After writing, directing, and producing Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,
Randeep Hooda
has found a new creative passion — writing. While acting remains his first love, he now considers writing the most fulfilling part of his artistic journey.
'Over the years, I have discovered a deep love for writing. It has become the best part of any creative process for me. When I act, I step into stories crafted by others, but writing allows me to shape stories that I have lived, seen or imagined,' Randeep shared.
The actor is currently developing narratives inspired by the people of Versova and Aaram Nagar in Mumbai's Andheri — neighbourhoods teeming with the untold struggles and dreams of those chasing fame.
'Versova and Aaram Nagar have been such silent theatres of human ambition and survival, and I wanted to bring these stories to life,' he said.
His stories spotlight a range of characters — like a bansuri player who appears every Sunday, the harsh realities faced by struggling actors and the underbelly of casting culture. 'There's this bansuri wala I see every Sunday, standing at the same corner, playing melodies that often get drowned in the city's noise. Behind him, there's a world of aspiring actors, daily struggles, small triumphs and heartbreaks. Writing these stories gives me a sense of purpose and a way to reflect on the layers of life around us,' he added.

Acting always feels like my first job: Randeep Hooda

Actor and filmmaker Randeep Hooda has opened up about the emotional and psychological challenges that come with his craft. Despite his years in the industry, the actor admits that acting never gets easier and that each role brings with it a renewed sense of fear and uncertainty. Speaking about his mindset before taking on a new role, Randeep said, 'If you're not uncertain and you're not feeling like, 'Oh my God, this time they're going to discover that I don't know anything about acting,' then you're not doing it right. That is what keeps me on my toes. It always feels like I'm doing my first job.' When asked what he finds more powerful — an actor's spoken lines or the silences in between — Randeep reflected, 'Whatever you say are just your thoughts. And most of us try to hide our thoughts or don't completely say what we mean. Speaking is the last form of any communication between two human beings.' On the film front, Randeep is set to headline the upcoming war drama Operation Khukri, based on the book Operation Khukri: The Untold Story of the Indian Army's Bravest Peacekeeping Mission Abroad by Major General Rajpal Punia and Damini Punia. The film will depict the real-life rescue of 233 Indian soldiers held hostage in Sierra Leone in 2000. Randeep also has a key role in Matchbox, an American action-adventure comedy directed by Sam Hargrave and inspired by the popular toy brand. The film, set for a fall 2026 release, stars John Cena, Jessica Biel, Danai Gurira, and others. With both national and international projects in the pipeline, Randeep Hooda continues to push boundaries — with the same nervous excitement that marked the beginning of his journey.

When This Luxury Brand Didn't Entertain Randeep Hooda Because Of His Looks

Last Updated: Randeep Hooda recalls being ignored at an Armani store in Venice while shopping for his first red carpet at the Monsoon Wedding premiere. Actor Randeep Hooda took a 'sad nostalgic trip' down memory lane as he recalled an incident from his debut international film appearance during the 2001 Venice Film Festival. Speaking to Hindustan Times during an event in Delhi, the actor opened up about being snubbed at an Armani store in Venice, due to his modest financial situation at the time. Ignored at Armani: Randeep's Early Red Carpet Struggle When Hooda reflected on his early career, he talked about how he travelled to Venice for his breakout performance in Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding. Even though the movie was a global hit and took home the Golden Lion at the renowned festival, Randeep was put in a difficult situation when it came to getting dressed up for the premiere. 'Well, I remember when I went to Venice for the screening of the film Monsoon Wedding at the Venice Film Festival. I didn't have any money, and a friend of mine gave me some money to go and suit for the screening," he said. He continued, 'So, I went to buy a suit at an Armani store in Venice. The people at the Armani shop in Venice didn't entertain me at all. When I looked at the labels, I figured out why. So I had nothing to wear." Fluorescent Pants, A Shawl and A Red Carpet Moment With no formalwear to sport, Randeep improvised with whatever he had. He ended up attending the premiere in bright green corduroy pants, a black shirt, and a red shawl loaned by a designer from the film. 'So I had these fluorescent corduroy jeans, green ones, and a black shirt… The designer from the movie gave me a red shawl. So the premiere of my first movie, watching it on such a big screen with crowds of people, signing my first autographs, taking photographs at that screening… And I was wearing fluorescent corduroy jeans with a black shirt and red shawl. I can't imagine what that would have looked like now," he added. Randeep's Take on Fashion Today When asked about his current fashion mantra, Randeep emphasised comfort over experimentation. 'I'm not too much of a fashion victim. I just pick up and wear whatever I lay my hands on," he said. 'Keep the classic and tick the right boxes… I want to be comfortable. So I like fashion that makes you feel like you and comfortable." The actor was recently seen at a fashion event in Gurugram and the film Jaat alongside Sunny Deol.
