Eastbound I-70 closed between Colorado towns of Frisco and Silverthorne due to wildfire
A wildfire burning between Frisco and Silverthorne prompted the Colorado Department of Transportation to close eastbound I-70 Saturday evening.
Authorities said the road is closed between Exit 201 and Exit 205 from Mile Point 201 to Mile Point 203.
In a Facebook post, Summit Fire and EMS said they're aware of the situation. "Yes, that's a wildfire in the willows next to Whole Foods. Firefighters are on scene, with more en route. Please do not call 9-1-1 for this. Details to come."
No evacuations have been ordered as of 6:35 p.m.
CDOT warned travelers to expect delays in the area while crews work to bring the fire under control.

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Isolated showers and storms remain possible Sunday evening, although the majority of the Piedmont Triad will remain dry. A level 1 and 2 threat for severe weather remains in place with the eastern half of the Piedmont Triad in the level 2 risk. While the general threat of severe weather is there, most of us will see non-severe storms this evening. Any stronger storms that are able to form would be capable of producing damaging winds and some hail. Temperatures will fall into the 70s later this evening. Overnight skies will remain mostly clear to partly cloudy. Temperatures will fall into the mid-60s into early Monday morning. Afternoon highs on Monday reach the mid-80s. A level 1 threat for severe weather is in place for any stronger storms that are able to form. The coverage for storms on Monday will be low, which means most of us will likely remain dry. A level 1 threat for severe weather remains in place as our summertime pattern persists. Any stronger storms that are able to form on Tuesday will be capable of producing damaging winds. A mix of sun and clouds on Wednesday with morning lows in the mid-60s and afternoon highs reaching the mid-80s. Wednesday looks like our one day this week where we'll be on the drier and quieter side of things. Partly cloudy skies on Thursday with morning lows in the mid-60s and highs nearing the low 90s. A stray shower or storms can't be ruled out Thursday afternoon, but most will remain dry with the chance for rain less than 20%. We're back in a summerlike pattern again by the end of the week with isolated storms possible Friday through Sunday. Both Friday and Saturday will start in the upper 60s and afternoon highs will near the low 90s. By Sunday, morning lows will remain in the upper 60s but afternoon highs will top out in the mid-80s. Tracking a dry and seasonable start to the week
A cold front moved through the area earlier this afternoon, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures. As of 3:30 p.m., temperatures were in the mid 60s and are expected to continue falling throughout the evening. Along with the cooling trend, scattered rain showers are also moving through the region. While most of the precipitation is expected to remain light, localized pockets of heavier rain are possible. Some of the storms in northeastern Kansas have produced lightning, which could impact outdoor events as the system approaches the St. Joseph area. Temperatures will continue to fall into the mid 50s by late evening. Rain is expected to taper off by that time, and skies will begin to clear overnight, setting up for a seasonable and dry start to the work week. Looking ahead, Monday through Wednesday is forecast to remain dry, with temperatures steadily climbing. Highs are expected to reach near 90 degrees by Wednesday. By Thursday, another low-pressure system will bring increased moisture and renewed rain chances. Showers are expected to develop Thursday and persist into the weekend. However, these showers appear to be widely scattered and are not expected to result in a complete washout.
