Shock moment easyJet passenger is tackled in mid-air after 'Allahu Akbar' shouts
Dramatic footage captured onboard an easyJet flight shows passengers restraining a man who shouted about a bomb, prompting an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport.
In the video, chaos unfolds in the cramped cabin as a man raises his hands and shouts 'Allahu Akbar'. He can also be heard mentioning a "bomb" and moments later yells 'death to America' and 'death to Trump'. The recording shows passengers swiftly intervening, wrestling the man to the ground and pinning him against the aisle floor. A person in a green jacket is seen approaching the man and dragging him to the ground.
The plane made an emergency landing after the incident unfolded. "The pilot announced he was making an emergency landing and took the plane down so quickly," one passenger, who did not wish to be named, told The Sun.
The witness added: "He literally came out of the toilet shouting 'Allahu Akbar' with his hands above his head. Then he said 'I've got a bomb, I've got a bomb' - at this point people were confused. I thought he was joking, I mean it's a weird joke."
Once the plane was on the ground at Glasgow Airport, police boarded the flight and removed the man. Police confirmed a 41-year-old man was arrested, and counter-terrorism officers are reviewing the footage now circulating on social media.
An easyJet spokesperson said: "Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard.
"EasyJet's crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority."
A Police Scotland spokesman added: "We received a report of a man causing a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow around 8.20am on Sunday, 27 July, 2025. A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection and further enquiries are ongoing.
"At this time we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved. We are aware of videos circulating online and these are being assessed by counter terrorism officers.'

The Trump administration will send up to 1,000 migrants to an expanded prison in Indiana dubbed the Speedway Slammer. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the prison, which appears to have been named after the state's motorsport industry, said the facility will 'house some of the worst criminal aliens arrested by ICE'. The detention facility is the latest creatively-named project from the Trump administration set to open as part of Donald Trump's efforts to carry out the largest mass deportation in US history. Last month, Florida unveiled Alligator Alcatraz, a newly built 3,000 capacity prison constructed on the swampy site of an abandoned airstrip deep in Florida's Everglades. Annie Goeller, chief communications officer for the Indiana Department of Correction, previously said part of the facility had not been filled because of a staffing shortages. 'We are proud to work with president Trump and secretary Noem as they remove the worst of the worst with this innovative partnership,' said Indiana Governor Mike Braun. 'Indiana is taking a comprehensive and collaborative approach to combating illegal immigration and will continue to lead the way among states.' In a press release, the DHS said the agreement was an outcome of Mr Trump's 'one big beautiful bill', which set out funding for 80,000 new beds for ICE. The department's X account also shared an AI generated image of an open-wheel race car with 'ICE' emblazoned on its side and rear wing. The Hoosier State has already supported the Trump administration's efforts to expand ICE capacity. Last month Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary, announced Camp Atterbury, a military base around 40 miles from Indianapolis, would be used to temporarily hold migrants for DHS, according to previous reports. Since the Alligator Alcatraz opened last month, hundreds of people have been rounded up and sent to the makeshift encampment. Deportation flights have taken off directly from the facility.

Passengers told The Sun they were knocking back alcohol after the scheduled 5.55am departure was delayed. One of the nicked hooligans was later alleged to be found carrying cocaine and MDMA. An emergency was declared one hour into Jet2's Flight 1577 to Heraklion in Crete on Tuesday morning. 'Officers were alerted to the flight's imminent return to Stansted Airport and detained two passengers for searches.
