Rose West 'increasingly frail' at West Yorkshire prison where she's held

Yahoo2 days ago

IT has been revealed that serial killer Rose West spends her days in isolation at the West Yorkshire prison where she is an inmate.
National newspapers report that West, who has spent the last 30 years behind bars for her depraved crimes, has become increasingly frail.
She is currently at HMP New Hall in Wakefield.
Rose, along with her husband Fred West tortured, raped and murdered an unknown number of women between 1967 and 1987, most at their home in Cromwell Street, Gloucester, which became known as the 'House of Horrors', with nine sets of bones found under the patio and cellar of the house.
Fred West, a builder, killed himself in prison while awaiting trial on 12 murder charges, while mother-of-eight Rose was convicted in 1995 of murdering 10 young girls and women.
The Sun reports that she spends her days alone in her cell, knitting and watching nature documentaries.
Fellow inmates do not talk to her, it's reported, and the serial killer is said to have resigned herself to dying in prison despite having maintained her innocence.
She is understood to be living in a disabled room because she now struggles to walk.
The couple's heinous crimes have been thrown back into the spotlight amid the release of a new Netflix documentary Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story.
'Recently discovered police interview tapes with Fred offer firsthand insight into the crimes of this notorious serial-killing couple,' the synopsis says.

House Democrats investigate alleged Elon Musk drug use

The top House Democrat on a key investigative panel is asking President Trump whether he had any knowledge of alleged drug use by Elon Musk. Why it matters: The investigation comes as even House Republicans have grown exasperated with Musk's erratic antics, as Axios reported on Wednesday. Musk has stirred considerable anger with his erstwhile Republican allies by coming out harshly against Trump's "One Big, Beautiful Bill." But he's winning few friends in the Democratic Party, which is still seething at his shock-and-awe tactics as the head of DOGE. Driving the news: Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.), the acting ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, sent Trump a letter asking him "any information you or any Administration officials have regarding whether Mr. Musk consumed any illicit substances" while running DOGE. He also asked for information about whether Musk specifically took drugs while in the White House or other federal buildings or during the 2024 presidential campaign. Lynch cited reporting by the Wall Street Journal and New York Times that Musk used illicit drugs including ketamine, psychedelic mushrooms and ecstasy before and during his time campaigning for Trump. The other side: Musk denied the NYT's reporting that he took illicit drugs while on the 2024 campaign trail, posting on X that he is "NOT taking drugs!" He added, "I tried *prescription* ketamine a few years ago and said so ... so this not even news. It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven't taken it since then." Reality check: Trump is unlikely to respond to the letter, and Lynch as the ranking minority member on the panel has no power to compel him to testify or turn over documents.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry dance in delivery room before Lilibet's birth in new video

Princess Lilibet, the youngest child of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is 4! Lilibet, who goes by Lili, was born June 4, 2021, at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California, making her the first senior royal baby born in the United States and the first of the late Queen Elizabeth II's great-grandchildren to be born outside of the United Kingdom. Meghan marked her daughter's fourth birthday by sharing memories on Instagram, including a video of herself and Harry dancing in the delivery room before Lili's birth. In the video, Meghan, wearing a black sleeveless dress, and Harry, wearing jeans and a hoodie, dance next to a hospital bed to the viral song, "The Baby Momma Dance." "Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work - there was only one thing left to do! 😂," Meghan captioned the video. Earlier in the day, Meghan also shared several photos on Instagram, including a current photo showing a rare glimpse of Lili's face and a throwback photo from Lili's birth. "Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!" Meghan captioned the photos. In another post, Meghan shared two photos of Harry and Lili together, writing of their father-daughter relationship, "The sweetest bond to watch unfold 💕Daddy's little girl and favorite adventurer. Happy birthday Lili!" In addition to Lili, Harry and Meghan are also the parents of a son, Archie, who turned 6 in May. "Lili and I actually made this batch [of preserves] together," she tells friends in one of the show's episodes, adding that Lili feels "proud" helping her. "She picked all those berries with me, and then she's like, 'No, no, Mama, I'll do it.' And she wants to try. She's like, 'I'll stir it. I'll mash it.'" Lili was also featured earlier this year alongside Meghan in a promotional photo for Meghan's lifestyle brand, As Ever. Meghan Markle's daughter Lilibet featured alongside her in launch of new brand Last year, Harry told ABC News' Will Reeve that both Lili and Archie were doing "great" and "growing up very, very fast."
