Mega PTM 2.0 draws 2.3 crore participants at 61k schools in Andhra
Spearheaded by HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, the PTM united students, parents, teachers, school management committees, officials, donors, and alumni to bolster the State's education system.
Held on Guru Purnima, the PTM at the Zilla Parishad High School in Kothacheruvu, Puttaparthi, Sri Sathya Sai district, was attended by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who described schools as modern temples of knowledge, and urged collective responsibility to nurture them.
The PTM, the second major initiative under the TDP-led NDA government, marked an unprecedented effort, with Lokesh noting, 'Never before has a parent-teacher meeting been conducted across the entire State in one day.'
Now, the Mega PTM 2.0 with over 2.3 crore participants in a single day is set for an entry into Guinness World Records.
Naidu, engaging directly with students, parents, and teachers, shared a personal anecdote about his wife Bhuvaneswari's dedication to their son Lokesh's education, ensuring his admission to prestigious institutions like Cambridge and Stanford.
He praised Lokesh, now HRD Minister, for taking the responsibility of shaping the future of Andhra Pradesh's students.
Naidu emphasised his commitment to elevating government schools to compete with private institutions.

‘SIR will ensure rights of genuine voters'
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, MoS in the PMO, and MoS for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy, and Department of Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, criticised the Opposition for creating confusion over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. In a free-wheeling interview with Rajesh Kumar Thakur, he accused them of misleading the public out of fear of losing ineligible votes. Excerpts: Opposition is united against SIR being carried out in poll-bound Bihar, accusing your government of using it to drop voters from other parties. What do you have to say? These are untrue and baseless allegations made by the Opposition out of fear and frustration over losing the support of undeserving voters. The SIR, which is now being carried out successfully in Bihar, is not intended to remove people from voting lists but to ensure that voting rights are upheld for genuine voters. The Opposition currently has no agenda other than opposing initiatives that are in the larger interest of the nation or individual states. Will voter names' removal under SIR hurt NDA's poll chances in Bihar? Absolutely not. It is not designed to prevent anyone from exercising their voting rights but to ensure that only genuine voters participate. The people of Bihar are highly aware and understand the benefits of such an exercise, and they will not be misled by the Opposition. The NDA will not face any negative electoral consequences; in fact, it is the Opposition—which has been exploiting the inclusion of ineligible voters without proper documentation—that is alarmed by SIR.

Centre slams western media for 'vested' probe coverage
New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Sunday said that the Union government will wait for the final report on the Air India crash in Ahmedabad before making any conclusions. The minister urged the western media to avoid speculation and lauded the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) for successfully decoding the black box data in India. 'AAIB has made an appeal to all, especially Western media houses, which may have a vested interest in the kind of articles they are trying to publish. I believe in AAIB. I believe in the work that they are doing. They have done a wonderful job in decoding the whole black box and getting the data out in India itself,' Naidu said. He called it a major achievement, pointing out that earlier, the black box had to be sent abroad to retrieve data. 'It was a huge success for us because previous incidents, whenever the black box was seen to be damaged, it was always sent abroad to get the data out. " "But this is the first time that successfully AAIB has decoded everything. The data has been here. The preliminary report has also been seen,' the minister remarked. Calling for caution until the investigation is complete, the minister said drawing conclusions at this stage would be inappropriate. 'Making any comments until the final report has come, I don't think it is a good exercise on behalf of anyone. We are also very cautious and studying the report thoroughly, and whatever necessary needs to be done in terms of safety, we are ready to do it,' said the Civil Aviation Minister. He reiterated the need for patience and affirmed the government's commitment to aviation safety. 'Regarding the incident and investigation, we have to wait for the final report before we say anything.' The AAIB is currently reviewing the circumstances surrounding the Air India crash that took place in Ahmedabad on June 12. The preliminary findings are under examination, and the final report is expected to offer a clearer picture of the causes and necessary safety interventions.
