The producers stated that six cuts - as suggested by the Centre - had been made in the film, and a modified disclaimer had been included.
Noting the submission that the film's re-certification was pending, and one of the petitioners had requested an adjournment, a bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela agreed to hear the matter on July 30.
The petitions had been sent back to HC by Supreme Court (SC) hearing the plea of Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani and Mohd Javed, an accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case.
SC asked the petitioners to move HC against the Centre's revisional order permitting the film's release.
HC had earlier stayed the film's release, prompting its producers to approach SC. Last week, SC had pointed out that the filmmakers' appeal against the HC order staying the film's release no longer survived as they had accepted the July 21 Centre nod for the film's release, subject to six cuts in its scenes and modifications in the disclaimer.
On Monday, when HC asked the Centre's counsel if the movie had been re-certified, it was informed that the film had been approved with six cuts and one disclaimer, and the certification was pending. Javed's counsel sought an assurance that the movie wouldn't be released till the next date of hearing. HC said until re-certification, the producers cannot release the film anyway.
Udaipur-based tailor Kanhaiya Lal was murdered in June 2022.

The land registered by other community members must be rendered invalid, the joint front emphasised in a petition submitted to Tiruppur Collector Manish S Narnaware at the Collectorate on Monday at the end of a rally by its members from the Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi Bus Stand. The registration of the Panchami land in the name of non-SCs must be scrapped as per the earlier government orders and the rulings of the Madras High Court, A. Tamilvendan State Coordinator, Panchami Nila Meetpu Kootiyakkam, VCK, said. As per the High Court ruling on August 12, 2015, the patta, chitta, adangal and ayan patta registrations of Panchami land in the names of non-SCs will have to be made invalid, Mr. Tamilvendan pointed out. The joint front has submitted the details of the survey numbers of Panchami land under 'illegal occupation' at Pudhupalayam in Avinashi Taluk, 15 Velampalayam village in Tiruppur North Taluk, Tiruppur Town and Nallur village in Tiruppur South Taluk. The petition called for prosecution of Revenue Department officials who were responsible for registration of Panchami lands in the names of non-SCs under Tamil Nadu Government Servant Conduct Rules, 1973, Section 21.3 (11). After submission of the petition, the joint front sat for a meeting to chart out the next course of action. 'After decades of struggle, all like-minded entities have decided to put up a joint fight specifically for retrieval of the land that rightfully belongs to us in pursuit of a tangible outcome, Karthik, Tiruppur district unit secretary of Tamil Puligal, said, adding: 'We are collating information on the Panchami land in Dharapuram, Udumalpet, and Madathukulam. The total extent of Panchami land under illegal occupation and the prospective SC beneficiaries will be determined.'

Congress, VCK question Stalin's stand that special law to deal with ‘honour' killing is not required
The ruling DMK's allies including the Congress, VCK and CPI-M along with activists working for the uplift of the Scheduled Castes/Tribes have renewed their call for enacting an exclusive legislation to deal with caste-hatred induced murders that are passed off as 'honour' crimes. Against the backdrop of the murder of Kavin Selvaganesh, a young engineer from Tirunelveli working in a leading IT firm, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste, they have questioned Chief Minister M K Stalin's stand in the Assembly contending such a special law was not required. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president, K. Selvaperunthagai, on Tuesday said he does not share the Chief Minister's opinion. 'A separate law against 'honour-related crimes' has to be enacted. The Chief Minister had said in the Assembly that he would use an iron hand to end such murders and there is no need for a separate we don't agree with that opinion. A separate law is in place in few other states. It needs to be passed [in Tamil Nadu]. The laws already in place have not been enough to curtail [such] violence,' he told The Hindu. Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, who had positioned himself as the DMK's 'ideological ally' in 'the fight against Sanathana Dharma', in a statement said he was worried to learn of the caste-violence and murders continuing 'unabated' in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts. He underscored his repeated demands to create an intelligence unit within the police force to tackle caste-related crimes have not been heeded to by the State government. 'The Law Commission of India has already create a draft law which has not been passed for several years now,' he said. His party general secretary D. Ravikumar, said the Supreme Court itself in the Shakti Vahini Vs Union Of India case (2018) had batted for such a legislation. 'While directing the Union Government to enact the law, the SC had said what the State Governments should do in the interim. Guidelines were framed and sent to all the Chief Secretaries of the States. SC has given the Law Commission's draft law to the Union Government. Since 2018, we have urged the Union Government to enact a law. State governments have not implemented the SC order. Why?,' he asked. CPI(M) state secretary P Shanmugam on Tuesday demanded the arrest of the Sub-Inspector parents of the alleged murderer Surjith. 'The continuing spate of violence reiterates the need for a separate law and undercuts the State Government's argument that existing criminal laws are enough to tackle such crimes,' he said. A. Kathir of Evidence, a civil rights organisation, said, 'If existing criminal laws were enough, then why do we need a SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act? Why do we need a separate law against harassment of women? A special law brings attention to crimes against the marginalised. We need a broad law to deal with 'honour' related crimes. If, for instance, a backward caste family murders the young woman in their family instead of the Scheduled Caste youth who she falls in love with, will SC/ST Act apply? What if she is killed for falling in love with another BC man,' he asked.

Security guard caught stealing IPL jerseys worth INR 6.52 lakh from BCCI office on CCTV; arrested
A security manager in his 40s at Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium was arrested for allegedly stealing 261 IPL 2025 jerseys worth ₹6.52 lakh from the BCCI office premises, in a bizarre case that only came to light after an internal board audit flagged missing inventory. Representational image of sports jerseys The accused, identified as Farooque Aslam Khan, reportedly spirited away an entire carton of jerseys from a storeroom located within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office at Wankhede, Churchgate. According to police, each jersey was worth around ₹2,500, and the total value of the stolen merchandise amounts to over six and a half lakh rupees. An audit conducted by BCCI officials earlier this month revealed discrepancies in jersey stock. Upon checking CCTV footage, staffers spotted Khan carrying a large cardboard box out of the storeroom on June 13 — raising immediate suspicion. A complaint was subsequently filed at the Marine Drive police station on July 17. Police investigations revealed that Khan had sold the stolen jerseys to an online dealer based in Haryana, whom he had contacted via social media. The guard reportedly told the dealer that the jerseys were being offloaded as part of a "stock clearance sale" due to renovation work at the BCCI office. 'The dealer claims he had no idea the jerseys were stolen,' said a police official involved in the investigation. So far, only 50 of the 261 jerseys have been recovered. During questioning, Khan confessed to using the money earned from the sale to fund his growing addiction to online gambling. 'He received the payment directly into his bank account and claims to have lost it all on gambling platforms,' the officer added, noting that bank records are being reviewed to corroborate this claim. It is unclear whether the stolen jerseys, which represented multiple teams, were intended for official use by IPL players or for public merchandise distribution. The police have summoned the Haryana-based dealer for further inquiry, and the investigation remains ongoing. Khan, who was arrested a few days ago after being booked under relevant sections for theft and criminal breach of trust, is currently out on bail. Meanwhile, BCCI has not issued an official comment but is said to be reviewing its internal security protocols following the incident.
