AAP leaders counter Sirsa's claims, say he's part of the problem

Ludhiana: The Aam Aadmi Party strongly countered BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa's "baseless accusations" against the Punjab government. AAP leaders Malvinder Kang and Neel Garg claimed that Sirsa had a "questionable past" and alleged rapid deterioration of governance in Delhi under the BJP's watch.

Malvinder Kang said that Sirsa played a role in corruption as OSD to Sukhbir Badal during the SAD-BJP tenure. "Everyone knows what that era was about—corruption, the proliferation of drugs, and a complete collapse of governance," Kang said.
Referring to registration of an FIR filed by Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing in 2021, he said, "When the law started catching up, Sirsa didn't turn to BJP out of ideology; he joined them to save himself from jail," Kang claimed.
Neel Garg criticised Sirsa's role as cabinet minister in Delhi, highlighting the "glaring failures" of the BJP government in just a few months. He pointed out the "severe water crisis" brought about by the resurgence" of the tanker mafia, daily power cuts and skyrocketing private school fees imposing unbearable burden on parents.
Garg also talked about the closure of mohalla clinics due to staff shortage, removal of bus marshals, compromising women's safety, and delayed pensions leaving widows and senior citizens in distress.
"These failures reflect the BJP's inability to govern and their dismantling of the systems AAP painstakingly built to serve the people," Garg alleged.
"The BJP has dismantled everything AAP built in Delhi. People of Delhi are already regretting their decision and are openly saying, 'We made a mistake, we want AAP back,'" Garg claimed.
Garg also questioned Sirsa's connection with Punjab, describing him as an opportunist from Haryana, meddling in Punjab's politics.

"When Sirsa was OSD to Sukhbir Badal, he enjoyed Punjab's resources and salaries. Now, he points fingers at the same state he exploited," Garg alleged.
Reiterating their commitment to transforming the state, Garg said, "Unlike Sirsa and the BJP, we worked tirelessly to bring change—revamping schools, providing free medicines in hospitals, giving jobs without bribes or recommendations, and taking a tough stand against drug mafia," said Garg.
He also defended the land pooling policy of the state government, describing it as a game changer for farmers, ensuring their consent and offering fair compensation along with a stake in future profits.

Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu once again lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while blaming the saffron party's predecessor government for pushing the state in financial crisis. Sukhu was addressing a public meeting at Daulatpur Chowk in Una district on Saturday. Taking jibe at the BJP, Sukhu said, 'During five years of its regime, the BJP kept on boasting about the 'double engine sarkar', but could not significantly contribute to the development of the state and raised loans from the Centre, thus pushing the state in financial crisis'. The Chief Minister announced additional funds for the remaining work on the Daulatpur-Bhadrakali road, for which ₹15 crore has already been spent. He also declared that the necessary funds will be released to complete the remaining construction work of the new building of Gagret Hospital. The Chief Minister informed the public that the survey work for the Hoshiarpur-Nadaun four-lane road project has been completed and the construction work will commence shortly. He further assured that the Shivbari Fair will be granted district-level status. In addition, the vacant posts of doctors at Daulatpur Chowk and Gagret Primary Health Centres will be filled soon to improve healthcare services in the region. The Chief Minister also announced the installation of tube wells in water-scarce areas of the Gagret Assembly Constituency to address the issue of drinking water shortage. He also mentioned that there were some concerns regarding the establishment of a Bulk Drug Park in Haroli. However, the construction of the park is now set to begin soon. Criticizing the previous government's education policies, the Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh, once ranked among the top states in quality education, has dropped down to 21st position due to 'flawed policies' of the previous BJP government. 'The present government has decided to merge such schools to ensure qualitative education and a better future for students,' said the chief minister. He added that Una district has become the first solar-powered district in the state. Solar power projects of 32 MW in Pekhubela, 5 MW in Bhanjal, and 10 MW in Aghlaur have been completed in record time. Additionally, projects with a combined capacity of 163 MW are under construction, involving an investment of ₹500 crore. 'In the future, Una will not only meet its electricity demands but also supply power to other districts. Moreover, an ultra-modern Bulk Drug Park is coming up in Haroli, which will create job opportunities and significantly strengthen Una's industrial presence,' added Sukhu. Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, in his address, said that ₹170 crore has been invested solely in water supply schemes in the Gagret Assembly Constituency. 'This will offer a permanent solution to drinking water and irrigation problems,' said Agnihotri.

2 injured as Delhi govt's new DEVI bus rams bicycle in Loni
Two people got injured on Friday morning after a Delhi government bus rammed their bicycle in Loni area, police said, adding that it was the government's recently launched Devi (Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector) bus. 'The electric bus involved in the accident was speeding and driven rashly. It later hit two people travelling on a bicycle. One of the injured, Kailash Singh, 52, lost a leg while Ghanshyam did not sustain serious injuries. They both were rushed to a hospital in Delhi, and are under treatment,' Ajay Kumar Singh, ACP of Ankur Vihar Circle, said. 'Once the families file a complaint, we will register an FIR. The electric bus from Delhi was seized soon after the incident,' the ACP added. Harendra Malik, SHO of Loni Border police station said the driver has been identified. They will detain him once a complaint is filed. The incident triggered a political spat between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with the former blaming the BJP government for the incident, claiming the buses are being handed over to the drivers without any training. 'A tragic accident happened at Loni border – who is responsible? Delhi government's Devi electric bus crushed several people. This accident is not just an accident, it is the result of the gross negligence of the BJP government running in Delhi. The bus is handed over to the driver without training. Drivers are being recruited through private companies with no standards of experience and safety. Why is an important public service like DTC being given on contract? Why are drivers not being properly trained? Why is every week some innocent person losing his life on the road? This is not just an accident, this is a picture of the failure of Rekha Gupta's government,' AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha said in a post on X. Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor hit out at the AAP, saying that the 'so-called untrained drivers have been working since the time of the AAP government.' When asked about the incident, a transport department official said necessary actions will be taken as per relevant laws after a complaint is filed.
