Lavish Empire shooting for back-to-back 1500m wins with his new-found stamina reserves when he heads to Randwick
Snowden said Lavish Empire surprised him with his new-found stamina reserves when he defeated Grebeni in the Muswellbrook Cup last start.
'We had never tried Lavish Empire at 1500m before but he hit the line really well to win at Muswellbrook,' Snowden said.

'I thought he should have another crack at the trip and if he runs well again then I'm thinking about setting him for the Scone Cup next month.
'If he can run a mile (1600m) then it opens up a lot more opportunities.'
Lavish Empire is second emergency but is over the odds at $21 with TAB Fixed Odds for the Randwick race where Ducasse is the $4.20 favourite.
But Snowden's promising sprinter Zealously dominates at the betting at $1.80 for the Jeff Pendlebury Handicap (1000m).
Zealously resumed with a close second to Wondereach at Warwick Farm and Snowden said three-year-old has been improved by the run.
'He ran super first-up and was only caught right on the line,' Snowden said. 'He has come on well from that and this looks a nice race for him on paper.
'When he was last in work he only had four runs for three wins then he ran fourth to Private Harry in The Sunlight on the Sunshine Coast so his form is very good.'
A busy finish in the Muswellbrook Gold Cup at @thebrookracing and it's Lavish Empire who books his Big Dance chance!ðŸ'ƒ

Snowden also saddles up will King Of Roseau ($7) in the Terry Maskell Handicap (1200m) and unbeaten filly Akaysha ($8) in the ATC Bookmakers Recognition Day Handicap (1100m).
King Of Roseau, who was stakes-placed twice last spring, resumed with a close fourth against older horses at Warwick Farm earlier this month.
'He ran well first-up and he will like the 'cut' in the track on Saturday,' Snowden said. 'I'm looking to take him to the Gold Coast on May 10 (Gold Coast Guineas) if he runs well at Randwick.'
Akaysha won impressively on debut at Kembla Grange earlier this month, recording a very fast 55.86s for the 1000m. She is at $8 in early betting behind favourite Beskar at $2.50.
At the Kensington Anzac Day meeting on Friday, Snowden has Queen Of Dragons resuming in the Gallipoli Handicap (1400m).
Although Queen Of Dragons is rated at $17 for her return to racing, Snowden believes the mare is an each-way chance.
'Queen Of Dragons doesn't mind the sting out of the ground,' Snowden said.
'She trialled super the other day in a good heat and she can run well fresh.'

Clayton Douglas-trained Blue Hotel faces first Melbourne test in Quezette Stakes at Caulfield
Clayton Douglas is attacking Saturday's Quezette Stakes from a different angle to his fellow trainers. Douglas will test I Am Invincible filly Blue Hotel against more experienced opposition in the Caulfield Group 3 feature. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Blue Hotel won the Listed Dequettville Stakes in Adelaide on debut at her only two-year-old appearance in April but the Adelaide two-year-old form will be on trial in the $200,000 Quezette Stakes. Adelaide form stood up when Esha improved off a Murray Bridge maiden win to dominate her rivals at The Valley last Saturday. Douglas said the Quezette Stakes would provide a few answers to Blue Hotel's progress since emulating her dam Volcada by winning the Dequettville Stakes. • 'It will be interesting to see how my filly goes in Melbourne grade,' Douglas said. 'Saturday is going to determine how she's going and where she sits in the pecking order. 'But she seems to have really come on since her win. 'She's a good filly and I think she'll be hard to beat on what I've seen of her so far.' Winning or performing strongly against the likes of the unbeaten Scenic Point and Signature Scent would provide Douglas with the information he needed to determine the next couple of runs of Blue Hotel's preparation. Melbourne's spring program for three-year-old fillies' provided a plethora of opportunities, which could lead to the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes down the Flemington straight in November. 'It's really hard to say where she will end up,' Douglas said. 'I think she's going to be a sprinting filly but after Saturday, there's races like the Cap D'Antibes down the straight. 'There's also a race like the Coolmore or even the Poseidon or Danehill Stakes. 'A race like the Atlantic Jewel (Stakes) is an option as well.' Blue Hotel has drawn barrier eight in the Quezette Stakes, which is unlikely to hinder the filly's tactics of racing off the pace under jockey Mark Zahra. 'There will be good speed on and she can get off the speed and be hitting the line hard first-up and that will give us an idea of where to go after that,' Douglas said.

Racewatch: Shayne O'Cass's race-by-race tips and analysis for Rosehill Gardens on Saturday
Form analyst Shayne O'Cass runs his expert eye over the 10-race card at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, presenting his race-by-race tips and analysis. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! â– â– â– â– â– CONVERGENT (8) was a strange run here two weeks ago insofar as he didn't look at all comfortable on the Heavy 10 but he picked up late and got going again when it was all over. It will be nowhere near as bad this time. Keep the faith. John Sargent knows how to win a Midway and VETWELVE (7) is having a second crack at one after a really easy win beating a subsequent easy winner at Kembla. PRETTY TAVI (12) is pretty reliable. MONKHANA (10) has come back well; 1 500m at home, second-up, ticks boxes. BET: CONVERGENT (8) each-way. SHIPSHAPE (9), a grandson of 5-times Group 1 winner Divine Madonna, has raced in five Highways all up, the last two were both 'closing' fifths here at Rosehill Ran OK at Forbes in a Benchmark 82 on Cup day. Has some each-way appeal at the odds. POWDER MAN (4) has been unlucky in his two winter Highways. Tommy Berry sticking from that last (enormous) one here on July 5. LIGHT INFANTRY (7) ran against a Koscisuskzo horse in his August 2 Highway! BET: SHIPSHAPE (9) each-way, box quinella 4,7,9,17. For what it is worth, I have REFLECT (10) pegged as a future Guineas, even Oaks filly. She is by So You Think out of a granddaughter of NZ 2000 Guineas winner Foxwood. Fourth dam is the mother of Gurner's Lane and Sovereign Red. By the way, that fourth dam is Taiona and she is also the fourth dam of Mr Brightside and Ka Ying Rising! Wow. NINJA (4) was an 11-lengths winner in a 4-horse Maiden at Kembla. Got that little touch of class about him this one. KARINSKA (3) and WITHOUT PEER (2) will have admirers for good reason. BET: REFLECT (10) to win (best bet). This is the clash of the Peter Snowden stablemates that didn't happen the first time; I speak of course of TUILERIES (8) versus AMREEKIYAH (9). You could make the case for either one. I could be horribly wrong in my assessment but I have Tuileries ahead of Amreekiyah only because I have suspicion Tuileries is the safer option at 1400m. It's not a two-horse race by any means. I kept coming back to SUNSHINE LAW (7) and asking, why can't she do it again? The answer, yes she can. BET: TUILERIES (8) to win. SKYHOOK (1) was right up there with the very top 2YO colts last year, not just colts either, given he started $7.50 in the Golden Slipper. It is true sometimes good 2YOs don't make good 3YOs but I can't see how a Written Tycoon (replica) out of such a great family as his, won't train on. He trialled like he's ready and able to take up from where he left off. Speaking of trials; if you bet only on what we saw at the trials, PALLATON (5) would be a $1.50 shot! He will have fans but it will be interesting to see how many have been burnt before line-up again. Big respect for BLITZBURG (2). BET: SKYHOOK (1) to win, exacta 1 to beat 5. KAPAKIRI (17), the son of Gosford Gold Cup winner Oriental Lady, was $17 to $21 first-up in a 1400m race on the Kensington track on July 16 but ran more like a big firmer than a bit drifter. Keep in mind that his wins are from 1800m up to 2400m so he is within his strike-distance. His new (Godolphin) stablemate AMUSING (14) is on a hat-trick. She is 2 from 3 at Rosehill and is bred for 2000m and more. HASTY HONEY (4) is '112' which is the good news; the bad news is the draw (potentially). BET: KAPAKIRI (17) each-way. Been a big fan and admirer of OUR GOLD HOPE (6) since her awesome debut win at Kembla. By the end of the 2023/24 season, she was a Group 1 runner-up in the Queensland Oaks. Her 4YO season was full of highlights – and some bad luck too. Trials are good. A good judge once decreed that backing horses first-up over 1400m off a 3200m Cup run was a good system (and it is). Say hello to BIRDMAN (4) here who has plenty of residual fitness from his Manion, Chairman's and Sydney Cup autumn finale. PALMETTO (3) has been trialling the house down. BET: OUR GOLD HOPE (6) each-way. BATTLETON (3) is way, way too good a horse to be 50/1, let alone $12 the place. Granted he is '0085' this preparation but he has been coming through some really strong races and as often the case, his pattern (and sometimes bad luck) has conspired against him. One proviso; Soft and not Heavy on Saturday. DENMAN STAR (12) probably couldn't have won without a good draw and a pull in the weights; well, he gets both on the weekend with box four and 55.5kg. CAPTAIN FURAI (10) has the right numbers. BROSNAN (7) is no good first-up but is good – period. BET: BATTLETON (3) each-way, (the Bjorn) Daily Double 1st Leg 3, 2nd Leg 3. When Sheikh Mohammed was divvying out the string, I bet a lot of trainers were hoping they would pick up POLYGLOT (7). Michael Freedman was the 'winner', this will be the grandson of Forensics' first run under new management but the same jockey, more or less – James McDonald is 2 rides, one win, one second plus a stunning trial win here on July 29. Nepotism's half brother and Black Caviar's nephew THEBLADE (14) is a gifted horse. He's drawn better than Polyglot and he's got less weight too. BET: POLYGLOT (7) to win, quinella 7,14, box trifecta 1,4,7,14. This an old fashioned Get Out Stakes and good on the TAB for the spread of prices but I was shocked to see DISNECK (3) at $18 on Wednesday and that is even before we know what he will SP. Put on a good speed and given this horse a clear and unimpeded run at them on a fair track and he can tip them all out. Ditto a lot for BAUHINIA (17) who will be a lot higher rated mare than a 78 by the end of the spring. GERIATRIX (7) was underwhelming in his two summer runs for Chris Waller but expect a lot better from him, starting here and now.

Mitch Cohen's race-by-race tips and inside mail for Newcastle on Thursday
Form expert Mitch Cohen analyses the eight-race card at Newcastle on Thursday, presenting his best bets, quaddie picks and inside mail. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! â– â– â– â– â– NEWCASTLE TIPS BEST BET Race 7 No.2 INNCOURT: Promising Irish import back from a short freshen-up. He can back-up his strong Wyong win during the winter. NEXT BEST Race 4 No.4 ZOUNAKA: Consistent mare that wasn't far away in stakes grade in her last start back in March. She has trialled up well and can run well fresh. VALUE BEST Race 6 No.2 THUNDERING SOUL: Did more than enough first-up when working home nicely from the back at Gosford. He will be hitting the line strongly again stepping up in trip. QUADDIE Race 5: 3, 5, 8 Race 6: 2, 3, 4, 5 Race 7: 2, 3, 4 Race 8: 4, 5, 7, 8 TRAINER TO FOLLOW Leading trainer Kris Lees has had 427 winners on his home course and has five chances to add to that tally despite promising filly Cantiamo lining up 24 hours earlier in Sydney. JOCKEY TO FOLLOW Apprentice Braith Nock rode more NSW winners than any other rider not named Aaron Bullock last season and looks set for big day with several hopes, including Faye Runaway and Quein Step. â– â– â– â– â– NEWCASTLE INSIDE MAIL RACE 1: Class 1 Plate (1880m) FAYE RUNAWAY (7) was scratched from the second event to step out over more ground over 1880m in the opener. Her record of two placings from 11 starts doesn't read like much but she is coming off a career best performance after flashing home for second over the Kembla Grange mile last time. She finds a winnable race here. STORM PARK (2) is building to a peak performance after laying the groundwork over shorter trips this prep. Third-up now is a winnable race, he gets is chance. HIPPY DREAMS (3) should be another significant improver up in ground. VERDICT: FAYE RUNAWAY (7) to win. BRUT NATURE (2) is an interesting debutant having his first start as a four-year-old. The son of Brutal has only been seen at the trials twice and looked the part in both, handling wet conditions too. Some early market support suggest he could be ready to make an eye-catching debut. DOLLARS (3) has had chances with placings in four of his eight starts. A narrow defeat over a mile at Warwick Farm last time reads well for this. Up to a mile second-up should boost RIDGEBACK (1) 's claims. VERDICT: BRUT NATURE (2) to win. Trainer Brad Widdup has kept his options open for SAVVY HALLIE (10) 's return but if she lines up here, she likely wins. The daughter of Hellbent boasts some serious form during her juvenile season with runner-up finishes in both the Group 3 Bailleau and Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes. She can knock off her maiden pretty fast, albeit at rock bottom odds. RUINATION (4) is a blueblood son of Wootton Bassett out of Group 1 winner Daysee Doom that has trialled up well ahead of his debut. DIETRICH (7) only tired late on debut so should strip fitter second-up. VERDICT: SAVVY HALLIE (10) to win, trifecta 10 (standout) from 2, 4,7. ZOUNAKA (4) makes her return from a 22-week spell after showing some promise last preparation. She was a winner first-up last time before her consistency was rewarded later in the prep with a crack at the Listed Canberra Guineas where she wasn't disgraced. The heavy track is the question mark but she's worth the risk. WAL'S ME MATE (2) got a nice confidence boosting victory last time at Wyong. He'll take plenty of benefit from that and handles the ground. BEAU BANDIT (5), a winner this track and trip in April, is a knockout hope. VERDICT: ZOUNAKA (4) to win, BEAU BANDIT (5) to place. IN AND OUT (3) races in the same green, pink and black colours of his talented stablemate Democracy Manifest. Trainer Chris Waller has taken his time with him but he showed a glimpse of his ability when second at this track on debut in January. He's had a couple of quiet trials and could surprise in an even race. FLORAL LEGEND (5) has trialled up nicely for new trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman. Expect him to be poised to pounce from the good draw. THE STARS (8) will appreciate the drop back to the provincials after being caught wide last start. VERDICT: IN AND OUT (3) each way. THUNDERING SOUL (2) finds himself in one of the most competitive races on the card but looks ready to run a bold race second-up. The home tracker got a mile back over 1100m at Gosford in his return and while he likely gets back here again, he should appreciate the step up to 1250m. Will Stanley's 2kg claim helps his cause. FRONTEX (4) has untapped potential and must be included in all multiples. He was far off the unbeaten Amreekiyah last prep – that's top form for this. BURJ (5) deserves respect with a consistent career to date of two wins, two seconds from six starts. VERDICT: THUNDERING SOUL (2) each-way, saver FRONTEX (4). INNCOURT (2) is a promising Irish-bred import that has so far only been restricted to one Australian start. That came in June at Wyong and the Matt Smith-trained galloper was very impressive, surging home to win over 1200m. He's had a freshen up and tick over trial since. Tipping he will get through his grades quickly. CINSAULT (3) took nine starts to break her maiden but did so stylishly with a 3-1/2 length success over 1300m at Kembla last time. She's in contention again. HOMERIC (4) will likely get back from the draw and be one of the strongest late. SPANDEX (8) is a home tracker chasing a winning hat-trick. The Scott Aspery-trained gelding has won his past two in the bush, including a tough all the way victory over a mile at Scone last time. Rock hard fit from a good draw, he can run well again. MIZELLA (4) has done some of her best racing at Newcastle with two of her three wins coming at the track. She will find this easier than recent Midway assignments. has been doing a terrific job during his debut preparation with wins at Bathurst and Forbes at his past two.
