Global superstar
Ram Charan
's wife recently revealed that no matter how luxurious the setting or how exotic the menu, one foot item remains non-negotiable for the 'RRR' star. He must have at least one home-cooked Indian meal a day.
And more specifically, it has to be a proper South Indian spread, the kind he grew up eating.
Superstar with simple taste
In a chat with Curly Tales, Upasana shared that her husband's love for traditional meals is the same as his father, megastar Chiranjeevi. "Even after a big dinner abroad, he'll say, 'Okay, now I need Indian food,'" she said. She shared that his go-to comfort food? Steaming hot rasam with rice, sometimes paired with a fluffy omelette topped with onions and chillies.
She said, "You get rasam that's good for health, protein from omelette.
He likes it with onions and chillis."
Upasana recalled that this craving could strike at any hour, even around 11:30 p.m., while they were travelling. They would be in some foreign city and suddenly crave South Indian food, so they would go looking for it. Over time, she started carrying dry, ready-to-cook mixes from home on their trips, ensuring that Charan could enjoy a traditional meal wherever he was.
This small hack soon turned into a much bigger idea, Athamma's Kitchen, which was launched in 2024. Inspired by her mother-in-law, Surekha Konidela, fondly called Athamma, the brand brings the Konidela family's culinary legacy to fans and food lovers worldwide. Upasana revealed that long before Ram Charan's film career, Chiranjeevi relied on these travel-friendly recipes prepared by Athamma during his shoots.
On the work front, Ram Charan is currently working on his upcoming sports drama film, 'Peddi', directed by Buchi Babu Sana. On the other hand, Chiranjeevi is working on a socio-fantasy film, 'Vishwambhara', a comedy drama film with Anil Ravipudi and more.

On World Elephant Day, A Fashion Show, Birthday Cake, 15 Happy Pachyderms

Jaipur: Fifteen elephants and a fashion parade, and some cake too. In the 'elephant village' in Jaipur there were special celebrations to mark World Elephant Day. Social Justice Minister Avinash Gehlot looked on as elephants decked up in their Sunday best paraded on the ramp, cut a cake, and enjoyed a feast of fruits, jaggery, cucumber, and sugarcane. Jaipur is home to 75 elephants. Most live in the 'village' on the outskirts of Amer City and spend their days ferrying up and down the hill on which the fort - a beautiful 12th century building - was built. The fort's location, then, meant you could only access it on an elephant or horse. But after the princely states stopped the tradition of keeping the gentle giants in Amer, they found a new occupation, i.e., ferrying tourists up to their forefathers' former home. Today their welfare is governed by an animal welfare board and the forest department. They can only make one trip up and down the hill in a day, and that too by rotation only. The rest of the day they spend at 'home', in spacious and specially-made stalls and with a personal 'swimming pool', i.e., a large pond to bathe in, and regular medical check-ups. Elephant day celebrations in Jaipurs elephant village — Harsha Kumari Singh (@harsha_ndtv) August 12, 2025 And, of course, lots of treats on World Elephant Day! All the elephants, including the lone male, were dressed in silver ornaments - from elaborate neck pieces to anklets and head gear - to walk on the red carpet The lone male, Babu, led the line, carrying his mahout who, in turn, held an Indian flag. The other elephants, including Parvati and Chanda, both adept at elegantly garlanding special guests, followed. They greeted Mr Gehlot with a five-foot-long garland. That wasn't their first interaction with dignitaries either; it was Parvati and Chanda who welcomed United States Vice President JD Vance and family to Jaipur earlier this year. And they are film stars too, with small roles in movies like 'Jodha Akbar' in 2008. Meanwhile, it was a doubly special day for another elephant. Young Junali, 18 years old now, celebrated her birthday covered in flowers and cutting her two-tiered cake with her trunk. She then proceeded to enjoy the cake as the minister and everyone sang 'happy birthday'. "There should be concern and care for animals in society and we should work towards their conservation. This is the first 'elephant village'... set up by former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Then there were over 100 elephants... the numbers have come down, but we should make every effort for their welfare," Mr Gehlot told NDTV, "The government is subsidising their care." The elephants here receive bi-annual medical check-ups. "We also monitor their routine and diet according to the season, as elephants are very sensitive to weather and temperature. We also train mahouts, or their handlers, on how to understand their behaviour and needs all through the year," veterinary Dr Arvind Mathur said. Babu Khan, under whose protection many of the elephants live, said, "Celebrations like these are welcome... it will help tourism and showcase how well the animals are looked after here."

Train Services Suspended From Rameswaram After New Pamban Bridge Faces Technical Glitch

Last Updated: Train services from Rameswaram were suspended due to a technical fault on the new Pamban Rail Bridge, affecting four trains and leaving passengers stranded. Train services from Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram were suspended for several hours on Tuesday due to a technical fault on the newly built Pamban Rail Bridge. The disruption began when railway officials detected a technical fault in the vertical lift section of the bridge. VIDEO | Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu: Train services from Rameswaram suspended due to a technical fault on the New Pamban Rail Bridge, passengers stranded. — Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) August 12, 2025 At least four trains, including Train No. 16104 Rameswaram — Tambaram Express, Train no. 16527 Rameswaram — Chennai Egmore Express, Train no. 56716 Rameswaram — Madurai passenger, and Train No. 56713 Madurai —Rameswaram Passenger, were stopped at Akka Math, news agency ANI reported. The suspension of train services left scores of passengers stranded mid-journey. Following the detection of the glitch, the Pamban Vertical Suspension Bridge was lowered, and a test run was conducted by running a train engine on it. The new Pamban Bridge connects Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu to the mainland. The bridge replaces the existing 2km-long sea bridge, which was opened in 1914. It was severely damaged by a cyclone in 1964 and was fixed at the time. Rail traffic on the old Pamban bridge was suspended in December 2022 after cracks were noticed. It is India's first vertical lift railway sea bridge. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the bridge on April 6. The bridge carries a deep cultural significance. According to the Ramayana, the construction of Ram Setu was initiated from Dhanushkodi near Rameswaram. The bridge, linking Rameswaram to the mainland, stands as a remarkable feat of Indian engineering on the global stage. It is built at a cost of over Rs 550 crore. It is 2.08 km in length, features 99 spans and a 72.5-metre vertical lift span that rises up to a height of 17 metres, facilitating smooth movement of larger ships while ensuring seamless train operations, it said. Constructed with stainless steel reinforcement, high-grade protective paint, and fully welded joints, the bridge boasts increased durability and reduced maintenance needs. It is designed for dual rail tracks to accommodate future demands. A special polysiloxane coating protects it from corrosion, ensuring longevity in the harsh marine environment.
