Aparshakti Gears Up To Play Villain In Emraan Hashmi's Gunmaaster G9
Aparshakti Khurana, known for winning hearts with his comic timing and lovable screen presence, is stepping into an all-new avatar. In a bold move that marks a sharp departure from his usual light-hearted roles, the actor will be seen playing a villain for the first time in Aditya Datt's upcoming family-action drama Gunmaaster G9. The film also stars Emraan Hashmi and Genelia D'Souza in pivotal roles.
Opening up about this dramatic shift in character, Aparshakti revealed that taking on a negative role was never a sudden choice but something he had been eager to explore. He said, 'I've always wanted to explore grey characters, and Gunmaaster G9 gave me the perfect opportunity," in a recent interview. 'This role is layered — it's not just about being menacing with brawn. There's intelligence, pain, and an emotional backstory that drives the madness, " as per Jay Ho.
For an actor long associated with laughter and lightness, stepping into such complexity reflects both risk and range. Director Aditya Datt, known for films like Table No. 21 and Commando 3, shared that casting Aparshakti as the antagonist was a conscious decision. Aditya Datt shared, 'He has the intensity I was looking for — but also the vulnerability. You won't be able to take your eyes off him."
Apart from showcasing a never-seen-before side of Aparshakti, Gunmaaster G9 is also grabbing headlines for reuniting Emraan Hashmi and Himesh Reshammiya. The nostalgia factor, mixed with a fresh dose of action and emotion, is expected to resonate with a wide audience.
Producer Deepak Mukut recently shared some eye-catching motion posters of the film on social media, giving fans a peek into the stylised universe of Gunmaaster G9. With intense voiceovers by Emraan, Genelia, and Aparshakti, the teasers have already begun to generate buzz. His caption read: 'Doodh to baroodh, Sabzi to Gundas, bullets to beats, Gunmaaster G9 is getting ready for mayhem, and the team is locked, loaded and lethal!" He added, 'Rockstar Entertainment are happy to bring the trio back! Emraan Hashmi, Aditya Datt & Himesh Reshammiya along with Genelia Deshmukh & Aparshakti Khurana – for a pulsating, new-age action drama, Gunmaaster G9."

CM Punk Weighs In On Dricus Du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev: 'It'll Look Like...'
Last Updated: Punk discussed the middleweight clash between Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev on August 16 in Chicago. Punk, a Chicago native, may attend with Belal Muhammed. WWE Superstar CM Punk recently weighed in on the much-anticipated middleweight clash between Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev that is set to take place on August 16 at the United Centre in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The UFC returns to the Windy City after a six-year absence, and therefore it is natural of the Chicago-born Punk to have a vested interest in the event. Punk himself has fought for the promotion on two occasions. However, to call his performances lacklustre would be an understatement, as he got utterly dominated and battered by his opponents. Regardless, his celebrity status as one of the biggest names to cross-over, alongside Brock Lesnar, who enjoyed much greater success inside the octagon, is undisputed. He has also stated that he might even make an appearance at the pay-per-view. 'I'm very excited, I'm probably ultimately going to be very disappointed too because I don't know if I can go to the show, I've got to look at my calendar," Punk told Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen on the recent episode of their collaborative show, Good Guy/Bad Guy. Dissecting the fight, he remarked, 'That's going to be a wild main event, man. That's going to be (wild). It's so hard to bet against Chimaev, you know, especially after what he did to (Robert) Whittaker but I think Dricus is really really smart, probably smarter than a lot of people give him credit for. 'He knows what his game plan is going to be, he knows Chimaev is gonna come and try to dive on an ankle right out of the gate so I'm sure he's doing his preparation, that's what's going to make this so fascinating. 'I don't know if I see this making five rounds and if it does, we're probably gonna have two very tired fighters and it'll look like Derrick Lewis vs (Francis) Ngannou," Punk said. CM Punk With Belal Muhammed? Punk, continuing on the podcast stated that he might make his appearance, sharing the spotlight with the former UFC welterweight champion, Belal Muhammed. 'Brother, I'm so busy, like it's absolutely insane. I know we're in Europe for a big chunk of August but I don't think it's until the last week of August so I've got to double check. Hopefully I'll be there, I'm gonna sit next to my bud Belal," Punk added. view comments First Published: August 02, 2025, 10:09 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri starrer Dhadak 2, directed by Shazia Iqbal, hit theatres yesterday, on August 1. A spiritual sequel to the 2018 film Dhadak, this version is a remake of the acclaimed Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. Alongside the lead pair, the film also features Zakir Hussain and Saurabh Sachdeva in pivotal roles. Dhadak 2 locked horns with Vijay Kumar Arora's Son of Sardaar 2. The action comedy features a star-studded ensemble including Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Vindu Dara Singh, Dolly Ahluwalia, Neeru Bajwa, Chunky Panday, Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, Sharat Saxena, Sahil Mehta, and debutant Roshni Walia.
