side through the rehabilitation process, though, has been Katie.
Following his Strictly stint, then-fiancée Katie warned that Nick was 'a shell of a man' due to being 'exhausted'.
She started dating him in 2021, having met when their children became friends at a play centre.
Nick has three sons and one daughter, whom he shares with two ex-wives, making Katie his third marriage.
He has long been vocal about the backlash to his relationship with Katie, who is 28 years his junior.
The TV personality previously told The Times that Katie 'occasionally wondered if it's all worth it' due to 'horrible' racist abuse she receives online.
Nick said: 'It's really unpleasant and unfair,' with Katie also accused of being a 'golddigger' in her Instagram comments.
'Katie's a mum of two, she's super intelligent and capable, within just eight months her lingerie brand was stocked by Next.
'But you just get people being properly vile. So you understand when she goes, 'I don't know if I want to be around this'.'
Nick was then asked if he tried to change her mind in those moments, to which he replied: 'No. I understand. But in the end we love each other very much.'
Speaking in 2023 about the moment he popped the question, Nick revealed he actually used a Haribo ring.
Nick shared on The One Show that Katie was travelling to see him in New Orleans and he realised it was 'the ideal time' to propose, but he 'didn't have a ring.'

Therefore, he had to improvise with the gummy sweet, as it was 'all [he] had' on him. More Trending
Ever the fixer, however, Nick still managed to make the moment memorable, taking a pair of scissors to the 'ring' to give it a jewel on top.
He joked it was 'a dangerous move, as she does like Haribo', and the engagement ring could easily have been eaten instead.

Fortunately, Katie happily accepted his odd proposal and even kept the Haribo ring, storing it in a plastic bag at home before potentially getting it encased in perspex as a souvenir.

Eastenders actor suspended by BBC after making disabled slur

EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick has been suspended by the BBC after using a disabled slur on the set of Strictly Come Dancing. The 30-year-old star made the offensive comment during filming of the show's Blackpool week last November, according to the Sun on Sunday. He said he was 'deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused'. The BBC said that his language was 'entirely unacceptable and in no way reflects the values or standards we hold and expect' and took the step of suspending him. In video footage obtained by the publication the actor used the term 'm--------s' to describe residents of Blackpool. He was reported to be backstage during rehearsals with Wynne Evans, 53, when he made the comment, leading the opera singer to say: 'Oh my God.' Borthwick, in a statement, said: 'I want to apologise sincerely and wholeheartedly for the words I used in the video showing my reaction to making it through Blackpool week on Strictly. 'I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused. It is no excuse, but I did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning.' Borthwick added that he was 'deeply embarrassed'. Disability charity Scope called on the Eastenders actor to educate himself and reflect on what he had said. Warren Kirwan, the organisation's media manager, said: 'We hope he takes the opportunity to get to know the reality of disabled people's lives.' It comes after Evans was taken off the Strictly tour back in January following claims he made an inappropriate sexual comment. The opera singer was then told that his BBC Radio Wales contract was not being renewed following a four-month investigation. Evans then apologised for language that he called 'inappropriate and unacceptable'. The BBC said Evans was 'not returning to the mid-morning show on BBC Radio Wales and there are currently no plans to work with him'

EastEnders star suspended by BBC after disabled slur on Strictly set

A video emerged of the actor, who plays Jay Brown on the soap, using the term to describe the people of Blackpool, the town where the show was being filmed, The Sun on Sunday first reported. Borthwick is said to have made the offensive remark on a phone video while the Strictly cast were at Blackpool Tower Ballroom last November. A spokesperson for the BBC said: 'This language is entirely unacceptable and in no way reflects the values or standards we hold and expect at the BBC. 'We have robust processes in place for this.' Warren Kirwan, media manager at disability equality charity Scope, said: 'Attitudes and language like this are never acceptable. 'It's not just ignorant and hurtful to disabled people, it has wider consequences. 'Negative attitudes hold disabled people back in all areas of life, from getting a job to shopping on the high street. 'Mr Borthwick needs to reflect on what he said, educate himself and do better. 'We hope he takes the opportunity to get to know the reality of disabled people's lives.' Borthwick won the Strictly 2023 Christmas special with Nancy Xu, and won the best actor gong at the Inside Soap Awards in September that year, with the show recognised with the best storyline for Loving And Losing Lola, about character Lola Pearce-Brown's brain tumour diagnosis. As part of the storyline, Borthwick, as Lola's husband Jay, and Emma Barton, as Honey Mitchell, ran the London Marathon in character in honour of Lola after her death. His suspension comes after Wynne Evans last week said he had been dropped by the BBC, following an apology saying that he used 'inappropriate language' during the launch of the Strictly Come Dancing tour. The Welsh opera singer, 53, known for the insurance advertisements, will no longer be a BBC Radio Wales presenter, he announced on May 30. Earlier this year, he apologised for language that he called 'inappropriate and unacceptable' after The Mail On Sunday reported that Evans was heard making a remark to a woman in a video filmed during the Strictly launch event. It is understood he was given a warning over the remark by tour producers. In January, he said: 'I've agreed with the BBC that I'll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing. 'I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. 'Apologies to those I won't get to see at the remaining performances and I'm grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.' The singer, who performed in the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Of The Opera and also won 2023's Celebrity MasterChef, told The Sun on Sunday earlier this month that the Strictly comment was not sexual or directed at one of the female cast but was a nickname for fellow contestant Borthwick. He told the paper: 'I didn't see the statement, Old Spit-roast Boy was a nickname for Jamie Borthwick. I'm not a bad guy, I'm not a misogynist, I'm not any of these things.' Evans added: 'And so I went, 'I'm so sorry'. And that was taken as a formal apology, so the press team issued a statement. I didn't see it. 'When I read the apology within the context of the story as it had been written, I was absolutely horrified.' The Strictly tour saw contestants of the most recent series return to the dancefloor, including Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, actress Sarah Hadland, JLS singer JB Gill, The X Factor winner Shayne Ward and Gladiators star Montell Douglas. They toured the country alongside Strictly judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse, performing in cities including Birmingham, Sheffield, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and London.

EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick suspended over ableist slur

The EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick has been suspended by the BBC after using an ableist slur on the set of Strictly Come Dancing. A video emerged of the actor, who plays Jay Brown on the long-running soap, using the term to describe the people of Blackpool, the town where the programme was being filmed, according to the Sun on Sunday. On Saturday, a spokesperson for the BBC said: 'This language is entirely unacceptable and in no way reflects the values or standards we hold and expect at the BBC. We have robust processes in place for this.' Warren Kirwan, media manager at disability equality charity Scope, said: 'Attitudes and language like this are never acceptable. 'It's not just ignorant and hurtful to disabled people, it has wider consequences. Negative attitudes hold disabled people back in all areas of life, from getting a job to shopping on the high street. 'Mr Borthwick needs to reflect on what he said, educate himself and do better. We hope he takes the opportunity to get to know the reality of disabled people's lives.' Borthwick won the Strictly 2023 Christmas special with Nancy Xu. The 30-year-old took part in the most recent series of Strictly, where he was paired with the professional dancer Michelle Tsiakkas. They were eliminated in week 10, finishing seventh. Borthwick, who joined EastEnders in 2006 and is one of the longest-serving actors on the show, told the Sun on Sunday: 'I want to apologise sincerely and wholeheartedly for the words I used in the video showing my reaction to making it through Blackpool week on Strictly. I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused. 'It is no excuse, but I did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning. That is on me completely. Now I am aware, I am deeply embarrassed to have used the term and directed it in the way I did. It was wrong. 'When I made the video, I was excited and caught up in the moment. Again, that is no excuse. But my regrettable actions are not a true reflection of my views, or who I am. 'I enjoyed every minute of my time in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and the town itself. The people of Blackpool have always been amazing with the Strictly crew, dancers and cast members. I know they will be again for this year's show and those in years to come. I am truly sorry.' Wynne Evans, who also competed in last year's edition of Strictly, said last week he had been dropped by the BBC, after apologising for using 'inappropriate language' during the launch of the Strictly Come Dancing tour. The Welsh opera singer, 53, will no longer be a BBC Radio Wales presenter, he announced last week. Earlier this year, he apologised for language that he called 'inappropriate and unacceptable' after the Mail on Sunday reported that he was heard making a remark to a woman in a video filmed during the Strictly launch event.
