How many players are on Texas A&M's roster after landing junior guard Rylan Griffen?
New Texas A&M head coach Bucky McMillan has already exceeded expectations ahead of his first season with the program, bringing in eight commitments from the transfer portal after landing former Alabama and Kansas guard Rylan Griffen, beating out Alabama head coach Nate Oats, who was hoping to reunite with the sharpshooter.
Griffen's skillset is borderline elite, and while he only averaged 6.3 points and 1.4 assists, and shot 33.6% from beyond the arc with the Jayhawks, his final season with the Crimson Tide included 11.2 points per game, 3.4 rebounds, and a 39.2% three-point shooting percentage.
On Thursday, former Texas Tech forward Federiko Federkio committed to the Aggies after attending Texas A&M's baseball game vs. Lamar on Tuesday, and for those unaware of the Egypt-born big man's play style, the Aggies won't have to worry about rebounding and defensive effort on his end, while his inside game led by making nearly 75% of his shots last season. With the Aggies, Federiko looks like a starter.
However, just hours before Griffen's commitment was announced, McMillan lost one of his first portal commitments, former Oklahoma guard Duke Miles, who may have seen the writing on the wall after Griffen entered the picture.
With the recent movement, Texas A&M now has nine players on the 2025 roster, but McMillan is not finished adding just yet. Still, it's hard not to be impressed with the talent and experience he and his coaching staff have to work with, ranging from proven star power in Mackenzie Mgbacko to unproven, but potential big men who can stretch the floor in Zach Clemence and Jamie Vinson IV.

Former Texas A&M legend, current NFL head coach awarded for lifetime achievements Former Texas A&M legend and current Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell was honored with the Lettermen's Association 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award on Monday for his contributions as an Aggie and his achievements as a coach. The Texas A&M football program put together a surprise for Campbell, as he thought he was only joining his former strength coach Mike Clark for an "interview" about his time playing in Bryan-College Station, Texas. Little did he know, awaiting him would be several of his former coaches, teammates and players from throughout his career to congratulate him on the outstanding honor. Campbell played tight end for the Aggies from 1995-1998, hauling in 27 receptions for 314 yards and three touchdowns in the Maroon and White. Following the end of his collegiate career, he was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft. The Clifton, Texas, native spent stints with the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, and New Orleans Saints before transitioning into his career as a coach. He started as an intern with the Miami Dolphins, where he quickly found his footing. After the Dolphins fired former head coach Joe Philbin, Campbell was anointed the interim head coach. Campbell returned to New Orleans in 2016 to become the new assistant head coach and tight ends coach, before he was hired by the Lions in 2021 to become the 28th head coach of the franchise. Since then, the former Aggie has broken the mold in Detroit to form one of the powerhouse teams in the NFC. The Lions have reached unprecedented heights over the last few seasons under Campbell, which included securing a 12-5 record to tie the franchise's single-season wins record, claiming the first divisional title since 1993 and advancing to the first NFC Championship since 1991. His gritty mentality, determination and dedication to the game of football have been well-received by the Lions fanbase. However, those traits and Campbell's contributions on and off the gridiron at Texas A&M are what led to this moment. Texas A&M has been in contact with Texas transfer outfielder This summer is a big one for Texas A&M baseball head coach Michael Earley, who was surprisingly, to some at least, retained last Friday as Athletic Director Trev Alberts made the final decision to retain the young skipper after the Aggies' 30-26 (11-19 SEC) record, which included a shocking series loss to Missouri that ultimately ended the program's postseason hopes. Knowing that several offensive stars on the 2025 roster, including Wyatt Henseler, and, most likely Jace LaViolette will depart the program, Earley will need to replace their production, which will be tough to do, but isn't an impossible task in today's transfer portal age. After the portal opened on Monday, On3's Pete Nakos reported that Earley and his staff have reached out to Texas transfer outfielder Donovan Jordan, who redshirted with the Longhorns during the 2025 season. Here is what Burnt Orange Nation's Wescott Eberts had to say about Jackson's skilset despite not playing last season: "The 6'1, 210-pounder redshirted at Texas during the 2025 season after signing with the previous coaching staff ranked as the No. 429 player nationally and the No. 73 outfielder, according to Perfect Game." "Jordan arrived on the Forty Acres with a strong swing efficiency built on his hip rotation to produce exit velocities in the 86th percentile, but wasn't able to find playing time in a deep outfield for the Longhorns." While Jordan does not represent an immediate upgrade, he is a young player with plenty of power and potetial at the plate.
