Student dies in mishap at time of I-Day function in Jodhpur

1 2 Jodhpur: A 12-year-old school student died here after being hit by a dumper truck early morning on Independence Day, while three other students accompanying him were seriously injured. All four were heading to their school on one motorcycle. Enraged family members and local residents staged a protest and blocked the road at Panchbatti Chowk. They were joined by Congress leaders to support their demands. They demanded strict action against the guilty dumper driver, along with compensation, an impartial investigation, and a job for one member of the family. After several hours of discussions, the protest was called off following an assurance of immediate financial aid of Rs 11 lakh from the CM Relief Fund, along with a promise to provide a contractual job to one dependent of the family and to extend benefits of govt schemes by the administration. This incident took place at a time when Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma was scheduled to attend an Independence Day programme at the Shaheed Memorial in Jodhpur, barely a few meters away from the accident spot. As soon as news of the accident spread, panic spread through the police administration. In view of the chief minister's visit, a large police force immediately reached the spot and tried to bring the situation under control. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Vitauthority Learn More Undo Police said the accident took place when Lokendra (12), a resident of Ratanada Nehru Colony, was riding a bike with three of his schoolmates to attend the Independence Day function at his school. SHO (Airport) Ramkrishna Tada said all four children were on the same bike, were minors, and not wearing any helmets. "In front of Hotel Radisson, their bike skidded and they fell down while overtaking a small truck loaded with stones. Wheels of the truck ran over Lokendra Singh, crushing him to death on the spot while injuring three others, and the driver fled from the spot," Tada said, adding that a distant camera recording has shown the victims going behind the truck. "We have seized the dumper and detained the driver," said Tada, adding that two injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital, while one was discharged after primary treatment. Swinging into action, police swiftly removed the dead body from the spot and arranged to clean the spot in view of the chief minister's convoy, which had to head to the airport. The family members also demanded that Chief Minister Sharma, who was in the city for the state-level Independence Day celebration, come to the spot and talk to them. But given the demonstration, the administrative officials changed the route of the chief minister to the airport, who was to board the flight back to Jaipur. Sarang condemns ‘I-Day Pakistan' hashtag from Youth Congress account

Khargone: State cooperative department minister and Khargone district in-charge, Vishvas Sarang, on Friday alleged that an Independence Day message on Facebook page of Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress carried a hashtag — 'Independence Day Pakistan. ' The message was apparently deleted soon after the controversy began. Talking to mediapersons after flag hoisting in Khargone, Sarang said, "Rahul Gandhi and Congress always talk as if they are Pakistan-loving people. Gandhi, who opposed Operation Sindoor and questioned surgical strike, is shining up his politics by speaking language of China and Pakistan and defames India after going abroad. The same mentality is evident from Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress hashtag." Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress social media chairman Devendra Bairagi, told TOI, "On Friday morning, the official Facebook account of Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress was hacked by anti-social elements in which objectionable posts were made. This incident was an attempt to disrupt the activities and communication of the organisation." He said, "Our IT team took immediate action and re-secured the account, and at present, the page is completely safe and is operating normally." A formal complaint in this regard has been given to the Delhi office. The cyber cell will also be informed for an in-depth investigation of this matter, he added.
