Rajbhar adamant to field candidate on Mau Sadar
With disqualification of MLA Abbas Ansari from UP assembly following his conviction in a hate speech case leading to two-year jail term, his vacated Mau Sadar seat could be a potential bone of contention between the ruling BJP and ally OP Rajbhar's Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP). Rajbhar is insisting to field his candidate from the seat. In fact, the seat rightfully belongs to SBSP as Ansari, though a sympathiser of SP, had contested on the symbol of SBSP which was in alliance with SP in 2022 Assembly elections. Post polls, Rajbhar parted ways from Akhilesh and joined NDA, becoming a minister in Yogi cabinet.
Pitched battle between revenue officers
Six days after allegedly assaulting a junior officer inside income tax office in Lucknow, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax Yogendra Kumar Mishra was suspended on Wednesday. The order said a criminal case is under investigation against Mishra, a 2014-batch IRS officer, currently posted in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. Pending inquiry, his headquarters has been shifted to Kolkata. Mishra has been directed not to leave headquarters without prior permission. The move comes in the wake of allegations levelled against him by Gaurav Garg, a 2016-batch IRS officer posted in Lucknow. Garg had filed an FIR accusing Mishra of launching a violent, premeditated attack on him.
District judge issues memo over 'stale' snack
Apparently, a trivial request of tea and biscuits by an Additional District Judge in an eastern UP district court drove her to issue a written memo to the attendant. The memo, needless to say, went viral. The ADJ was hosting a colleague in her chamber during lunch break and requested two cups of tea and biscuits. The attendant returned with two steaming cups, but no biscuits. The judge once asked again for the biscuits. The attendant nodded and disappeared, only to return with a small plate of 'dalmoth' (a snack). But there was a problem: the dalmoth was stale. As per the memo issued to the attendant, it was old, stale, and carried a foul smell.

HC bench orders UP govt not to demolish any madrassa in Shravasti
Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has ordered that the Uttar Pradesh authorities would not take any coercive action against more than two dozen madrassas of Shravasti district. It also cautioned the state that it would not demolish any madrassas which have approached the court. The bench asked the state government to file its reply against the writ petitions till July 3. A bench of Justice Jaspreet Singh passed the order on the petitions moved by Madarssa Moinul Islam Qasmiya Samiti and 26 other madrassas individually in Shravasti. In April, the UP had govt launched a major drive against illegal encroachments in districts near the India-Nepal border, Bahraich, Shravasti, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, and Balrampur, demolishing hundreds of unauthorised structures, including unrecognised religious institutions. Illegal constructions were demolished in Shravasti and Bahraich, while in Siddharthnagar, 12 illegal structures were identified and notices issued. In Lakhimpur Kheri, a day-long survey found no illegal encroachments. These actions target long-standing illegal occupations of valuable border land, which the Yogi govt is determined to reclaim, the UP govt order said. In his order on Friday, Justice Singh observed, "It is now equally well settled that where any notice in the nature of a show cause is issued, it must be issued with sufficient particularity so that the noticee can respond specifically and can know what charge is to be replied." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The bench had already passed a similar order allowing a petition filed in connection with another such madrassa, Maktab Anwarul Uloom, Shravasti, on May 14. The state had issued notices to the petitioners restraining them from imparting religious education in these madrassas. Sanjay Nishad led protest for reservation for the community in Gorakhpur's Kasarwal area had turned violent, leading to death of a youth. The case was registered against Sanjay Nishad. On Jan 13, it holds 'Sankalp Diwas' when the Nishad community reiterates its demand for inclusion in SC list for reservation. On Aug 16, the party observes foundation day, which it marks as a show of strength through rallies and other programmes, again to drum up support for the SC status. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo In addition, the party organises events to tell voters how it has been pressing for an SC tag for all the sub-castes of Nishads in UP. NCP members' involvement in crimes will be discussed at anniversary event, says Sunil Tatkare
Pune: The dissolution of NCP's entire Beed district unit, the resignation of former Pune city unit chief Deepak Mankar, and the expulsion of Rajendra Hagawane, who was arrested in connection with his daughter-in-law's death, will be on the agenda for discussions when deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar-led party celebrates its 26th anniversary in Pune on June 10. Confirming this, state NCP president Sunil Tatkare on Friday said it is quite unfortunate that some office bearers were found to be involved in criminal activities, and police cases were also registered against them. "We have acted against such members but I feel that a person involved in crimes should not be associated with the party." After the split in 2023, both factions have been organising separate conventions to mark anniversaries in Pune since last year. This time, Ajit Pawar 's camp will hold its event at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, while NCP(SP) headed by Sharad Pawar has chosen Balgandharva Auditorium for its convention's venue. Tatkare said senior leadership has taken cognisance of all criminal cases involving party functionaries, and on June 10, they will reflect on them. "All members will be told not to indulge in any criminal activity, or they will face action even within the party." Amidst speculations of a possible merger of both factions, Tatkare said, "I am categorically saying that we have not received any such proposal. We have a core group within NCP which makes all the important decisions, and there has been no discussion on this topic." He further said his party is not deviating from its stand of being within NDA. "The discussion of joining NDA had been going on since 2014, and finally, the party collectively took a call to be part of the alliance under the leadership of Ajit Pawar. Now, those who support our stand and want to join us, we will welcome them." Earlier this year, NCP had to disband its Beed district unit after it came to light that some of the officer bearers were named in the FIR registered in connection with the Massajog sarpanch murder case. Mankar recently resigned from his post after a case of forgery was registered against him in Pune. The top brass expelled Hagawane from the party after he was named in the FIR related to the death of his daughter-in-law Vaishnavi. Later he was arrested.
