The announcement was made on the August 4th episode of Monday Night Raw, just two days after he lost his title in the main event of SummerSlam Night One. On the broadcast, commentator Michael Cole provided a storyline explanation for the former champion's upcoming absence. The on-screen injury is being used to write "The Ring General" off of television. Cole just announced Gunther will be out indefinitely because of an orbital — Julian Weeks (@JulianWks) August 5, 2025 A Brutal Diagnosis For GUNTHER Michael Cole stated to the television audience that during his match with CM Punk at SummerSlam, GUNTHER suffered a septal hematoma and an orbital blowout fracture. These severe-sounding facial injuries are the official storyline reason why he will be away from WWE programming. The on-air announcement provides a kayfabe explanation for the bloody nose GUNTHER was shown with at the conclusion of the SummerSlam main event. WWE Blending Fact And Fiction This storyline injury appears to be a masterful way to write GUNTHER off television so he can undergo a legitimate medical procedure. It was previously reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that the bloody finish at SummerSlam was a planned angle. The purpose was to provide cover for GUNTHER to have legitimate nose surgery in the near future. By creating a severe storyline injury, WWE is able to protect the aura of the nearly unbeatable "Ring General," even in defeat. The narrative suggests he lost his title while battling through serious fractures, making him look incredibly tough. WWE Star Suffers Devastating Injury At SummerSlam, Out of Action Indefinitely

In a major development, former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther has been ruled out of action indefinitely following a severe injury sustained at the recent WWE SummerSlam. The announcement came during the latest episode of Monday Night RAW. The Catastrophic Injury at SummerSlam The Austrian powerhouse's nightmare unfolded during his championship defense against CM Punk at SummerSlam's opening night. Gunther suffered a severe facial injury after a brutal table spot that left him bloodied and battered. The visual of 'The Ring General" emerging from beneath the announcement table with crimson streaming down his face raised concerns. WWE commentator Michael Cole delivered the sobering update to the RAW audience, revealing the full extent of Gunther's injuries. Cole announced that the former champion had suffered 'a septal hematoma and orbital blowout fracture" during his clash with CM Punk, injuries severe enough to sideline him for an indefinite period. A Chaotic Championship Night The night pushed Gunther to the sidelines also marked the end of his impressive 53-day World Heavyweight Championship reign. After absorbing punishment throughout the grueling encounter, he ultimately succumbed to CM Punk's relentless assault, losing his coveted title in heartbreaking fashion. However, the chaos didn't end there, as Seth Rollins immediately capitalised on the situation, cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase to steal the championship from a vulnerable Punk. The Reality Behind the Storyline While the on-screen narrative presents a clear cause for Gunther's absence, wrestling insiders have revealed a more complex situation. According to reports from Wrestling Observer , the bloody conclusion to the Gunther-Punk match was strategically planned to provide storyline justification for the Austrian's time away. Gunther was already scheduled to undergo legitimate nose surgery. The wrestling veteran had been dealing with a pre-existing nose issue that required surgical intervention, making the SummerSlam angle a convenient cover for his necessary medical procedure. End of a Dominant Era Gunther's forced absence concludes one of the most impressive championship runs in recent WWE history. Before capturing the World Heavyweight Title, he held the Intercontinental Championship for a record-shattering 666 days, establishing himself as one of WWE's most physically dominant and technically proficient performers. His hard-hitting European style and methodical approach had made him a cornerstone of Monday Night RAW programming. The timing of his injury creates significant ripple effects throughout WWE's creative landscape, as storylines will need to be restructured around his absence. Currently, no official timetable has been provided for Gunther's return to action, leaving the wrestling world anxiously awaiting updates on his recovery progress. As WWE moves forward without one of its most reliable main event players, fans can only hope that Gunther will make a full recovery and return to reclaim his position at the top of the company's hierarchy. Report: WWE Grooming Three Talents To Be Their Future Headliners

WWE already knows who they want their headliners to be at some point in the future. The passing of the torch is something that's been a focal point of professional wrestling for the last several decades. As popular as WWE is right now, they understand people like Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and Becky Lynch can't be on top forever. Eventually, these names will move on from the company and will be seen on a much more limited basis. If you want to get technical, it feels like Reigns is already in that transition period. Luckily, WWE is planning for the future and is already in the process of grooming who they want to be their future headliners of the company. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company is currently grooming Bron Breakker, Jacob Fatu, and Rhea Ripley to interact with the company's current headliners with the idea that they will eventually be in those positions themselves. Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available. READ MORE: TKO Makes Major Change To WWE Severance Packages, Hurts Company Morale What do you make of this report? Zoey Stark injury update: WWE star could be out for rest of 2025

WWE Superstar Zoey Stark has reportedly suffered a serious knee injury during this week's Monday Night RAW and may be sidelined for the rest of 2025. The 31-year-old was part of a high-stakes Triple Threat match to qualify for the Women's Money in the Bank ladder match when the unfortunate incident occurred. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The match featured Stark, Rhea Ripley, and a returning Kairi Sane. Midway through the bout, Stark attempted a missile dropkick on Sane but landed awkwardly, jamming her surgically repaired knee. The visible distress on her face prompted officials to immediately intervene and escort her backstage for medical attention. Surgery likely as injury raises concerns Initial reports indicate that Stark may require knee surgery once again, echoing her 2021 injury which also kept her out for months. Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp has reported that WWE is preparing to be without Stark for the remainder of the calendar year. This sentiment has been echoed by Dr. Chris Featherstone and other backstage insiders. Following the incident, Stark took to social media to thank fans for their support. 'What hurts more than my knee is knowing I won't be able to perform for all of you for a while,' she wrote on X. 'As the saying goes, the comeback is greater than the setback.' WWE veteran Dutch Mantell weighed in on the incident during his podcast, suggesting that Kairi Sane may have been responsible for the mistimed spot. 'There's no way to adjust once you're in the air… the adjustment has to come from the one taking the move,' he said, pointing fingers at Sane. While not officially confirmed, reports also suggest that Stark was originally scheduled to take the fall in the match. Her removal prompted a shift in plans, with Rhea Ripley pinning Kairi Sane to win the bout. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez revealed that the second half of the match had to be called on the fly, which saw Sane unexpectedly taking the pinfall despite her recent return. Zoey Stark made her WWE debut in 2021, quickly rising through the ranks in NXT and later the main roster. Her pairing with Io Shirai (now Iyo Sky) led to a successful run as NXT Women's Tag Team Champions before her initial knee injury. This latest setback comes at a crucial time in her career and could impact WWE's ongoing plans in the women's division. While no official statement has been made regarding the severity of her injury, fans and superstars alike are rallying behind Stark, wishing her a speedy recovery.

Gigi Dolin and Cora Jade React To Report They Were Released By WWE For Being Lazy

It's fair to say that Gigi Dolin and Cora Jade do not agree with what some are saying about their WWE releases. Gigi Dolin and Cora Jade were two of the multiple WWE Superstars to be released by WWE on May 1. In a follow-up report, Dave Meltzer shared feedback provided to him by a source inside WWE. This source claimed many of the cuts were due to talent who were viewed as 'not working hard in training.' Advertisement 'Many of those cuts were perceived as not working hard in training. And if you don't work hard in training, there's so many people who do. And at this point, if the feeling is you're not working hard in training – I saw the term 'lazy' – the ones who are lazy are gonna be gone, and the ones who didn't stand out are gonna be gone,' Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio. Gigi Dolin doesn't want to ever hear someone say she didn't work hard enough Gigi Dolin took issue with this view, reacting to an aggregated quote of Meltzer's with the following response: 'When I wasn't traveling to work for either of the two companies I was working for, I trained very hard 3-4 days a week. Bumping my ass off and doing cardio drills with one of the best/toughest coaches I've worked with,' she wrote. 'And worked out every single day. With live events every other weekend. So yeah I don't wanna hear this lol. The way my body feels says otherwise.' Advertisement Cora Jade also replied to Dolin's post, claiming she was still body-shamed despite all of the hard work they had put in. 'This, plus can't forget having to go to my own gym outside of work after 'strength and conditioning' that wasn't doing anything for me other than get me body shamed by my bosses, coworkers, and fans crazy!' Cora wrote. Gigi Dolin will once again use her 'Priscilla Kelly' name when her WWE non-compete clause ends. Cora Jade will be using her 'Elayna Black' name she used before WWE.
