Using two BAGGEBO bookcases from IKEA, which start from just £25 a pop, Gemma built a sleek and stylish LED shelving feature that looks like it came straight out of a designer showroom.
She carefully positioned the flat-pack shelves side-by-side, then used thin wooden boards to frame around the units, giving them a high-end, custom-built finish.
After securing everything in place, she painted the entire unit, including the added trim, so it blended seamlessly into the wall.
To take the look to the next level, she added a clever lighting trick that set social media alight.
The final result was a luxe LED shelving unit that looks worth thousands, for just a fraction of the cost.
'Everyone's been asking about the lights,' she said in a follow-up video.
'They're from Amazon, just £3 each. You peel the stickers off the back and pop them into the shelves exactly where you want them.'
The tiny lights are USB-chargeable, so no wiring is needed, and come with a motion sensor setting to save battery.
The lights come in warm white, neutral white or cool white.
'They're even dimmable. It's made this space look so much more luxurious.'
I swear by 7 cheap hacks to transform a newbuild house into a home - your shoes will never be left in a messy pile again
And she's not wrong. Similar built-in shelving features with LED lighting can cost upwards of £2,000 from furniture specialists, while even cheaper pre-lit versions retail for around £800.
By DIY-ing the project, Gemma has saved herself hundreds and won plenty of fans online.
'I love this,' one viewer gushed.
Another added: 'This looks so beautiful and creative.'
A third wrote: 'Stunning, it looks really expensive.'
Gemma's viral IKEA hack proves you don't need a big budget to create a high-end look, just a bit of imagination, some clever lighting, and a trip to IKEA.
She's not the only nifty homeowner showing off Ikea hacks.
A mum has given her son's bedroom the ultimate makeover on a budget.
Nichola Ryan was able to give her son's tiny room the ultimate transformation and even make sure he had more space too,
The mum took to social media and posted a photo of her jaw-dropping project on DIY On A Budget, a private Facebook group with 2.2 million members.
The DIY fan showed off the new room which featured navy walls along with a wooden panelled feature wall.
However, the room was so small that it was difficult for the mum to find storage solutions that would fit in it.
Luckily, she stumbled across a hack that meant she could turn the bed into a storage unit as well.
Instead of buying a brand new bedframe for the transformation, she instead headed to Ikea to pick up a Kallax unit.
The cubed storage unit costs £50 and the mum picked up two of them to turn it into the bedframe.
Elsewhere, a clever shopper explained how she took advantage of Ikea's Buyback scheme and managed to get £164.50 back for a set of drawers she purchased two years ago.

Mitch Lane is not like your average food TikToker. The dad of three is from Wolverhampton and has been posting his food-based content on social media since 2020. He is 32 years old and was previously a tool salesman in Walsall. His first post on his TikTok account was a mouthwatering Kinder Bueno, and from there, his platform grew. His first viral video came after he reconnected the famous McDonald's Big Mac from scratch, receiving over a million views on that alone. Since then, the proud Wolves Football Club fan has amassed over 1.2million loyal followers who stayed tuned to see his latest creation. His ethos is about helping people save, without scrimping on taste, and so Mitch has been praised for his honest and empathetic addressing of the current cost-of-living crisis. What are his books? Mitch has made it his mission to show busy parents how to cook on a budget, and he brought his TikToks to written form after releasing two cookbooks. 4 Mitch Lane has produced two cookbooks all around helping families save money Credit: Instagram/@mealsbymitchofficial The self-taught chef authored his debut book, Feed Your Family For A Fiver, which was released in 2023. He told The i Paper: "For my friends and family at home, I think it is both weird and exciting to see me achieving this success. "You don't tend to see people from Wolverhampton on the telly, so when one of us is on there, we really cheer each other on."

Bananas keep fresh for 'almost a month' when stored with one kitchen item

A food expert has shared a simple storage hack for prolonging the life of bananas, and it promises to keep them fresh and yellow for an impressive period of time Bananas are a delicious and nutritious snack that are easy to grab on the go, but they're notoriously known for rapidly ripening. ‌ Various methods can help extend the shelf life of the fruit, including wrapping the stems with cling film and foil. However, one food expert has revealed a distinctive storage trick that promises to keep bananas fresh for up to a remarkable 26 days. ‌ Amy Cross demonstrated the technique on her TikTok account @amycrosslegacy, showing precisely what to do in the clip, which has garnered more than 100 likes. It comes after a doctor's warning to people who drink even a 'single cup of tea'. ‌ Half a million free Cinnamon Social slices up for grabs in Ole & Steen's UK-wide giveaway The social media user sliced a banana into sections while keeping the peel on and placed them in a glass jar in the fridge. In a follow-up video, she then disclosed that astonishingly, the banana pieces remained fresh with vibrant yellow skins after 26 days, reports the Express. ‌ She said: "These are the bananas I purchased on March 13, and I cut this into thirds and put it into a jar, so they're 26 days old." Amy originally intended to see if she could maintain a cut banana fresh for longer hours, but she far surpassed that target by achieving weeks of freshness. "The whole goal of putting the bananas in the jar was to see if I can get a cut bananas to last 12 hours, and it's been 26 days," she added. ‌ If you're not keen on chopping your bananas, store them in a cool, shaded spot. Bananas should be maintained at roughly 12 degrees, as they'll ripen quicker if they're too warm. Bananas thrive in a room with low light and no direct sunlight, so a toasty kitchen isn't the best place for them. If you're looking to store peeled bananas, the juice trick is your best bet. Once a banana has been sliced and exposed to air, it's prone to browning quickly. To prevent this, it's recommended to drizzle some lemon or pineapple juice over it, making it perfect for a fruit salad.
