It has just gone 6.30am at Hurrah's Casino on the legendary Las Vegas Strip and 60-year-old Bettie has completed a marathon four-hour session on the slot machines.
'One hundred and sixty dollars down,' she tells me, puffing on a cigarette and heading gingerly out into the 40-degree morning heat. On Las Vegas Boulevard, Bettie points towards the Mirage Hotel opposite, the strip's first and most iconic mega-resort, which closed earlier this week after 35 years in operation.

Take-Two lifts annual bookings forecast on 'Mafia', 'Borderlands' launches

Aug 7 (Reuters) - Take-Two Interactive (TTWO.O), opens new tab raised its annual bookings forecast on Thursday, betting on strong demand for its new "Mafia" and "Borderlands" titles, sending its shares up 5% in extended trading. The firm stuck to the May 26 launch date for its highly awaited "Grand Theft Auto VI," which is expected to generate billions of dollars within weeks of its release. Take-Two is banking on "Mafia: The Old Country", "Borderlands 4" and its core sports titles to drive growth in the absence of "Grand Theft Auto VI" against the backdrop of industry-wide struggles with challenging economic conditions. The company's executives said on a post-earnings conference that the U.S.'s tariff policy has created some risk and will lead consumers to become more careful and selective with spending. Tariffs have also led to a hike in console and hardware prices as manufacturers grapple with higher raw material costs. The company projected bookings of between $6.05 billion and $6.15 billion for its fiscal year 2026, compared with its prior forecast of between $5.9 billion and $6 billion. The delay of "Grand Theft Auto VI" to the next fiscal year has put more pressure on Take-Two's annual sports launches and AAA games. Competition within the industry is also intense, with the launch of premium titles such as Sony's "Ghost of Yotei" and Electronic Arts (EA.O), opens new tab "Battlefield 6" later this year set to ratchet up the battle for gamer dollars. The period from September to December is a lucrative period for the gaming industry as seasonal sales and new product launches typically drive strong sales for publishers. Take-Two reported first-quarter bookings of $1.42 billion, beating estimates of $1.31 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG. This was due to the strong performance of its mobile portfolio, executives said.

Jason Kelce opens up on music career... and the chances of a collaboration with Taylor Swift

Jason Kelce opens up on music career... and the chances of a collaboration with Taylor Swift Jason Kelce is no stranger to the music business. Considering the pop star that his brother is dating, questions about a potential collaboration with Taylor Swift were addressed in a recent interview. The former Philadelphia Eagles center has previously been involved in two Christmas albums with some of his teammates - branding the group 'The Philly Specials'. Kelce, the 37-year-old father of four and co-host of the popular 'New Heights' podcast, revealed that he also took a keen interest in music when he was in high school. He spoke about the Christmas albums and his younger days as a musician on the 'Exciting Mics' podcast with current Eagles defensive stars Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship. 'We've done three Christmas albums - Me, Jordan [Mailata], and Lane [Johnson] - as well as a bunch of other Philly artists: the drummer for The War on Drugs, Charlie Hall, very connected in the Philly music scene and just music scene in general,' Kelce said. 'We've had a bunch of people who are actual musicians help us make that. And then Mailata... he can carry a tune.' Jason Kelce opened up about his musical career and the albums he made for Christmas Kelce also revealed to the 'Exciting Mics' podcast - hosted by Cooper DeJean (L) and Reed Blankenship (R) - that he played saxophone in his high school's jazz band DeJean asked if Jason would join Taylor Swift on stage if asked, which Jason shot down Kelce also opened up about being in a school band in his teenage years: 'I played saxophone in high school, that was a great time. I was in the jazz band. 'We would tour every spring - other cities to compete against other jazz bands. [We] went to Chicago, New York, Boston, and then - for some reason - Carolina.' 'I played bari[tone] sax, to be specific. And I now have a bari sax, but I also have four kids and a lot of other things happening so don't play it. I want to though, I want to get back into it.' After that revelation, DeJean asked Kelce if he'd ever play on-stage with pop icon Taylor Swift if she ever asked him to. 'Oh my gosh, I was about to say would I do it? I don't even know if I would do it, I'd be so nervous. I got nervous playing in front of my parents,' Kelce joked. Jason then praised the 'Cruel Summer' songstress, who has been dating his brother - Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce - for nearly two years. 'Listen, the music is... I don't think it was made for my demographic in mind, right? But when you go, you'll realize you know all these songs. Like even though you might not know you do, you've heard them,' Jason told the pair after they both said they'd never been to a Swift concert. 'The first show I went to over in London, my brother was telling me "Dude, this thing... you're gonna have so much fun". And I'm going there and I'm like "Dude, this is a blast". Like everybody is so into it and you realize you know all of them. 'Maybe not to the point where you know every single word, but you've heard so many of her songs - there's no way living in America that you haven't. It's outrageous, and the fans are so rabid about it.'
