According to an ESPNcricinfo report, the BCCI medical team has advised to rest Bumrah for the fifth Test in order to safeguard his back, keeping the long-term in mind. Notably, Bumrah missing the fifth Test is not a surprise decision. Before the start of the series, it was decided by the Indian team management, medical team and Bumrah that ace Indian pacer would play only three of the five Tests and his workload will be managed. During the ongoing Tour of England, Bumrah played in the first Test at Headingley, missed the second Test at Edgbaston, and played in the third and fourth Test at Lord's and Old Trafford respectively. The 31-year-old Bumrah was far from his best and his pace was down during the fourth Test at Old Trafford, Manchester. He picked only two wickets in 33 overs, which was the most he has bowled in an innings, and for the first time in his Test career, his runs column had breached 100. Bumrah is currently the joint-second-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets in the series alongside Mohammed Siraj. After the fighting draw in Manchester, India's head coach Gautam Gambhir had said Bumrah was available for the final Test, but two days later, India decided to rest him. The report further mentioned that Akash Deep, who missed the fourth Test with a groin niggle is fit now and likely to replace Bumrah in the Indian playing XI in the fifth Test at the Oval, Akash Deep, who picked up an impressive ten-wicket match haul in the second Test at Edgbaston, bowled in full rhythm during India's optional training session on Tuesday. Gambhir Engages in Dispute with Surrey Groundsman

Cricket controversy News: India head coach Gautam Gambhir was reportedly involved in a 'flap' with Surrey groundsman incident Lee Fortis, ahead of the fifth and final Test between India and England at The Oval. Gambhir was seen pointing his finger and telling Fortis that he was 'just a groundsman' in a video that has since gone viral. Assistant coach Sitanshu Kotak appeared to brush off the remark, saying, 'we don't care about that'. Fortis had told Gambhir that he would be reporting him to the ICC match referee for 'swearing' at him. Team India salvaged a draw at Manchester and headed to London to continue the series, where they did an optional training on Tuesday. The support staff usually arrives on the ground well before the players, and Gambhir altercation and the other assistant coaches were with them on Tuesday. Fortis has reportedly been complaining that Indian team has been hogging most of the main square during their practice. The issue was allegedly raised with assistant coach Sitanshu Kotak by Gautam Gambhir. The conversation became a little heated and Fortis was heard Gambhir Surrey dispute to 'not use that type of word', before warning him that he would report him to the match referee if he continued with his 'antics'. Kotak and Fortis then walked and carried on with their conversation near the side net. 'I am a person who has played cricket. We understand what we need to do. We do not need any direction from anyone. You should also understand that we also have a system and people to follow. You are just a groundsman, nothing beyond. You are just a groundsman.' 'We were just checking the pitch, when one of the Surrey Cricket Club members asked us to be at least 2.5 metres apart,' Kotak said. 'We were a bit taken aback by it as it was just a day to go for the match and we were in joggers. It was a little embarrassing'.

India ‘see no point' in lodging official complaint against Oval pitch curator's arrogant behaviour for Gambhir, coaches

India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak confirmed that there would not be an escalation from them after the verbal spat between head coach Gautam Gambhir and Surrey chief curator Lee Fortis took social media by storm. Kotak said there was no point in registering an official complaint on the incident that took focus away from cricket, not for the first time in this series. India's captain Shubman Gill, left, and Head Coach Gautam Gambhir during a practice session(PTI) "No, I do not think there is any point in complaining," Kotak said in the press conference on Tuesday. Needless to say, the conference was dominated by questions on the Gambhir-Fortis fight. The incident, which unfolded during India's net session on Tuesday, saw Gambhir exchange sharp words with Fortis in full view of players and support staff. Caught on camera wagging his finger and raising his voice, the former India opener was heard telling Fortis, "You're just the groundsman, nothing beyond," and, "You can't tell us what to do." Fortis, who was reportedly attempting to protect the pitch area — with several domestic fixtures still to be played on it this season — appeared visibly agitated as he warned Gambhir that he may be forced to file a formal complaint. In response, Gambhir, unmoved, said, "You can go and report to whoever you want." Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak was seen trying to de-escalate the altercation, stepping in as a mediator between the two. Kotak defends Gambhir Kotak defended Gambhir and added that they were taken by surprise when the instruction to stay 2.5 metres away from the pitch was given. It didn't help that Fortis spoke rudely to one of India's support staff members for keeping an ice box near the main square. "When we went to see the wicket ... they sent someone to tell us to stay 2.5 metres away from the pitch, which was a little surprising," Kotak told a press conference. "It's a cricket wicket, there's a five-day test starting the day after, and we were wearing joggers. So it was a bit awkward. "We all know that curators are a little over-protective ... but at the end of the day it's a cricket pitch, not an antique that you can't touch." Fortis downplayed the incident when he spoke to a group of journalists. "There's nothing more to add ... we have nothing to hide here," he said. Surrey did not issue a statement but insiders are believed to have sided with the chief curator, who, they believe, was only doing his job of keeping the players and the support staff away from the main square. The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which has taken a spicy turn since the Lord's Test due to Shubman Gill's aggressive behaviour towards England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett for wasting time, will be decided in the final Test starting Thursday. England leads the series 2-1.
