"Ensure Not Even A Pebble Pricks Feet Of Devotees": Rekha Gupta On Kanwar Yatra

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday said that the Delhi government will set up a single-window system to grant permissions and handle grievances related to Kanwar camps during the holy month of Sawan.
CM Gupta said that the government will extend full support to these committees serving Shiva devotees in ensuring the provision of electricity, water, medicines, sanitation, and other necessary amenities.
"It is our responsibility to ensure that not even a pebble pricks the feet of Shiva devotees. Kanwar Yatra is a festival of faith, devotion, and discipline, and the government will take every possible step to make it smooth and efficient," the CM said.
She said that the government will oversee the arrangements through its Ministers, District Development Committee (DDC) Chairpersons, and District Magistrates.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister met office-bearers of various Kanwar camp committees from across Delhi to solve their problems and discuss the facilities required.
Delhi Government Cabinet Ministers Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Kapil Mishra, senior government officials and representatives from the Fire Services, Electricity Department, and other departments were present in the meeting.
Responding to the concerns raised by the Kanwar camp representatives, CM Gupta assured them that this time, they would not face the kind of administrative hurdles experienced under the previous government.
She said, "Despite crores of rupees being spent earlier, Shiv devotees faced numerous difficulties. This time, we will not let that happen."
The Chief Minister declared that her government would take full responsibility for managing Kanwar camps and would resolve all problems faced by organising committees.
She said the Single-Window System would ensure smooth camp setup and uninterrupted service delivery.
DDC Chairpersons and DMs will assist the committees in resolving issues, while Ministers will oversee the entire process and ensure that any difficulties are addressed with priority.
She assured that there will be no compromise in providing facilities like medical aid, medicines, electricity connections, water, sanitation, toilets, fire safety, security, and smooth traffic management at the camps.
The Kanwar Yatra is one of North India's most significant religious traditions, where millions of devotees collect holy Ganga water from Haridwar, Gangotri, and other sacred places to offer at Shiva temples.
Every year, thousands of Kanwar devotees pass through Delhi en route to other states. To welcome and accommodate them, Kanwar camps are set up across various parts of the city.

New Delhi [India], June 17 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta convened a high-level review meeting on Tuesday to discuss the preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra 2025, focusing on planning, arrangements, and facilities for the devotees during the yatra. In a post on X, the Delhi Chief Minister's Office (CMO) stated that the meeting was held with the focus to ensure a seamless and respectful experience for the lakhs of Shiv bhakts expected to participate. Gupta directed that every devotee should receive respect, facilities, and security, emphasising that the event is not only a festival of faith but also an opportunity for service and dedication. 'Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta held a high-level review meeting today at the Delhi Secretariat regarding the preparations for Kanwar Yatra 2025. In the meeting, the planning, arrangements and facilities to be provided to the devotees of Kanwar camps to be set up in Delhi this year were discussed in detail,' the CMO stated. 'The Chief Minister directed that it should be ensured that every Shiv devotee gets respect, facilities and security. She said that Kanwar Yatra is not only a festival of faith but also an opportunity for service and dedication. The Delhi government will ensure its organisation with devotion, arrangements and sensitivity,' it added. The meeting was attended by Cabinet Ministers Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, and senior officials from relevant departments at the Delhi Secretariat. Following the meeting, the Delhi CM detailed the setup of Kanwar camps across Delhi, with a focus on improving the infrastructure and services compared to previous years under the AAP government. She noted that the camps are scheduled to operate from July until Sawan Shivratri. 'The government will pay special attention to the lakhs of Shiv bhakts who come to Delhi with Kanwar. They will be provided with facilities. The government will work towards eliminating the irregularities in the aid and arrangements that used to happen during the time of the previous governments. Kanwar camps will start from July and will continue till Shivratri,' she stated. Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra, who was present at the meeting, elaborated on the government's commitment, saying, 'Lakhs of people take part in the Kanwar Yatra in Delhi, and the Chief Minister has decided that special preparations will be made to serve the Kanwariyas, and a grand Kanwar Yatra will be taken out in Delhi. This meeting was called for those special arrangements. The Chief Minister and the Cabinet Ministers are sitting with all the organisers of the Kanwar Seva Samiti, and a grand and beautiful Kanwar Yatra will be taken out in Delhi. We are all ready to serve every Kanwariya.' In the Kanwar Yatra procession, Kamwariyas collect water from a river and carry it hundreds of kilometres to offer it to the shrines of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu beliefs, Parshuram, a devotee of Shiva and Lord Vishnu's avatar, participated in the initial procession. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta inaugurates Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Tis Hazari Court complex
New Delhi [India], June 17 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Tis Hazari Court Complex. The CM stated that the inauguration was a big milestone and a turning point for the city. 'This is a very big milestone for Delhi, from where a new turning point starts in the journey of the people of is itself a big gift that Delhi has received through the work of the central government, which the previous government did not provide,' the CM said, speaking to the media. Lashing out at AAP, she stated that the work had been pending since the last four years yet no efforts were made to work on it. 'The previous government should have started this work four years ago but they never even entertained the thought of it.... I consider this as a big crime against the people of Delhi. We got only eight months to do this work... This is very different from the Mohalla clinics that the previous government opened, which was nothing but a temporary structure. We want to provide the people of Delhi with the best of health facilities. The entire team is working on a mission that not a single penny made in the interest of Delhi is wasted,' Gupta further stated. Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also inaugurated an Ayushman Arogya Mandir at the Budh Bazar Road, B Block in Chaukhandi. After the inauguration, Manjinder Singh Sirsa informed that 33 Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs were inaugurated on Tuesday with excellent infrastructure and facilities. 'A total of 33 Arogya Mandirs have been inaugurated today, and they have excellent infrastructure', Manjinder Singh Sirsa said. Last month on May 18, in a major health initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Vay Vandana Yojana, Delhi Minister Ashish Sood distributed Ayushman Bharat cards to senior citizens aged 70 and above in Janakpuri, West Delhi. Speaking to ANI at the event, Ashish Sood said, 'Chief Minister Rekha Gupta started the distribution of Ayushman Bharat cards... We are ensuring that the beneficiaries get Ayushman Bharat cards so that they can avail its benefits...' He added, 'The Chief Minister started the distribution of Ayushman card in Delhi under the guidance of the Prime Minister. So far, we have prepared cards for thousands of people... we are providing the benefits of card facility along with the list of hospitals, so that they can benefit from it by visiting those hospitals.' He urged the public to spread awareness about the card's benefits, especially for the elderly. 'Make them aware that they should go to their elders and their children in any other state where they can benefit from these hospitals as well,' he said. (ANI)
