Teachers association refutes allegation against Rani Channamma University Vice-Chancellor
Prof. Tyagaraja has been leading the university towards progress. His future vision and tireless efforts have significantly contributed to the academic and infrastructure development in the university, it said.
However, some vested interests have been making false allegation against him. It is baseless and far from truth. We condemn such efforts to malign an academic's reputation, it said.
Association president J. Manjanna said that the allegation was made by those who cannot tolerate the Vice-Chancellor's achievements.
'There appears to be a hidden conspiracy behind the allegation aimed at tarnishing the university's reputation. However, the accusation has no substance when verified with the documents available in the university. The Vice-Chancellor has been working tirelessly for the progress of the university. He is introducing innovative ideas for qualitative education and the university's overall development is advancing through several progressive initiatives,' he said.
'Under the PM-USHA MERU scheme, with a grant of ₹100 crore, a process is under way to procure state-of-the-art equipment for the university's central laboratories and a few buildings on the new campus. The university has distributed laptops to all Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes students, reflecting its commitment to supporting students education and employment. All these are due to the Vice-Chancellor's efforts,: he said.
'The Vice-Chancellor is facilitating interaction of students with accomplished individuals from diverse fields by organizing special programmes. Some faculty members have taken up collaborative research works with prestigious universities in foreign countries. Some have published articles. Resource persons have delivered lectures to students and faculty. The university is preparing to shift to a new campus,' he said.
'It is important that administrative functioning continues smoothly without distractions. Therefore, the teachers association strongly condemns the baseless allegation against the Vice-Chancellor,' the letter said.
Protest in Vijayapura
The Dalit Vidyarthi Parishat staged a protest against the Vice-Chancellor in Vijayapura recently saying that he has fudged records to claim false academic achievements.
He has obtained voluntary retirement from the university before seeking appointment as Vice-Chancellor. His academic degrees are questionable. His work experience does not make him eligible for appointment as Vice-Chancellor, the parishat said during the protest.
Dalit Vidyarthi Parishat State president Srinath Pujari said that he has obtained some documents through RTI, to support his allegation. He said that he has written a letter to the Governor seeking action against the Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Tyagaraj, however, is yet to respond to the allegation.
