Draft, his mother, Kelly Flagg, casually stole a bit of that limelight with a witty remark that had fans across social media in stitches.
Moments after her son was selected No. 1 overall by the Dallas Mavericks, a video was posted by Chime.
It was a part of a promotional partnership captured with a light-hearted exchange between Cooper and his mom that quickly went viral. Jokingly, Kelly explained that she married her husband because she wanted her kids to be tall.

The Flagg family has long been basketball royalty in their hometown, but on Wednesday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, their bond became a national story. Following Cooper's historic selection, Chime released a behind-the-scenes video interview with the mother-son duo. In the clip, Kelly jokingly explained her marriage in front of Cooper with a line that instantly lit up social media:
'That's why I married your dad.
He's tall, and I thought maybe I could get some tall basketball babies.'
Then, with a proud smile, she added, 'So I guess it was a success.'

At 6-foot-9, Ralph Flagg certainly passed on the genes. Cooper, now listed at 6-foot-8, proved more than worthy of that basketball blueprint, dominating at Duke and earning the National Player of the Year honor in his lone season. He averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks on 48.1% shooting.

His stats made him the consensus top pick and a foundational piece for the Mavericks.
But Cooper's path wasn't built on talent alone. The Flagg household was steeped in competition and encouragement. In a pre-draft feature with ESPN, the 18-year-old forward recalled intense one-on-one games with his mom growing up.
'We used to play one-on-one all the time in the driveway …. She used to beat me all the time,' he admitted.
Kelly, who scored over 1,000 points during her college career at the University of Maine and helped the team secure its first NCAA tournament win in 1999, had high hopes for her son, not just for his skill, but for his passion.
'I just hoped that he loved the game as much as we all have,' she told ESPN after the draft. 'We're just thrilled he did love it and got to this moment, it's incredible.'

This stylish Indian businesswoman is also attending Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding

Natasha Poonawalla, the only Indian guest at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's lavish Venice wedding, made a bold fashion statement. She wore a fiery red mini dress from AZ Factory's Spring 2022 collection, adorned with 3D heart motifs. Her confidence and sleek accessories, including a heart-shaped diamond necklace, completed the look. Move over, minimalists, Natasha Poonawalla just showed up at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's star-studded Venice wedding, and she may have been the most daring look of the weekend. As the only known Indian guest at the three-day extravaganza (kicking off June 27, 2025), the philanthropist-cum-socialite didn't just attend, she arrived. Picture this: Natasha sashayed into the celebrations in a fiery red mini dress straight from AZ Factory's Spring 2022 collection. Think strapless cut, sculpted tailoring, dramatic puffed shoulders—it was as if the dress itself was shouting, 'Here for love, and bold fashion!' The pièce de résistance? A torrent of 3D heart motifs blooming across the silhouette—an unapologetic nod to the newlyweds. There were vertical ruffles, pin-straight frills, and tassels swaying with every step, enough drama to rival the Venetian canals at night. And sure, the dress was loud, complex, and eye-catching, but Natasha's confidence? That was the real showstopper, making the whole look feel seamless rather than gimmicky. Accessories? She kept it heartfelt and sleek. A heart-shaped diamond necklace added just the right touch of sparkle without competing with the dress. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cuối cùng, chơi miễn phí game chiến thuật hay nhất 2025! A bronzed, dewy face with a subtle shimmer, peach-nude matte lips, and soft contouring made her look like a sun-kissed godmother of glam. A bold winged eyeliner and mascara-fanned lashes added cheeky drama and framed her eyes beautifully. And let's talk hair: her sleek, mid-part ponytail looked effortlessly polished yet playful, wrapped with a satin red ribbon that tied back the whole look. It was the cherry on top or maybe the heart on top, given the theme. At a wedding literally about love, hearts, and a new chapter for Bezos and Sánchez, Natasha's ensemble screamed romance in the most modern, fearless way possible. When you're at a wedding that's already magazine-cover-level glamorous, she didn't just blend in, she stole the spotlight. Whether you're heading to a glam wedding or want to dial up your love-themed look, take a page from Natasha's playbook: go bold, commit to the theme, and let confidence be your best accessory.

At 89, Salman Khan's father, Salim Khan, eats 3 parathas, rice and dessert twice a day. How he keeps himself fit?

At 89, Salim Khan continues to walk to Bandstand every morning, eat three parathas, enjoy dessert twice a day—and still be an enduring example of fitness. That's the kind of inspiration Salman Khan opened up about in a recent episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, offering a rare, heartfelt glimpse into his off-screen world. While Salman is known for his disciplined lifestyle, it was his admiration for his father's daily routine and spirited health that stood out. Salman shared that Salim Khan, despite his age, enjoys a hearty meal of 2–3 parathas, rice, meat, and dessert twice daily. Yet, his energy and consistency in taking his morning walks to the Bandstand leave the entire family in awe. He further expressed his pride in his father's discipline and metabolism levels. What does Salman Khan's routine look like? Reflecting on his own routine, Salman revealed that he practices extreme moderation in eating. His meals usually consist of just a spoonful of rice, vegetables, and lean protein like chicken, mutton, or fish. He avoids overindulgence and stays committed to a clean, focused lifestyle—principles that, he proudly notes, helped bring fitness culture into the Indian film industry. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Plutselig ned i vekt – hva er trikset? Javed Akhtar defends Diljit Dosanjh amid Sardaar Ji 3 row: ‘Iss mein Pakistani aadmi ka paisa toh nahi doobega, Hindustani ka paisa doobega. Toh phir kya faayda?'

Veteran screenwriter and poet Javed Akhtar has spoken out in defence of singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh , who is currently facing backlash over his Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3, which features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The film released worldwide today, June 27, except in India, amid controversy over its casting and timing. 'He didn't know this would happen' In a recent conversation with NDTV, Akhtar responded to questions about whether it was fair to criticise Diljit for working with a Pakistani actor. 'Ab kya karein bechara. The movie was shot earlier. Usko pata toh nahi tha ki aisa hoga,' he said, referring to the Pahalgam terrorist attack earlier this year, after which the controversy escalated. He added that the production was completed before the unfortunate incident and said, 'Iss mein Pakistani aadmi ka paisa toh nahi doobega, Hindustani ka paisa doobega. Toh phir kya faayda?' implying that punishing the film would only harm Indian stakeholders. Javed Akhtar suggests a balanced approach Akhtar suggested that the authorities should take a more empathetic view of the situation. 'Usko pehle pata hota yeh hone wala hain, toh woh thodi na leta Pakistani actress,' he said, suggesting that Diljit would have made a different decision had he known what was coming. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Plastic Surgeon Reveals The 1 Thing Every Woman Should Be Using Instead Of Moisturiser New Skin Discovery Undo He continued, 'I think the government and the censor board should look at the situation with a little sympathy. Backlash grows as FWICE appeals to Imtiaz Ali and PM Modi The controversy surrounding Sardaar Ji 3 intensified after the trailer dropped on June 22, revealing Hania Aamir's involvement. Since then, Diljit and his team have faced criticism from various quarters, including the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). The film body recently sent a strongly-worded letter to filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, urging him to sever ties with Diljit Dosanjh. Imtiaz is currently working on an untitled film with the singer-actor, reportedly scheduled for release in April 2026, featuring Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari. Diljit Dosanjh Reacts to Sardaar Ji 3 Boycott | Breaks Silence on Hania Aamir FWICE's letter stated, 'Your involvement risks sending a deeply conflicting message, especially given your influence as a director known for socially resonant themes… We strongly appeal to you to reconsider your collaboration with Diljit Dosanjh and withdraw from associating with any artist who has been officially boycotted by FWICE.' Going a step further, FWICE has appealed to the Government of India to take stringent action against Diljit and the film's makers. Their letter requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to revoke their passports and cancel their Indian citizenship, calling for a complete industry boycott. Despite the uproar, Sardaar Ji 3 has managed to release globally, barring India.
