PM Anwar unveils five pillars for Malaysia's AI Nation Framework
The framework aims to ensure AI benefits all Malaysians through forward-looking policies and strategic investments.
Anwar highlighted the importance of an agile workforce and secure digital infrastructure as core components of the plan.
He emphasised the need for digital trust and public-private partnerships to foster a thriving AI ecosystem.
The prime minister stated that these pillars will support the MADANI Economy by making AI inclusive and purpose-driven.
'This is more than a roadmap; it is a movement,' Anwar said during his keynote at the ASEAN AI Malaysia Summit 2025 launch.
He confirmed that the Ministry of Digital, supported by the National AI Office, will spearhead the initiative.
Anwar reiterated Malaysia's ambition to become an AI nation under the 13th Malaysia Plan for sustainable growth.
'AI will not be a tool for the few; it will be a force for all,' he added, stressing nationwide accessibility.
The prime minister also highlighted ASEAN's potential to shape ethical and inclusive AI development.
He called for bold regional action to bridge development gaps and empower communities through AI.
'Our vision is to lead in some areas while upholding equity and justice,' Anwar explained.
Malaysia has taken significant steps in digitalisation, including establishing a dedicated Digital Ministry.

Halaqah Mubaligh ASEAN 2.0 A Platform To Share Views And Strengthen Regional Da'wah - Mohd Na'im
NILAI, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar is confident that the Halaqah Mubaligh ASEAN 2.0 programme will serve as an effective platform for sharing views to expand Islamic preaching at the regional and international levels. Mohd Na'im also expressed confidence that the programme, which began today and runs until Thursday, could be used as a platform to formulate more effective preaching strategies in facing contemporary challenges. 'I hope it will strengthen ties among ASEAN preachers, discuss preacher capacity-building systems, and expand the reach of preaching in this region,' he said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the programme here tonight, which was also attended by Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee.

Basic Metals, Non-metallic Minerals And Wood Products Drive Foreign Investments In Sabah
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- The three main industries in Sabah that recorded the highest foreign investments over the past decade (2015 to 2024) in the manufacturing sector were basic metal products, non-metallic mineral products, and wood products, according to the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). For the state's services sector, the hotel and tourism sub-sectors, along with support services, were the main contributors. 'In terms of value, basic metal products recorded RM4.3 billion, followed by non-metallic mineral products at RM2.5 billion, and wood products at RM99.1 million. The hotel and tourism sector recorded RM205 million, and support services amounted to RM37.9 million,' the ministry said in a written reply published on the Dewan Rakyat portal today. The ministry was responding to a question from Datuk Jonathan Yasin (GRS-Ranau), who asked about the total foreign investment made in Sabah over the past 10 years and at present.
