The Future Of Festivals: Authentic, Sustainable, And Gen Z-Driven
Born between 1997 and 2012, Generation Z is a digitally native, socially conscious group that prioritizes authenticity, sustainability, and purpose-driven experiences. Representing roughly 25% of the global population, Gen Z is on track to become the largest and wealthiest generation by 2030, with an estimated global spending power of $12 trillion.
For festival organizers, failing to cater to this influential demographic means overlooking a rapidly growing consumer base with rising disposable income and a clear preference for values-based consumption.
Compared to previous generations, Gen Z is significantly reducing meat consumption, driven by health, environmental, and ethical considerations. In fact, around 61% are willing to eat less meat, increasingly opting for plant-based or hybrid alternatives that align with their sustainability values.
Their alcohol consumption habits are also shifting. At live events, Gen Z drinks approximately 25% less alcohol than Millennials and older cohorts, favoring alcohol-free options and sophisticated mocktails instead.
To meet these evolving preferences, festival planners must implement advanced demand forecasting and inventory planning solutions—such as AI-driven predictive analytics—to stock appropriate quantities of vegan food, non-alcoholic drinks, and locally sourced products, all while minimizing waste. Circular inventory systems for reusable infrastructure further support zero-waste goals.
Key Benefits:
For Generation Z, sustainability is a core expectation—not a bonus. Research shows that 73% of Gen Z would boycott events with poor environmental practices, making transparency and measurable impact essential.
Organizers can turn to technology platforms that monitor real-time ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) metrics—such as carbon emissions, waste levels, and water use. These tools enable festivals to track progress toward net-zero goals and communicate these efforts directly to attendees through apps or wearable devices, building trust with eco-conscious participants.
Key Benefits:
Gen Z expects events to reflect their values—not just in programming but in partnerships. As such, festivals must collaborate with vendors who meet clear standards for sustainability, ethical labor, and local sourcing.
Digital supplier platforms can streamline this process, allowing organizers to vet, score, and onboard partners based on certifications and compliance. The result is a transparent, trustworthy supply chain that aligns with attendee expectations.
Key Benefits:
Generation Z is redefining the festival experience. Their preferences for sustainability, plant-based diets, low- or no-alcohol consumption, and ethical sourcing are prompting organizers to reevaluate long-standing models. By embracing advanced planning tools, real-time environmental tracking, and transparent vendor partnerships, festivals can deliver experiences that resonate with this powerful demographic—ensuring cultural relevance, audience loyalty, and long-term viability in a changing market.

These 3 stocks are 'great buying opportunities,' CIO says
Blanke Schein Wealth Management chief investment officer Robert Schein joins Market Domination Overtime with Josh Lipton to discuss three stock picks he thinks are "buying opportunities": D.R. Horton (DHI), Apple (AAPL), and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). To watch more expert insights and analysis on the latest market action, check out more Market Domination Overtime. I've had strategists on this week, um, who have told me they're actually getting, and the word they used was uneasy about the market. Um, and I asked them why, and they said just kind of the the move off the April low, the speed of it, uh, no surprise, for example, they they were getting a little uneasy about valuation in particular, they were feeling kind of stretched here. Do you share that, or no, you think we we grow into that valuation? Yeah, valuations are stretched a little bit from where we are. We could see, and seasonality is going to play right in, right? The third quarter we're going to see August, September and October, uh, markets taking a breather, and really just like, you know, seeing how the tariffs And we saw that breather, Robert. Let's say you saw a pullback. Let's say you even saw a correction. Would you would you expect even if we saw that, okay, investors would just jump right back in? I it depends. Uh, it's stock specific, sector specific, uh, and moving forward, yeah, there's going to be great buying opportunities. Let's talk about some of those opportunities you see. One is, you were just mentioning Apple. Yeah. You see that as an opportunity. Now, clearly there's been some some disappointment from investors this year, Robert. I mean, you can see in the stock, folks have questions about their strategy, their place in the AI market, but it's an opportunity in your opinion. I really like Apple right now, uh, 14% off of, uh, you know, down 14% year to date. The markets are up 10 plus percent respectively. Uh, and and so we saw this with Amazon two years ago, and Amazon went through a consolidation period, but they have scale, scalability. As an example, with Apple specifically, they have two billion iOS devices with it. Yeah. Ten rough. That's a lot of loyal locked-in customers there. All they have to do, and oh, by the way, I don't know if you saw this, but they just soft launched and announced, uh, Apple One care, basically. So if you have your your devices, I have I've looked at it, and you can add on, uh, more insurance for $5.99 a month, um, for all your devices that the insurance has expired. So we've got a lot of kids in our house, a lot of devices. They just got another $1,000 a year for me. You go across the board, and immediately they're picking up revenue, uh, hand over fist. It's going to be accretive moving forward just in little spaces like that. Another name, we were talking about the housing market earlier, DR Horton. Why is that a pick? Yeah. So DR Horton is the basically, um, the best house in the housing, you know, market, if you will, uh, as it relates to. It's the largest home builder in the United States. We believe interest rates are going to come down. As they come down, it's going to unlock and unfreeze the real estate market, and DR Horton is has the ability to capture uh, and continue just to be a leader in that category. Again, it's a category that's down year to date, but I think the housing is still going to continue, and the reason why is we're 3.8 million homes undersupplied in the United States. That's a 10-year burn off on a supply demand equilibrium. You get interest rates kicking in. DR Horton's uh in the right spot for that. Final question, let's go from home builders to chips. Talk about AMD. AMD is uh, got pricing power. You know, most companies don't with their latest uh, M M1350 chip. Uh, they went from $9,000 or $15,000 a chip to $25,000 a chip, uh, because the demand is so great. And uh, they're a Nvidia competitor right now, and uh, they're proving that they can do just as that. Robert, great to have you on set. Appreciate your time, those picks, sir. Thank you. Thank you.
