Dream job for beer lovers as popular Scottish brewery looks to recruit 5 tasters
No CV is required for this role, which is set to kick off in the summer.
A dream job for beer lovers is up for grabs, as one of Scotland's top breweries has launched a nationwide search for a new beer taster - a role that requires little more than a passion for lager and promises unique VIP experiences.
Innis & Gunn is seeking to fill five coveted beer taster positions for a full year, with the work set to start on July 1, 2025. Far from needing a traditional CV, the main requirement is a genuine love for their lager, which will of course, be provided free of charge.
The rewards for these lucky individuals go beyond sampling new brews. The chosen tasters will gain VIP access to some of Scotland's most prestigious cultural events, Scottish Daily Express reported.
Those who get the job will have the opportunity to enjoy Belladrum, the Edinburgh Christmas Market, Celtic Connections, and even The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Innis & Gunn believes this "could genuinely be the best gig in the country."
The search for these 'pint professionals' kicked off in a unique way in Glasgow. The brewery partnered with video interview platform Willo to create a live, interactive application experience.
A special pop up booth was set up at The Social Hub in Glasgow, inviting passersby to step inside and participate.
The booth captured the attention of busy Glaswegians, prompting them to answer a series of cleverly designed questions.
These ranged from the technical, such as describing the flavour of a pint in just five words, to the more playful, asking applicants to demonstrate pulling an imaginary pint.
The result was a "hilarious reel of passionate pitches" from enthusiastic potential candidates.
While the Glasgow launch offered a fun twist on the interview process, the opportunity itself is a serious one with fantastic perks.
The selected tasters will receive training in addition to gaining exclusive access to new beers at the Innis & Gunn Taproom.

Dougal Sharp, founder and master brewer at Innis & Gunn, explained the choice of launch location: "Glasgow's got personality by the pint, so it made perfect sense to kick off our search for Scotland's top beer taster right here.
"We wanted to do something that felt less like a job interview and more like a laugh down the pub, and that's exactly what happened at The Social Hub."
He added: "With help from our friends at Willo, we've captured some brilliant characters who know their way around a beer, and we can't wait to see who else throws their hat in the ring. This could genuinely be the best gig in the country so get your applications in as soon as you can."
For those hoping to land one of these dream roles but who missed the Glasgow event, applications can be made online. Simply pick up a promotional pack of Innis & Gunn lager in store and follow the instructions provided to throw your hat in the ring.

150 year old chip shop in Scottish city praised as cosy and authentic with celebrity visitors
A Glasgow chip shop opened in 1875 and taken over by the Corvi family in 1938 became famous under Luigi Corvi Friday, June 6 marks National Fish and Chip Day, a perfect occasion for Brits to savour one of the nation's most beloved dishes. With thousands of chippies across the country, a fish supper remains a Friday night treat for many. Fish and chips first emerged as a popular meal in 19th century northern England before spreading nationwide. By the 1870s, it had reached Scotland, where one historic fish and chip shop continues to delight customers after nearly 150 years. Val d'Oro, a Glasgow institution, celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2025. Originally opened in 1875 on London Road at Glasgow Cross by the Beltrami family from Italy, the shop was taken over by the Corvi family in 1938. They renamed it from The Swiss Restaurant to Val d'Oro, a name it has proudly kept ever since. Under Luigi Corvi's stewardship, Val d'Oro earned fame not only for its food but for its unique charm. Known as the Singing Chip Shop Owner, Luigi entertained Celtic fans with opera songs on their way to Parkhead. His talent even led to a special invitation to sing for Queen Elizabeth during the opening of the Scottish Parliament in 2011. The shop has attracted a host of famous faces over the decades. Sir Paul McCartney stopped by in 1973 with his wife Linda, purchasing two fish suppers before his vegetarian days. Other notable visitors include Jack Mulroy, Larry Marshall, Jimmy Logan, Marti Pellow and Frankie Boyle. Earlier this year, Reform deputy chairman Richard Tice visited for a press event. Despite its age, Val d'Oro remains a firm favourite with customers, boasting a 4.4 rating on TripAdvisor and nearly 80 per cent of reviews awarding it a perfect score. Visitors have praised it as "perfecto," "cozy," "authentic," and "special." One enthusiastic reviewer said: 'This old style chippy is a Glasgow gem and if you're in the area I would highly recommend you pop in and experience the great food and immerse yourself in the local culture. "May this famous Glasgow institution continue serving the city for many years to come.' Another wrote: 'A real breath of fresh air in a world where everything is becoming so sterile. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was friendly and welcoming. Please never change!' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Enrico Corvi, current manager and a Val d'Oro veteran of nearly 60 years, describes the shop as a "way of life." Speaking to the BBC last year, he said: 'We've had illustrious customers, but the main one is the great Glasgow public. "We still get people coming in that were coming in 60 years ago. Some of them had their first date in the Val d'Oro and a lot of our customers were brought up with us. We knew all the families. 'But it's a world away from what it was as a living, breathing part of the community. A lot of these bonafide Glasgow customers aren't around here anymore.'

James Argent's ex breaks silence as she claims she was 'brutally evicted'
James Argent's ex-girlfriend Nicoline Artursson has broken her silence after the former TOWIE star was convicted of domestic violence earlier this month James Argent's former girlfriend, Nicoline Artursson, has finally spoken out after the ex-TOWIE star admitted to domestic violence. Earlier this month, Argent admitted his guilt in a Spanish court, receiving a six-month suspended prison sentence and a two-year restraining order. Argent had pushed his then-girlfriend down a flight of stairs, causing injuries, according to earlier reports. Despite the shocking incident, Argent was back on stage by the end of the week, earning his living through singing. Nicoline, a model and former Miss Sweden, met Arg outside a supermarket in Marbella and they quickly fell head over heels for each other. In an interview with OK! magazine, James reminisced about the moment he first saw Nicoline, describing her as beautiful even in her gym clothes and without makeup. "She'd just fed a stray cat. We both smiled and kind of giggled at each other. And Nicoline carried on walking. Then I thought, 'What have I got to lose?' So I turned around and said, 'Hey.'" The couple went on to date and had discussed starting a family together one day, with Nicoline praising Arg's family-oriented nature, reports the Mirror. Until now, Nicoline had remained silent about the incident. She recently took to social media to share her thoughts on what had transpired in a lengthy and emotional post titled 'All that glitters, where is the gold?'. In a heartfelt social media post, Nicoline detailed her emotional and physical turmoil following the end of her relationship. She wrote: "It's now been a month. I still can't believe it. My fractures on my body have finally healed but I'm wounded inside. I've been quiet long enough. Silence protects no one - and it almost destroyed started as a love story sadly turned into something else. Behind the pictures, promises and the plans for a life together - the beautiful days - changed into something into sadness with emotional manipulation and eventually physical harm." While she didn't name anyone specifically, Nicoline hinted at issues with Arg's past, saying he had "unresolved ties to his past". She expressed her frustration about feeling like a third wheel in her own relationship, stating: "There were 'too many people in our relationship' - her, Arg and his ex - and accused the unnamed ex and her family of 'targeted emotional distress'." She continued: "I loved deeply, believed in our future and stood by someone I thought would protect me and instead I was left alone and harmed in ways I never imagined. I was not only failed by him but deeply affected by the presence of unresolved ties to his past." Nicoline also referenced a social media poll she conducted, sharing: "Yes I posted an Instagram story with a simple yes or no question about if your ex should be a part of your present relationship. I felt there were too many people in our relationship: me, my boyfriend and his ex. 'Three's a crowd', they say. I asked so many times if we could be just the two of us, but the answer was a strong NO. "I experienced what I can only describe as targeted emotional distress which he allowed to continue. The ex and her family put us through so much misery and false accusations, I won't go into details. "They had no reason whatsoever to do what they did to us, but for some reason they wouldn't let go and let us enjoy our love. Everybody knows that real friends support you and want to see you happy. So I posted a story on Instagram." She further stated Arg had promised to "put a stop" to the ongoing issues: "After being together for one year my boyfriend finally promised me that he would have boundaries. He would put a stop to all that had been going on for months. But he didn't. "Instead he broke the promise and her controlling behaviour continued. The rest is history. I was brutally thrown out of our new home in the middle of the night wearing only my pyjamas. I opened the door to let him in and only minutes after I found myself laying down on the stairs outside our house. My clothes and belongings were being thrown out from the balcony down on me. I was injured." Later, Nicoline expressed gratitude to her neighbours: "Thanks to incredible neighbours who heard and saw what happened and acted, I got help. They called police, brought me to safety and ensured the incident was taken seriously." She powerfully ended her message with: "A gentleman does not abuse you and end up in jail and call you the love of his life. A gentleman does not blame you for his actions. A gentleman will confide in his partner, family and close circle of friends, keeping them close and safe. A gentleman chooses you always and leaves the past in the past - including exes. "Life is to be lived together and not to please people who want to take advantage of you. At the end of the day, fame can only do so much - it's all about being strong and growing together. Life is simply not a reality TV show, life is real. I have tried to understand why. I have cried so many tears thinking about the way he chose to hurt me. He said he loved me and I believed him and here we are." Furthering her reflection, she continued: "There is now a legal record of what happened. Violence has no excuse - no matter how much love preceded it. To those who questioned me for staying as long as I did: I stayed because I believed in love. I believed he and we could grow, could heal, could choose peace. But love doesn't survive in chaos. And it cannot survive where violence lives." She then addressed her readers directly: "To every woman reading this: if you've ever questioned your worth, your safety or your sanity in a relationship - this is your sign. You deserved to be loved with care and integrity. And you are not alone. To the men: real strength is protection. Real love is safe. Be the kind of man who lifts women up - not one who breaks them down, neither by violence or silence. "To the future: never say never. I will get the little family I've always dreamed of and have my dream wedding to symbolise and celebrate true love in front of my dear family and friends." She penned: "I'm healing now. Slowly, bravely and unapologetically. I will rise and I will use my voice - not for vengeance but for truth. For every woman who's been silenced by someone who said 'I love you' and then proved otherwise. This is not just my story. It's a reminder: abuse - whether emotional, psychological or physical - has no place in love."

Derby and Epsom tips and best bets as Ballydoyle ace fancied for Classic triumph
Daily Record tipster Garry Owen has you covered for Derby day at Epsom Bermuda Longtail (1:00) can soar for Andrew Balding in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes. The filly opened her account with an impressive defeat of Dash Of Azure at Kempton. She stayed a mile well when second to Glittering Surf up in class on her return there. The bay raised her game again when edged out by Kon Tiki in Listed Company at York. The three-year-old was slightly unlucky so she can gain compensation slightly up in trip. Balding can also claim the Northern Dancer Handicap with Candyman Stan (4:15). The four-year-old developed into a reasonable performer over middle distances last year. The gelding showed a liking for undulating tracks when slamming Annexation at Brighton. He handled the similar terrain at Lingfield just as well when cosily denying Charlie's Choice. He is tailor-made for the demands of Epsom so he can make light of a reasonable 5lb hike. Docklands (1:35) can land the odds for Harry Eustace in the Betfred Diomed Stakes. The gelding hit new heights when pipping New Endeavour in the 2023 Britannia at Ascot. He put in his best shift since when second to Charyn in the following season's QEII there. Not as good after, bay began this term with a near-miss to Sardinian Warrior at that track. That is terrific form so the five-year-old can put that run to good use in another hot event. Mademoiselle (2:10) can turn on the style for George Scott in the Three-Year-Old Dash. The sprinter built on some solid efforts when brushing aside Bella Love in a Thirsk maiden. She kept up the good work with a game defeat of Nightbird in a trappy novice at Southwell. The filly was even better when narrowly denied by Ruby's Profit on her return at Goodwood. The Team Amo raider should be primed so she can turn the tables on her foe at these weights. Clarendon House (2:45) can make his class tell for Robert Cowell in the Epsom Dash. The gelding recorded another personal best when routing Erosandpsyche in a Cork Listed event. The seven-year-old then struggled to match that performance with some lesser form up in class. However, he hit back when comfortably denying Marshman back in a Listed event at Southwell. The bay was as good as ever when third to Rumstar in the Group 3 Palace House at Newmarket. The speedster remains on song so he can shrug-off a welter-burden back in handicap company. War Hawk (5:00) can swoop for Team Crisford in the competitive Lester Piggott Handicap. The gelding benefited from stepping up to 1m 2f when hosing up from Bownder at Lingfield. Lacklustre at Nottingham, he returned to form with a superb second to Gunship at Newcastle. The bay didn't mind switching back to turn when hacking up from Magellan Cloud at Chester. The three-year-old scored with plenty in hand so he can land a better event for his in-form yard. Circe (5:40) looks absolutely spell-binding for Richard Hannon in the closing Tokyo Trophy. The filly go her act together when second to Cruyff Turn over seven furlongs at Doncaster. She continued her revival when just denying Santa Savana dropped in trip at Newmarket. The four-year-old raised her game again with a game defeat of Change Sings at Windsor. Circe remains in peak form so she can defy a fair 4lb rise for her thriving connections. 1:00 BERMUDA LONGTAIL 1:35 DOCKLANDS 2:10 MADEMOISELLE 2:45 CLARENDON HOUSE 3:30 DELACROIX (NAP) 4:15 CANDYMAN STAN 5:00 WAR HAWK 5:40 CIRCE
