
Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure to participate in 4th edition of Electric Vehicles Innovation Summit

DUBAI (WAM)The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) will participate in the fourth edition of the Electric Vehicles Innovation Summit (EVIS 2025), to be held from April 21-23 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).Deemed the largest and most significant EV event in the MENA region, the Summit will draw the participation of an elite lineup of experts, decision-makers, and representatives of EV manufacturers and solution providers.At EVIS, the Ministry will highlight the UAE's efforts to support EV infrastructure, particularly the launch of UAEV, a joint venture between the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and Etihad Water and Electricity as a strategic step to deploy a nationwide charging network that supports the country's EV ambitions.During the summit, the Ministry will hold the third edition of the annual EV Majlis that will bring together CEOs of global EV manufacturers, government stakeholders, charging infrastructure leaders, and selected experts, to discuss the challenges facing the sector and develop practical solutions.
Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, said, 'The UAE is advancing its e-mobility landscape through developing an integrated infrastructure, empowered by clean tech and innovation, to reduce carbon emissions from the transport sector and contribute to the UAE's net-zero by 2050 target. The Ministry continues to build synergies with its partners from the government and private sector to advance e-mobility solutions, increase the number of EV chargers, update legislative frameworks, and encourage investments in smart mobility. EVIS 2025 is an ideal platform for forging meaningful partnerships and showcasing the latest EV innovations from all over the world. It also offers a strategic opportunity for the UAE to underscore its regional and global leadership in adopting sustainable transport solutions.'

India's Modi says he's received invitation for G7 summit in Canada
India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he looked forward to meeting his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney during the Group of Seven summit, after the latter invited him to the gathering over a phone call on Friday. India is not a part of the grouping but can be invited as a guest to its annual gathering, which will be held this year in Kananaskis in the Canadian province of Alberta, from June 15-17. "Glad to receive a call from Prime Minister (Carney)...thanked him for the invitation to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis later this forward to our meeting at the Summit," Modi said in a post on X. The invitation suggests that both sides want to rebuild ties, which have nosedived in the last two years after Canada accused India of involvement undefined in a Sikh separatist leader's murder, and of attempting to interfere in the country's 2019 and 2021 elections. New Delhi denied both allegations. Modi also stated in his post that India and Canada would work together "with renewed vigour, guided by mutual respect and shared interests". India is Canada's 10th largest trading partner and Canada is the biggest exporter of pulses, including lentils, to India. Ottawa holds the rotational G7 presidency this year.
