Besut MRSM Bullying Case: Two More Students Detained As Second Victim Cries Out
Besut police chief Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said the two Form Three students were detained at 4 pm today after presenting themselves at the Besut district police headquarters with their families.
"The arrest of the two brings the total number of detained students from the school to seven: six Form Three students and one Form Five student.
"Today, five students have been remanded for three days while the two students who were just arrested this evening will be brought to the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate's Court tomorrow to obtain a remand order," he said in a statement today.
He said the remand order was issued against all suspects to enable an investigation under Section 147 of the Penal Code (for rioting) to be carried out.
In a related development, Azamuddin said yesterday evening his department received a report regarding another Form Two student who was also allegedly a victim in the same incident.
"The victim claimed to have been bullied by the same group in the incident that occurred at 11.30 pm on Tuesday at the boarding school's hostel, resulting in pain in both right and left legs."
Azamuddin said in a statement yesterday that a Form Two male student at Besut MRSM claimed he was bullied by several seniors in the hostel at 11.30 pm on Tuesday.
He said that based on the report by the victim, he was ordered to crouch in a semi-squat position with slippers placed on his head for 40 minutes, punched in the stomach and slapped, causing the victim to experience pain in his stomach and right rib as well as bruises on the back of his body.

KOTA KINABALU: The legal team representing the family of Zara Qairina Mahathir has welcomed the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC) decision to charge several suspects in connection with her alleged bullying case. The team, led by Hamid Ismail, said the decision aligns with recommendations they submitted to the A-GC on Aug 14. However, the lawyers noted that they have yet to be informed of the identities of those who will be charged in court. Earlier, the Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, when contacted, confirmed that five teenage girls would be charged in connection with Zara Qairina's death. Dusuki said the five would be charged at the Kota Kinabalu Juvenile Court on Wednesday. The A-GC said the decision was b ased on police investigation papers.

GOF Seizes 33,500 Kg Of Thai Rice Worth RM400,000
IPOH, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- The Ulu Kinta General Operations Force (GOF) seized 33,500 kilogrammes (kg) of white Thai rice worth around RM400,000 being smuggled in a trailer lorry in Gerik yesterday. GOF Northern Brigade commander, SAC Shahrum Hashim said a man, 44, was also arrested during the operation between 3.15 pm to 5.45 pm. 'The operation team detained a trailer lorry carrying 670 gunny sacks of white Thai rice, each weighing 50 kg, while it was on its way to a rice warehouse in Perak,' he said in a statement here today.

Six men remanded over armed assault outside nightclub
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have remanded six men for four days after a 29-year-old man was assaulted by a group of armed individuals outside a nightclub in the city. Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the suspects, aged between 25 and 29, were arrested following a report lodged at 9.33am yesterday. A 28-second video of the incident has since gone viral, showing the victim being attacked and sustaining injuries to his back. "The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for possessing weapons during a riot, and Section 326 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt," he said in a statement today. He added that police obtained a four-day remand order for all suspects under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code, until Thursday.
