Leandro Trossard and Riccardo Califiori were also missing at the Emirates but they could also be back in action for the final friendly of the season before the opening Premier League match at Manchester United on August 17.
The only long-term absentee remains striker Gabriel Jesus who has been sidelined since January.
Asked about Havertz, Arteta said: 'Yesterday in training, he felt something and this morning he wasn't quite right, so we decided to rest him.
"I think it's going to be a matter of a couple of days, hopefully the weekend, if everything goes to plan, I think he will be fit.'

Gabriel Magalhaes returned against Villarreal after missing the pre-season tour with a hamstring injury.
Asked about whether Trossard and Calafiori will be ready for Old Trafford, Arteta said: 'Yes, the three that we lost during the tour, it was big Gabi, Leo and Ricky, and for Saturday I think both of them have a chance if everything in the next few days evolves in the way it has been evolving in the last few days.'
Arteta also had more words of praise for 15-year-old Max Dowman who once again impressed against Villarreal, winning a penalty.
Arteta said: 'He continues to impress, without a doubt. The impact he had in the game again today, the efficiency that he shows in every attack and action, it's incredible.

"Again, he deserves to have chances, and if he continues like this, let's see what happens.'
Arteta also praised Noni Madueke for wanting to cut short his summer holiday to link up with Arsenal after joining from Chelsea.
Viktor Gyokeres is announced at the Emirates for the first time ahead of Villarreal friendly
Madueke missed a penalty in the Wednesday shoot-out but Arteta said: 'He showed a lot of desire to come and join us from day one, and I think what he's done is remarkable.
"I think it shows how much he wants it, how willing he is to put everything that he can to make this work.
' I think the reception he got from all the supporters was brilliant as well. So, great.
"Again, another one through the door to have the first experience with us and on Saturday, go again.'

Mum wins £4M mansion in celebrity neighbourhood but thinks they've won sausages

Famous residents past and present include Cristiano Ronaldo, Sir David and Victoria Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy A couple were over the moon when they found out they'd won a lifetime supply of sausages - only to quickly discover they'd actually bagged themselves a house worth £4 million. Boasting bedrooms with en-suites, a sauna, a large kitchen and a pool - to name a few - the pair are toasting to their new abode. ‌ Emily Ward, 48, is the proud owner of the spectacular four-bedroom home nestled in the prestigious Alderley Edge Conservation Area. Situated in Cheshire's sought-after Golden Triangle - loved by Premier League stars and celebs - her new property was won through the latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw. ‌ ‌ It also features sweeping countryside views, a luxurious indoor leisure suite, and meticulously landscaped gardens. Reflecting on the moment they found out they'd won, Emily admitted they initially thought it was a prize for food. She said: "At first, my husband thought we'd won a lifetime supply of sausages, but then we realised it was actually a £4 million house instead, now that's a real banger." Alderley Edge boasts a peaceful countryside living with Premier League-level prestige, earning its nickname as the "Beverly Hills of the North". Emily's new home comes mortgage-free, with all legal fees paid and an extra £250,000 in cash to help her settle in. When Omaze first arrived at her house to deliver the exciting news, Emily and her husband Richard, 60, were out shopping for tent pegs for their new campervan—prompting neighbours to get in touch with her. ‌ Emily, from Devon, added: "One of the Omaze team had a sandwich on their t-shirt - so the neighbour thought I'd won a lifetime supply of food. They posted in the WhatsApp group and I replied, 'If it's not Omaze or Premium Bonds, I'm not interested.' "A few minutes later, Omaze were on the doorstep.' A delighted Emily said: "My husband thought we might have won a lifetime's supply of sausages - which he was genuinely thrilled about. "Winning this house is more a case of bangers and cash. I said we can cook all the sausages he wants in the new house, so my husband is doubly happy. ‌ "To celebrate, we went to the pub that night and then for a nice dinner with friends the next evening, where we splashed out on a special bottle of champagne! My jaw hurts because I haven't stopped smiling since we found out. "When I told my friends, they were so happy for us but just kept saying 'you're joking' no one could believe it. I still don't think I believe it." ‌ Speaking about her new property, Emily said: "The house is spectacular - I can see why it's so popular with millionaire footballers. It's mad to think that I might bump into Wayne or Coleen Rooney when popping out for a pint of milk. "The house has got everything you could ever possibly want-a swimming pool, sauna, gym, wine store, incredible countryside views-It's definitely in the premier league of houses. We can't wait to jump into the pool and test out the sauna - I wish I'd brought my costume." Emily and Richard haven't yet decided whether to sell or keep the house but think they will "enjoy a big Christmas" in their luxury property. They said: "We're so excited to experience a house like this because it's not the kind of place you get to visit everyday, let alone own. ‌ "Whatever we decide to do long-term, winning this house has changed all our lives forever, it's an incredible feeling." Emily, who has worked in the same profession for 25 years, had dreamed of cutting back her hours to enjoy more quality time with her husband, their children, and the family dogs - but like many, never imagined it would actually come true. "People say that money can't buy time, but winning a house worth millions means we can finally work less and spend more time together," says Emily. "This win will give us the freedom to go on adventures. We'd actually just bought a campervan to try and go away more as a family - it's fair to say winning this house is a bit of an upgrade on a campervan." ‌ The couple, who share a large family - with Richard having three adult children in their 30s and four grandchildren - are looking forward to hosting gatherings in the luxurious kitchen and stunning outdoor terrace. She continued: "This win means we can think about cutting back on work and just enjoying spending more time as a family. "I've always said if I ever won something like this, I'd focus on enjoying life properly. Now that dream's suddenly a reality. ‌ "It means I can finally take a breath after 25 years of working flat out. It's not just a win, it gives us so many incredible opportunities for the future. "It changes everything - not just for us, but for our children too. Thanks to the £250,000 we also get as part of our win, we could afford to stay here for years if we decided to. Or maybe we'll rent it out to a new Man City signing?". "All of this for just £25 - it's unbelievable! The only thing I'd won before was a bottle of orange squash in the tombola at the kid's school fair, I didn't even win the wine." ‌ Emily's stunning new home blends bold contemporary design with refined natural materials, showcasing dramatic cantilevers, expansive glass walls, and recessed balconies. Spanning over 6,300 sq ft across three floors, it offers bright, spacious living throughout. What's on the first floor? ‌ double-height living room with a floor-to-ceiling glazed wall providing Emily with uninterrupted views across the Cheshire countryside a wraparound south-facing terrace connects directly to the landscaped gardens below. a custom-built kitchen with a range of high-end Miele appliances and opens onto the main entertaining level What's on the ground floor? a full leisure suite featuring an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and gym with dedicated changing facilities walk-in wine store fourth bedroom with an additional shower room ‌ What's on the second floor? main bedroom suite complete with an en suite bathroom and a large dressing room overlooking the garden two further en suite bedrooms What can you find outside the home? ‌ Externally, Emily's Cheshire red sandstone home is situated on a private road and spans over half an acre of beautifully landscaped gardens, featuring terraced lawns and herbaceous borders. A path leads to a standalone home office nestled in a secluded corner of the garden, providing Emily with a tranquil spot to work or relax. In addition to making Emily a multimillionaire, the Omaze Million Pound House Draw in Cheshire raised £3.7 million for Anthony Nolan. With this latest campaign, Omaze has now raised a total of £100 million for UK charities since its launch in 2020. Anthony Nolan is a leading UK charity dedicated to matching stem cell donors with individuals suffering from blood cancer or blood disorders. The organisation also supports groundbreaking research and offers essential assistance to patients and their families. ‌ Funds raised will help support the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre in Nottingham, speeding up the process of delivering lifesaving transplants to those in need. Henny Braund MBE, Chief Executive of Anthony Nolan said: 'The £3.7 million will mean the running costs of the Cell Collection Centre will be covered for the next 18 months – providing 1,850 urgently needed lifesaving stem cell donations, each one giving a patient more time with the people they love - and ultimately 1,850 more chances to save a life.' The partnership received backing from Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman CBE, a long-standing patron of the charity, who supported the campaign in memory of her friend Pip. James Oakes, President of Omaze, said: 'Everyone at Omaze is thrilled that Emily has won this spectacular home in Cheshire's Golden Triangle, whilst also helping to raise £3.7 million for Anthony Nolan. 'This campaign is a particularly proud moment for us, as it sees Omaze surpass £100 million raised for UK charities since launching just five years ago. From life-saving medical research to grassroots community projects, that money is making a profound difference right across the country." Entries for the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Cornwall, are now open at The Grand Prize Draw will close on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August 2025 for online entries and Wednesday, 27th August 2025 for postal entries.

Man Utd transfer news: Amorim's role in Sesko deal as rivals provide Baleba competition

Manchester United have landed the signing of Benjamin Sesko with Ruben Amorim playing a key role as the club consider going after PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma Manchester United's rebuild continues under Ruben Amorim with the club confirming the signing of Benjamin Sesko this weekend - capturing the striker from under Newcastle's nose. ‌ The Red Devils beat their Premier League rivals to the signing of the Slovenian, who moves to Old Trafford for more than £70million to bolster their attack. The club had been looking to land a new frontman to compliment fellow newbies Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. ‌ It is understood that a midfielder is next on their shopping list with Brighton 's Carlos Baleba heavily linked, albeit the player himself has shown no desire to quit Brighton. The Seagulls also do not have to sell this summer. ‌ Amorim will also hope to rid of some of his fringe players, some of their big names on big wages. The likes of Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnaco and Antony are well yet to find new homes. Here's the latest from Old Trafford. Sesko explains Amorim role in move United's new frontman admitted the mood around the club was evident from minute one with Amorim's changes clearly making a difference when attracting new faces. The ex-Sporting Lisbon manager's vision is also turning heads and aided Sesko's decision. He said: 'When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon. ‌ 'From the moment that I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment that the club has created. It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil all of my ambitions. I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben [Amorim] and connecting with my team-mates to achieve the success that we all know we are capable of together.' PSG ready for Donnarumma bid PSG anticipate a number of bids for goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after already signing his replacement — and the French champions believe United will be among the clubs queuing up. ‌ The Parisians have agreed a deal for Lille shotstopper Lucas Chevalier, who will join on a five-year contract after the Champions League winners decided to pay up €40m (£34.7m), with the potential for a further €15m (£13m) in add-ons, for his services. Donnarumma has just one year remaining on his contract in Paris and the club are happy to part ways with the understanding they would still have two top goalkeepers at the Parc des Princes. The former AC Milan star is said to have been interested in extending his deal but an agreement was not reached. ‌ Baleba competition United could face firm competition from local neighbours Manchester City, who are also keeping tabs on Baleba. Reports claim that the Red Devils have made contact with Brighton through intermediaries to register their interest in Baleba, who was signed for £23.2m back in 2023. But United are not the only club who see the Cameroon international as a shrewd addition with City also long-time fans. ESPN have confirmed Pep Guardiola's interest in the Brighton man but it is unclear whether would look to match any United bid this summer. Darwin Nunez completes switch from Liverpool to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal

The 26-year-old Uruguay striker has finalised the move for a fee understood to be an initial £46million. The Anfield club said: 'Liverpool FC can confirm Darwin Nunez has completed a permanent transfer to Al-Hilal, subject to international clearance. Liverpool FC can confirm Darwin Nunez has completed a permanent transfer to Al-Hilal, subject to international clearance. Everybody at the club would like to thank Darwin for his contributions and wish him and his family all the best for the future. — Liverpool FC (@LFC) August 9, 2025 'The Uruguayan's three-year spell with the Reds concludes after he finalised a switch to the Saudi Pro League side today. 'Everybody at the club would like to thank Darwin for his contributions and wish him and his family all the best for the future.' Nunez moved to Anfield in June 2022 from Benfica for an initial fee of £64m. He scored 40 goals in 143 appearances for the Reds, but started just eight Premier League matches during their title-winning season last term. Nunez was a target for another Saudi club, Al Nassr, in January, but a £60m bid was rejected as Liverpool did not want to sell in the middle of the season. Nunez scored 40 goals for the Reds (Adam Davy/PA) However, his departure looked inevitable after a string of unconvincing displays, and takes Liverpool's income from sales this summer to almost £200m, with more likely to follow with £40m-plus-rated midfielder Harvey Elliott possibly on the move. It also opens up a space in their forward line, which has already been strengthened with the arrival of Hugo Ekitike as part of a near-£300m spend, and the number nine shirt. Liverpool retain an interest in Newcastle's Alexander Isak after having a £110m bid rejected last week. Magpies boss Eddie Howe confirmed on Friday that the wantaway Sweden striker is unlikely to feature in the opening game of the Premier League season at Aston Villa.
