Two ex-WWE stars hit back in furious tweets after being released by company following 'lazy' accusations

Yahoo05-05-2025
A pair of released WWE stars have hit back at claims regarding the reasons for why they were let go from the company.
Just weeks after the highest-grossing WrestleMania of all-time in Las Vegas, WWE released a total of 18 wrestlers from the main roster, NXT and developmental.
Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, Shayna Baszler, Kayden Carter, Katana Chance, Cora Jade, Gigi Dolin, Eddy Thorpe, Riley Osborne, Jakara Jackson, Wolfgang, Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey (Gallus), Ora Mensah, Javier Bernal, Dani Palmer, Shotzi and Luca Crusifino were all deemed surplus to requirements over the weekend.
The brutal cuts have become a common practice for WWE in recent times and the talents will have to serve 90 or 30 day no-compete clauses depending on whether they are on the main roster or NXT.
Many of the talents have issued statements on their departures but two female performers were forced to set the record straight after Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer explained why NXT superstars were given the boot.
Meltzer claimed those who were cut were "perceived as not working hard in training" and effectively viewed as "lazy".
However, Gigi Dolin, who is now going by her independent name Priscilla Kelly, took issue with that explanation and promptly responded on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"When I wasn't traveling to work for either of the two companies I was working for, I trained very hard 3-4 days a week, bumping my ass off and doing cardio drills with one of the best/toughest coaches I've worked with," the former NXT women's tag team champion wrote.
"And worked out every single day. With live events every other weekend. So yeah I don't wanna hear this lol. The way my body feels says otherwise."
Cora Jade's tenure in WWE ended after four years and she added to Dolin's statement with her take, while also claiming she was body shamed by people she worked with.
Jade, now having reverted to the name Elayna Black, said: "This, plus can't forget having to go to my own gym outside of work after 'strength and conditioning' that wasn't doing anything for me other than get me body shamed by my bosses, coworkers, and fans :) crazy!"
According to Ibou, an insider and podcaster for WrestlingPurists, every release was signed off by Chief content officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, contrary to what others have claimed.
"The priority is that their books, and profit margins look good to shareholders after every quarter, which is why to juice up numbers, they shed contracts. Figuring out the WHEN on these matters is Ari and Nick [Khan]. Figuring out WHO goes is Paul Levesque. I don't know who needs to hear this, but you'd have to be impressively naive to believe otherwise."
He stressed that the mass releases were always going to be on the cards after recent hires for WWE's ID program, coupled with the fact that the base salary on the main roster has increased to $350,000 per year.
In addition to talent, WWE have also got rid of employees in a number of departments, including creative and digital.

Seth Rollins Details The Lengths He Went To Sell His Injury Leading Into SummerSlam

Seth Rollins was in full sell mode regarding the fake injury he suffered last month at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. Rollins returned Saturday night at SummerSlam and cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on CM Punk to become World Heavyweight Champion once again. WWE Superstar Seth Rollins was a recent guest on The Rich Eisen Show. During his appearance, Rollins detailed the lengths that he went to sell the injury heading into SummerSlam. 'My wife is an unwilling participant in this ruse,' Seth Rollins said. 'She was very upset at me for making me lie to all of her friends and family for the better part of three weeks. She was very upset. I said, 'Honey, just trust me, the payoff will be great.' My daughter thought it was a game. She thought it was a fun little game. 'I told her, 'Daddy has a pretend boo-boo for the next few weeks. Let's keep that on the low.' First thing she did was go and tell her preschool teacher, Ms. Joy, immediately. Then, she had to tell me she told Ms. Joy and gave me the classic, 'Na-na-boo-boo, I told Ms. Joy.' I'm like, 'How am I supposed to live my life? How am I supposed to get this through. Focus. Kayfabe, young Roux, kayfabe.' Here we are, three weeks later, nobody went to the dirt sheets or the news. Thank you, Roux, thank you, Ms. Joy. It was an honor and a pleasure. Three weeks of being on crutches 'The payoff was more beautiful than I could have expected. 'Limping around on those crutches for three weeks was excruciating. That was painful. I went to the gym, I took my daughter to the beach for ice cream, I dropped her off at the preschool, I went for a nice steak dinner with my wife, Bianca Belair, and Montez Ford with the crutches. I did it all on crutches. 'It was excruciating. The crutches alone were painful. I thought I was going to get a shoulder injury, a real one, get surgery and go to Birmingham legit. I was getting irritable, my wife was putting up with me being grumpy. It was a tough one, but we pulled through and did it. For the greater good.' [H/T: Fightful] Seth Rollins will appear on RAW later tonight, where he will address his actions to the WWE Universe. Bully Ray Knows How WWE Can Really Get Karrion Kross Over

Bully Ray pitches an idea for Karrion Kross if WWE chooses to re-sign him before his contract is up this weekend. On a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray pitched a story the company could utilize to help take Karrion Kross to the next level in terms of fan demand and popularity. 'If Karrion Kross signs a new deal with WWE, and obviously they keep it quiet, how do you turn this whole thing into good television? Have Karrion Kross show up at every Monday Night RAW, you never shoot it,' Bully Ray said. 'You never show it on RAW TV, you never show it in the arena. You don't acknowledge it, you let it live on social media. 'Start a true movement. Let Karrion Kross live on social media to the point where they sign a petition. Karrion Kross shows up in Duluth, Piscataway, Des Moines, Bangor, Bakersfield. It's the Karrion Kross from sea to shining sea parking lot tour, where I am going to get 100,000 signatures from WWE fans saying we want Kross. 'And then I'm going to show up to the office in Stamford, Connecticut, and I'm going to bang on their f*cking door with this petition. You say the fans mean something to you? You want to give the fans what they want? Well, here. Here's 100,000 signatures from the WWE Universe saying we want Karrion Kross. That's making a guy.' This pitch likely won't happen because the WWE contracts of Kross and Scarlett are set to expire this weekend. You can read more about their status by clicking the link below. Bully Ray: Is WWE Blurring The Lines With Karrion Kross's Status?

Karrion Kross could be on his way out of WWE alongside his wife Scarlett. As the old saying goes, though, it ain't over until it's over. Following his loss to Sami Zayn at WWE SummerSlam, reports indicated that Kross and Scarlett's WWE contracts are set to expire this weekend with no word from WWE about potentially signing a new deal beforehand. Despite that, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray is remaining optimistic about this contract situation, especially given Kross' surging popularity. 'Personally, I don't think the WWE is going to let Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux go,' Ray said on Busted Open Radio. 'I think there's too much of an organic groundswell amongst wrestling fans. I think that there would be backlash against the WWE. It would be different backlash than we heard for R-Truth. R-Truth was our lovable guy. He made us laugh. If you were fans, you're like, 'No, no, no, you can't get rid of truth. We have fun with him.' Kross, this guy is like a rebel to wrestling fans. They are clamoring for him. 'You heard what happened at the post-SummerSlam press conference. They were chanting 'we want Kross' and that speaks volumes,' Ray continued. 'The WWE Universe likes Karrion Kross. They want him to stick around. They see something in him; they see something in Scarlett. Obviously, the WWE Universe is attracted to this guy. There's something about Karrion Kross that is resonating with the WWE Universe, but it doesn't seem to be resonating with the higher ups, or maybe it is. Are they blurring their own lines with Karrion Kross?' As Ray alluded to, some lines in WWE have blurred recently, with Seth Rollins' fake injury and subsequent Money in the Bank cash-in as a prime example. In Kross' case, it has yet to be seen if their reported contract expirations are legitimate or potentially part of another complex story in WWE. Bully Ray also shared his idea for how WWE could get Kross over in a huge way. Kross, a former NXT Champion, returned to WWE in August 2022 alongside Scarlett.
