Fahadh Faasil Reveals How Rajinikanth Made Him Fall In Love With Tamil Cinema

News183 days ago
Fahadh Faasil has been in awe since working with his childhood hero Rajinikanth in Vettaiyan in 2024.
Directed by Sudheesh Shankar, Fahadh Faasil is once again back on the big screens today with Maareesan with Vadivelu. This captivating road trip story follows an unlikely duo on a life-changing journey from Nagercoil to Coimbatore, with a stop in Tiruvannamalai. Fahadh plays a thief who sets his sights on Vadivelu's cash-filled bag, but their adventure takes an unexpected turn, transforming their lives forever.
With its gentle and emotional tone, Maareesan promises to be a cinematic experience like no other. However, the journey takes an unexpected turn when Fahadh Faasil is stuck travelling with Vadivelu, whose out-of-context remarks and memory lapses lead to a series of events that alter their lives.
Fahadh Faasil On His First Tamil Film Experience
In a candid conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Fahadh Faasil recalled his first Tamil film experience, which dates back to his college days. 'The first Tamil film I watched after bunking my college class was 'Baasha,' starring Rajini sir. Every scene in the film is beautifully crafted. I especially liked the scene where Thangachi gets college admission," recalled Fahadh Faasil, fondly sharing his admiration for Rajinikanth's iconic film.
'In that scene, when he says, 'I got admission,' and his sister asks, the way Rajini sir says, 'I told the truth,' in a close-up shot, really amazed me. I was surprised by how he acted as if he was talking to the audience," he added.
Fahadh Faasil also shared that he had learned Tamil through Tamil friends from Coimbatore and had enjoyed many Tamil films.
Furthermore, he also opened up about working with Rajinikanth in Vettaiyan, saying, 'TJ Gnanavel approached me about playing a different role in the film Vettaiyan at the very beginning. But I chose the role of Patrick because I clicked with it after hearing the story. Since this decision was a last-minute change for TJ Gnanavel, he had to make some changes. I didn't want the story to affect me, so I went with it as written," he said.
Fahadh Faasil also mentioned that in-person conversations help him decide which roles he'll take on.
On the work front, Fahadh Faasil recently had his latest release, Maareesan, with Vadivelu. He has several upcoming films, including Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, Don't Trouble The Trouble, Patriot and Karate Chandran.

Ahaan Panday's Private Instagram Account Revealed, Is Followed By Ananya Panday, Aneet Padda

Fans are convinced that the account belongs to Ahaan due to the star-studded follower list. Ahaan Panday has become quite the sensation since his Bollywood debut in Mohit Suri's Saiyaara. Amid the hype surrounding Ahaan Panday, fans have discovered his private Instagram account. The username of the alleged private account is @ and it has the image of a dog playing a guitar as its display picture. While Ahaan hasn't confirmed that the account belongs to him, fans are convinced that it is indeed the actor's private account, as it is followed by Ananya Panday, Aneet Padda, Khushi Kapoor, Tara Sutaria, Alaya F, Aisha Ahmed and Prit Kamani, to name a few. Have a look here: It is not uncommon for Bollywood celebrities to have private accounts. Previously, Khushi Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor have also admitted that they have a 'finsta' for their close friends and family. Several celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, have mentioned that even Ranbir Kapoor uses a private account to keep a tab on social media. As for Ahaan's alleged finsta, at the time of publishing, the account has 508 followers and 206 posts. The account follows 1603 other accounts. Meanwhile, Saiyaara is proving to be a box office beast, and it's doing what most romantic dramas rarely manage — pulling massive crowds and raking in serious money. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide in just nine days, making it one of the biggest box office stories of 2025. According to early estimates as quoted by trade tracker Sacnilk, Saiyaara earned around Rs 30 crore (India net) on its tenth day, that is Sunday. With strong word of mouth and no real competition at the moment, the film's theatrical run is expected to continue at full throttle into the coming week. At this pace, Saiyaara could soon surpass the lifetime collection of Kabir Singh (Rs 377 crore) — which would make it the highest-grossing Indian romantic film of all time (non-inflation-adjusted). All eyes are now on how it performs in its second full week. First Published: July 28, 2025, 11:07 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
