Three Geng Along Jep members charged over stolen vehicles
KLANG: Three members of the 'Geng Along Jep' believed to be involved in vehicle thefts around Selangor, were charged in the Magistrate's Court here today with possessing and concealing stolen property.
The charges were read separately before Magistrate's Court assistant registrar Wan Muhammad Kushairi Wan Roslei against Tomi Andhika Kosnanto, 25, Mohd Haffi Mohamad, 40, and Muhammad Razahin Zalan, 25.
Tomi Andhika and Mohd Haffi each faced two charges, while Muhammad Razahin was charged with one count.
Tomi Andhika pleaded not guilty to a charge of robbing a 54-year-old woman of her car in Teluk Gadong Besar near here on March 19. The charge, under Section 392 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum jail term of 14 years and is also liable to a fine or whipping, upon conviction.
He also claimed trial to a second charge of dishonestly concealing a stolen motorcycle in Taman Raja Uda on Dec 28, 2024. The offence, under Section 414 of the Penal Code, provides for a jail term of up to seven years and a fine.
Meanwhile, Mohd Haffi pleaded guilty to two charges - of concealing a stolen car at an apartment in Jalan Batu Nilam on April 11, and possessing a vehicle chassis on April 23.
He was charged under Section 414 of the Penal Code and Section 29(1) of the Minor Offences Act 1955, which carries a maximum jail term of seven years and a fine for the first offence, and a maximum fine of RM1,000 or imprisonment of up to two years, or both, for the second.
Muhammad Razahin also pleaded guilty to a charge of concealing a stolen car in Rantau Panjang, Klang on April 19. He was charged under Section 414 of the Penal Code.
Deputy public prosecutors Sulfie Abu Hassan and Nur Nadia Syuhada Rosli appeared for the prosecution, while all three accused were represented by National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) lawyer James Chan.
The prosecution offered bail amounts ranging from RM1,000 to RM7,000, but the defence appealed for lower bail, citing the accuseds' lack of stable income, dependency on their families and the need to care for elderly parents.
The court later allowed bail between RM2,500 and RM6,000 for each accused and set case mention dates for June 11, 23 and 30.

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here has dismissed the leave application by the former operator of Kuala Lumpur Tower to commence committal proceedings against seven individuals and the government. The former operator, Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd, and its parent, Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd, are seeking contempt of court action against the eight for allegedly disrupting the administration of justice amid ongoing legal proceedings. She further held that the court was not persuaded by Hydroshoppe's assertion of encroachment on its properties, regardless of the manner, given that its contract with the government had lapsed on March 31. The court also dismissed the inter partes injunction application by Hydroshoppe and Menara KL, ordering both companies to pay RM20,000 each in costs to the government, as well as to LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd, LSH Best Builders Sdn Bhd and Service Master (M) Sdn Bhd. The court then fixed July 14 to hear the striking-out applications filed by Fahmi and the three companies. Hydroshoppe and Menara KL filed a breach of contract suit against the respondents, alleging that LSH Capital and its subsidiaries induced a breach of an agreement purportedly reached with the government during a meeting in August 2022. The plaintiffs further claimed that the respondents engaged in dishonest assistance and are seeking a declaration that the award of the KL Tower concession to LSH Service Master is void and unlawful. In addition, they are claiming an estimated RM1 billion in damages and are seeking the concession of the iconic Kuala Lumpur landmark to be transferred back to them. - Bernama

The boy was accused of raping his 15-year-old acquaintance at a house in Batu Pahat between 4pm and 5.30pm on June 2. According to the police report lodged by the boy's father, the boy committed the offence while his mother was at work. She knocked on his door several times before it was opened, and found the girl in his bedroom. A police investigation found both the accused and the victim admitting to having had sex 16 to 18 times. Tough love: Father refuses to bail out son after rape confession
BATU PAHAT: A father refused to pay the RM1,500 bail set by the Magistrate's Court here today for his teenage son, who pleaded guilty to multiple counts of raping a 15-year-old girl. The man, in his 40s, wanted to teach his 16-year-old son a lesson following the teen's confession in court before magistrate Arun Noval Dass. The father, who accompanied his son to court, was seen leaving without posting the bail bond after the guilty plea. According to the charges, the teenager is accused of raping the girl at a residence within the district between 4pm and 5.30pm on June 2. The charge was framed under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code for rape, which provides for a maximum sentence of 20 years' imprisonment and caning upon conviction. The teenager reportedly committed the offence at his home while his mother was out at work. His mother returned home earlier than usual and found her son and the girl inside his bedroom. The two teenagers admitted to engaging in sexual activities multiple times. The case was set for re-mention on July 16 for case management. Deputy public prosecutor Firdaus Ruslan handled the prosecution, with the accused represented by lawyer Tan Song Yang from the National Legal Aid Foundation.
