Shannon Noll shows off jaw-dropping biceps in ripped selfie after Australian Idol 2003 runner-up's remarkable body transformation

Sky News AU03-05-2025

Shannon Noll has shown off his jaw-dropping biceps and muscular frame after the 49-year-old underwent a dramatic body transformation.
Noll famously finished runner-up during the 2003 Australian Idol grand final, while Guy Sebastian won the first season of the singing competition.
The lanky What About Me? hitmaker, then aged 27, quickly gained notoriety as "Australia's favourite runner-up".
His fans widely perceived Noll as having been "robbed" of the win as they believed his vocals and performances were more powerful and emotional.
More than twenty years later, the Australian singer looks markedly different from the aspiring young hopeful who first took to the Australian Idol stage.
Recent Instagram photos of Noll show he has ditched his trademark soul patch and gained considerable muscle.
The 49-year-old's golden tan and bulging biceps could be seen in a video where he promoted his run of shows at the Murray River Music & Gold Festival in the New South Wales town of Barooga last month.
Noll sported a black singlet that emphasised his chest muscles and a black cap, and his ripped physique caught the attention of fans.
"Looking good, my friend. Cheers," said one person, while another praised his muscles with the comment: "Shoulders!!"
An earlier selfie of the five-time ARIA award winner showed his tattooed arms in all their glory.
Noll rolled up the top of his singlet to reveal his golden and tatted biceps, which he proudly flexed with a triumphant expression.
"Getting a bit back after an awesome festive season! #trainhardlivehard," he wrote in the caption of the shot taken during a workout.
His 80,000 Instagram followers commended the early 2000s star for his hard work.
"You looking amazing Shannon great work," one person said.
"Jacked. I love it, mate. Arm Wrestle?" another quipped.
More star-struck fans affectionally called Noll "Swolesy" and "Shannon Swole" in a nod to his muscular frame.
The Lift singer recently revealed he decided to embark on a physical transformation at the gym as he admitted he was "getting fat-skinny".
"I've been back in the gym for a good eighteen months now," Noll told Nova 96.9's Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie in April 2024.
"I started getting fat-skinny...because I'm naturally skinny anyway. I've got skinny legs. If I don't train and drink then you end up looking like E.T.
"So I thought I have to get back in the gym again. I train really hard and try to watch what I eat when I'm training."
Noll boosted his early Australian Idol fame into a successful recording and touring career that has produced six studio albums.
He is the only Australian male artist with ten consecutive top-ten singles in Australian chart history, including chart-toppers What About Me, Learn To Fly, and Shine.

Memory loss and hair falling out in 'clumps': Katie Thurston details impact of cancer treatment

Katie Thurston is suffering memory loss and her hair is coming out in "clumps" amid her cancer treatment. The 34-year-old star is battling stage four cancer and though she is still feeling optimistic, she admitted there are days when she allows herself to feel bad because having the disease "sucks". Speaking in a video shared to Instagram, she said: 'I wanted to do weekly check-ins that are just like uncut, raw emotions of whatever comes to my mind. I just finished my second month of treatment and if you're asking how long treatment is, technically forever. "I am optimistic about medical advancements in the future. Fingers crossed as a stage 4 girly. 'But right now, after finishing two months of my medication, my hair is coming out in an unnatural amount of clumps. Working on that. I'm losing my memory. That's great. Going through customs and them being like, 'Where are you coming from?' And I looked at him and I was like, 'I don't remember. I don't remember.'' The 'Bachelorette' star joked she and her husband Jeff Arcuri got into a "little disagreement" over her memory loss. She added: 'I was like, 'This has happened before.' He was like, 'When?' I was like, 'I don't know but I know it has!' 'We're able to laugh about it now. But yeah, cancer is s***. Sometimes I'm like, 'Stop feeling bad for yourself.' Other times I'm like, 'You're allowed to feel bad for yourself. Cancer f****** sucks.'' Katie is currently having to make "big decisions" about how to treat the cancer in her liver, whether that be through radiation, ablation, histotripsy, and explained medication zoladex - which is used to treat hormone-dependent cancers - didn't work so she is switching to lupron, and if that doesn't prove effective either, she may need to have her ovaries removed. She added: "Not ideal. But the vacation was nice. Now I'm back at it again in New York City trying to live my best life as a f*****cancer patient. "Sorry I'm not going to edit that out. I'm just going to end this because I want it just to be my truth, I guess. Anyway, happy Sunday.' Katie is proud to be a "survivor" amid her treatment. She noted: 'Anyway, it's National Cancer Survivors Day. Every day that I'm alive, I'm a survivor. So go me, I guess.'

Shannakian Fine Jewellery slapped with warning for undelivered jewels

Don't miss out on the headlines from Victoria. Followed categories will be added to My News. A jeweller to stars including Bec Judd and Brit Selwood is in hot water after being hit with a warning from Victoria's consumer watchdog. Shannakian Fine Jewellery sells bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings including a $13,400 'Diamond Eternity Ring' through its website, Instagram account and Melbourne showroom. Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) has revealed that the jeweller was subject to 67 complaints from hopeful buyers alleging the business has accepted payment but not delivered and failed to provide refunds. The watchdog warned consumers to be careful and be wary before purchasing Shannakian Fine Jewellery products. The Shannakian brand is popular among Australian stars and influencers, having been worn by Bec Judd, Sonia Kruger, Roxy Jacenko and more in posts on the jeweller's social media. The Melbourne-based business has reached as far as Los Angeles, with Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner both being seen wearing Shannakian necklaces in a 2019 episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians. Once customer who complained to CAV said they had paid the jeweller $27,000 for a necklace which they never received. The buyer followed up many times before asking for a refund, which CAV said was never honoured. Complaints against the retailer have been flowing since 15 February 2021, with customers saying they had requested refunds that were not provided, including for faulty products. Most of the complaints were for sales on the jeweller's Instagram page, which has 25,000 followers. A Facebook post from CAV was flooded with comments from more customers, alleging they were also still waiting for jewellery they had ordered. 'So glad to see this!! I had huge issues with them several years ago,' one commenter wrote. 'About time it has been made more public!!' The jeweller was first opened in 2007 by Hovig Shannakian. The company's website detailed his 'unrelenting quest for perfection' that has seen the jewellery become a 'go to for discerning jewellery lovers and celebrities'. Brit Selwood was pictured earlier this year at the Australian Grand Prix with Shannakian jewellery. Other celebrities and influencers who have worn the products from the label include former Miss Universe Australia Maria Thattil and The Bachelor star Snezana Wood. In a post on the jeweller's Instagram page Candice Warner is pictured with husband David Warner with a description that described her as wearing 'her favourite paperclip necklace'. Any people who have had a bad experience with Shannakian Fine Jewellery have been encouraged to contact CAV.
