Eagles React to NFL's A.J. Brown Announcement on Monday

Eagles React to NFL's A.J. Brown Announcement on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is heading into his seventh NFL season following his team's Super Bowl LIX title in 2024-25. Brown put forth yet another impressive campaign this past season, reeling in 67 catches for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns — marking his fifth NFL season with at least 1,000 yards and seven touchdown grabs. The NFL recognized Brown's elite play on Monday, naming him the No. 29 overall player on the 2025 NFL Top 100 list. "A big contributor to the Eagles' regular season success and Super Bowl run, Brown has been a reliable target for Jalen Hurts since he's arrived in Philadelphia," Christian Gonzales writes on "Brown was the engine that kept Philadelphia's season afloat with his consistency and deep-threat ability. Ever since Brown was traded to Philly, the Eagles wideout has recorded three-straight 1,000-yard seasons, and now he locks in his third consecutive Top 100 appearance." The Eagles reacted to this news with a post on social media. "AYYY-OOO joins the Top 100 list at No. 29," the team wrote on X. Brown clearly has the respect of his NFL peers around the league. "When the ball is in his hands, he's a playmaker," Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram said in the NFL's Top 100 video. "His natural ability to just make a play after the catch is really impressive. It's something I study and I try to emulate." This is Brown's third consecutive appearance on the NFL Top 100 list. Last year, he claimed the No. 21 spot. Brown and the Eagles will kickoff their 2025 NFL regular-season campaign with a Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Sep. 4. Packers-Seahawks fight: Punches thrown between Zach Tom and Ernest Jones IV as joint practice erupts in brawl

When the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks take the field for their final preseason game Saturday, there could be some lingering animosity between both sides. Both teams engaged in a brawl Thursday after punches were thrown during a joint practice. The incident was captured by fans observing the practice. In the video, it looks like Packers lineman Zach Tom and Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV were the two players who threw punches before the rest of the teams got involved. That wasn't the only scuffle at the practice. It sounds like at least one other fight broke out as the two teams went at it. It's fairly common to see training-camp fights at this point in the preseason. Tensions rise as players engage in multiple days of hard workouts in extreme heat. At a certain point, those frustrations boil over, other resulting in players going at it in practices. While Tom and Jones would be penalized — and ejected — during a regular-season game, the two are unlikely to face much punishment for Thursday's scuffle. Their teams may opt to discipline them by pulling them from practice, but the NFL is unlikely to get involved. The league usually allows teams to police themselves at this point in the season. Any repeat of that brawl Saturday feels unlikely. Both players and teams know what's at stake if they fight in a game. Even if the two wanted to fight again, they might not get the chance. Tom and Jones are fully entrenched as starters heading into 2025 and may not even play in the final preseason game.

Miami Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa welcomes chance to play vs. Jaguars

MIAMI GARDENS ― Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa says he's eager to play in the teams' third and final preseason game, at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars. "That'd be a great opportunity," Tagovailoa said following Miami's final training camp practice of the 2025 season. "Great opportunity. Hopefully we get to get (Jaylen) Waddle out there. Just get him back in his routine, his game day routine. The feel of getting here in the first play, going out running the plays. And then there's other guys as well." Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel plans to play some starters, while Jaguars coach Liam Coen plans to hold them out on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Hard Rock Stadium. This should give Miami an excellent chance to finish this preseason with confidence. The Dolphins performed well in a joint practice on Thursday, Aug. 21. Mike McDaniel: Some Dolphins starters to play vs. Jaguars Tagovailoa was sharp. Conversely, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was intercepted by Dolphins defensive backs Minkah Fitzpatrick and Jack Jones. "Today wasn't our best showing," Lawrence told reporters after practice. "We're learning. Growing. Getting better." Tagovailoa had a strong camp overall. "It's really the process versus the result," Tua said. "I'd say in the previous (camps), it's more so trying to find the big plays, trying to get a result out of that, if you will, versus going through the process. I think as you go through the process, you're a little more present than trying to think that this is gonna' be open and then try to make it open in your mind." Tagovailoa has historically been dominant when targeting standouts like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and far less so when targeting others. Working with the likes of Dee Eskridge, Malik Washington, Tahj Washington and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine could prove beneficial. "It also allows me the opportunity to see which guys I can trust, which guys I can depend on," Tua said. Miami's offense is so rhythm- and timing-based. Miami Dolphins schedule: Jaguars will wrap-up preseason That's part of why Tagovailoa welcomes perhaps a series or two on Saturday. "I want to work on timing with these guys," Tua said. "I want to see the procedural aspect of it, how we do with the pre-snap deals, motion, motion landmarks, lining up in the right spots, going out, playing fast, everyone knowing where to be, knowing where to go. That's what I wanna' see for these guys." Noteworthy RB Jaylen Wright and WR AJ Henning left practice with apparent injuries... Left tackle Patrick Paul continues to perform well and often excelled against Jaguars standout Josh Hines-Allen... Dee Eskridge completed an excellent camp... The Dolphins were physical on both sides of the ball... Scrappy CB Jack Jones was in the middle of multiple snaps... Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter suited up but did not practice in team drills... Kendall Sheffield and Kenneth Grant are day-to-day and did not practice for Miami... Tight end Darren Waller focused on conditioning.
