Nicole Scherzinger 'shelves her upcoming solo album' following Broadway success

Daily Mail6 hours ago

has reportedly 'shelved her upcoming solo album' following her success on Broadway.
The singer, 45, who cancelled The Pussycat Dolls reunion shows in 2022, hasn't released a solo album since her 2014 dance-pop record, Big Fat Lie, failed to chart.
She was said to be working on an album in 2022 but made her debut as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard in London the following year.
The show then transferred to Broadway, where it has earned her both a Tony and a Laurence Olivier Award.
Nicole is said to have 'spent a fortune' on her album after being dropped from her record label in 2015.
A source told The Sun: 'Things were really coming together and she was hunting for a team to release it when Sunset Boulevard came along.'
They added: 'The plan was to revisit the album after the West End run finished last year, but the show ended up going to Broadway and now she has loads of exciting offers on the table.
'She is in a totally different place in her life from when she wrote the album, so it's been shelved.'
MailOnline has contacted Nicole Scherzinger's representative for comment.
Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber has described Nicole as 'one of the most gifted singer-actresses I have seen perform my work… she is fearless, musically and dramatically.'
After the Tony Awards last week, Nicole posted a video on Instagram during the ceremony where she performed a Sunset Boulevard number.
In the gushing post, she wrote: 'This is a dream come true for me to perform As If We Never Said Goodbye.
'This is my love letter to the theatre. And to anyone with a deep passion for what you do, this was for you too.'
She added: 'What an honour to share this song with a community that has held me and lifted me. I am forever grateful.
As she accepted her Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical award, for her performance of fading Hollywood star Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, Nicole said: 'Growing up I always felt like I didn't belong, but you all have made me feel like I belong, and I have come home at last.'
She then thanked her fiancé Thom Evans, adding he 'believes in me when I forget to believe in myself.'
She also said: 'I'm so honoured to be recognised alongside these exceptional warrior women in this category. I want to thank you all so much for making this little Hawaiian/ Ukrainian/ Filipino girl's dream come true. So proud to represent.'
After she thanked her family, she then thanked composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, sharing: 'It has been such an honour to be able to create with you the past 15 years.'
Nicole has defied the odds to become the babe of Broadway, when just a few years ago, it would have seemed impossible for the former Pussycat Doll to win such a gong.
Following a 'flop' attempt at a solo singing career after the pop group disbanded in 2010, her stage career had also looked doomed following a vicious spat with Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber - despite her shout out to him on Sunday.
Nine years ago, the former Pussycat Doll had just pulled out of his Broadway production of Cats at the last minute to take a seven-figure salary to return as a judge on ITV's X Factor. Furious Lord Webber declared that she would never 'get her Tony Award'.
Lord Webber had raged: 'I'm furious because I really believe she's the most fantastically talented girl and I went out on a limb... but never mind, there'll be another girl on Broadway and Nicole will not get her Tony Award.'
But following raving reviews in his new Sunset Boulevard show, Nicole has become Lloyd Webber's shining diamond on Broadway - and not only has he eaten his words, but he's become her biggest cheerleader.
She has also appeared in Men in Black 3, voiced a role in Disney's Moana, and starred in stage productions of Rent and Cats.

Dancing With The Stars choreographer Dave Scott dead at 52: Beloved talent also worked with Wicked director

Dave Scott, the choreographer in residence on season eight of Dancing With The Stars, has died at the age of just 52. Born and raised in Compton, he enjoyed a dazzling career during which he also worked as a resident choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance. He also staged the dances for Step Up 2: The Streets, helmed by Jon M. Chu, who went on to direct Crazy Rich Asians and the two-part film adaptation of Wicked. His loved ones announced his passing on his Instagram page this Tuesday, one day after the fact, but did not specify a cause of death. 'It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Dave Scott, who touched so many lives with his warmth, kindness and spirit,' they wrote. 'During this difficult time we are doing our best to honor his memory in the way he deserves with love, dignity and respect,' they added. 'In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to contribute towards memorial arrangements and helping us celebrate Dave Scott's life in a meaningful way, with a celebration of life,' they concluded underneath a picture of Scott. Their caption offered the additional message: 'Today we have lost an icon, a legend, a father and a dear friend. The weight of this loss will send ripples through time. But his memory and legacy will continue to live on.' They touchingly wrote: 'We love you Dave Scott and everything you've accomplished and the joy and comfort you've brought to people will never be forgotten.' Friends flooded into the comments to express their grief, including Dancing With The Stars pro Derek Hough, who posted praying and broken heart emoji. Mariah Carey's ex Bryan Tanaka, who was one of her backup dancers for years before they started dating, wrote: 'You inspired so many including me. The power in your movement spoke so many things. I see you.' 'Dave was like a big brother to so many of us,' wrote Glee actor Kevin McHale. 'When I felt reallllly out of place amongst so many great performers, he always made me comfortable and confident. Watching him dance and teach was a gift.' 'This one hits hard,' added another Glee star, Harry Shum Jr. 'You gave me so much confidence as a performer and welcomed me with open arms to your dance world that many were inspired by. Thank you for spreading so much joy with your love of dance. May you rest in peace brother Dave.' Scott was behind the dances in a variety of projects like the films You Got Served with Meagan Good and Made Of Honor with Patrick Dempsey, as well as television series ranging from So You Think You Can Dance to Bones. Stomp The Yard, the 2007 dance drama starring Meagan Good, Chris Brown, Columbus Short, Ne-Yo and more, was also choreographed by Scott. In addition to his work in movies and TV, Scott choreographed for musical artists like Tyrese, Brian McKnight, Ginuwine and Bow Wow. He even staged a dance-off of Miley Cyrus and Mandy Jiroux versus the legendary Australian rock band ACDC at the Teen Choice Awards. Debbie Allen, the star and choreographer of the TV series Fame, hired him as the head of the hip-hop intensive at her dance academy in Los Angeles. His fascination with hip hop dance 'when I was 15 growing up in Compton,' he said during a 2008 interview with Dance magazine. 'Everybody was doing B-boy moves. It started off on my street. We took a bike ramp down, put cardboard down and started doing back stands and all of that kind of stuff.' He recalled: 'I learned how to dance by watching TV, watching videos and stuff like that. My favorite was Michael Jackson. It was ridiculous. I watched all of his videos and redid the choreography and added on stuff.' Scott noted that he 'I was always creative because I taught myself how to dance. So I always had the desire to create something and choreograph.' He shared that 'when I started dancing, I got a tour. Then I just started adding pieces of choreography to the tour. But, really, I have always been, from the time I started to dance, more of a creator a choreographer.' Scott described his work as a 'triple reward because when I do my choreography, I always put myself in the audience and act like: "What can wow me?" And so I do the choreography, and then the reward is that you see what you created come to life.' He added: "The second reward is, a lot of people choreograph, but they really don't dance. Third, I dance hard, like pretty much harder than the people I hire. To be a part of it, it's a good feeling.'

Jax Taylor offers groveling apology for behavior on The Valley as fans begin petition to get him booted off show

After a whole season of questionable and controversial behavior on The Valley, Jax Taylor offered numerous groveling apologies on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live. The 45-year-old reality star from Vanderpump Rules and now The Valley appeared alongside his former VPR co-star Tom Schwartz on Tuesday's episode of WWHL. Host Andy Cohen even began the episode by acknowledging that many people weren't happy that he was on the show in the first place, including Kristen Doute. When Andy mentioned that Doute commented that she didn't believe he should be on the show, Jax snidely responded, 'I didn't know she was the boss.' Many fans of the show agreed as well, with a petition started on Tuesday entitled, 'Remove Jax Taylor from Television for Offensive Conduct.' While fans expressed their anger with Jax, the reality star spent the brunt of the episode essentially apologizing for everything, while revealing his biggest 'regret' in his relationship with Brittany Cartwright as well. Cohen opened the show by asking Jax what he would say to fans who thought he shouldn't be there in the first place, as he issued the first of several apologies. 'First of all, I want to apologize to everybody who is watching this right now. The stuff that was shown is pretty triggering to a lot of people, and I am watching it back, I watched the episode now,' Jax said, as Andy mentioned that was 'a first' since he apparently never watched VPR or The Valley before. 'You watch it back, and I am just utterly embarrassed of my actions. Like I said, nobody should ever have to deal with the way I acted. Nobody should have to deal with, you know, verbal abuse from anybody,' as Cohen added, 'At minimum.' Jax added, 'Yeah, I'm really sorry that, you know, people had to see all that,' before Andy asked, 'And are you sorry to Britney?" 'Very sorry to Britney, because it was a very, very, very tough year for both of us,' he said, before confirming he is currently, '201 days sober.' He confirmed that those 201 days represent him getting out of rehab until now, adding that he is currently being drug tested regularly, even though it isn't mandatory. 'I have my therapist do it when I go into therapy, it was a deal. I don't have to do that, legally, but I said, you know what? I want to be held accountable,' Jax said. He added that, 'Britney has drug tests at the house, she can test me anytime she wants. To be honest with you right now, that is not the issue, I have a lot of other issues.' Jax admitted his 'ego, anger, control and manipulation' were the things he needed to address the most, though Andy mentioned some thought the rehab place was, 'B.S.' adding it was 'weird' that he had his phone and he was allowed to leave. 'Right. Yeah, I don't make the rules. So, the state of California, they don't allow you to have without your phone for 48 hours. I took advantage of that, but should I have left the phone? Absolutely. But, I needed a control because I am a control freak and I felt like that was my only sense of control,' Jax admitted. He added the rehab facility was called Psyclarity, when Andy brought him him, 'uncovering the security cameras and spying on Britney.' 'That was, yeah, another one. You know, just, again, just a sense of control. And when you are in this thing -- oh, I am there, we are filming a show. In the back of my head, I am like, I know these things are going on, I know they are talking about me, and I couldn't really lean on my therapy because I knew in the back of my head that they were talking, and there were things going on and I couldn't control except for my phone and the rage text were obviously very inappropriate, but I was looking for something in return, I wanted to see if she cared and that is why I was doing all of that,' Jax admitted. When Andy asked, 'How do not tell the mother of your child that you stopped paying the mortgage on the home that your kid lives in?' Jax admitted, 'That was a part of my downfall. This was like, really, when I was in -- I was heavily into drugs and alcohol and just didn't care, I just did not care.' When asked why he was mad about Brittany hooking up with Julian Sensley when he was unfaithful with her, Jax said, 'I wasn't mad about the fact that she was hooking up, it was my friend. But, then, you know, "Look what I did, with the Kristin situation." So, I am like, I don't really have a leg to stand on, I was just really angry in the beginning, really angry at how fast it was. I look back now, I'm not mad anymore, but in the beginning, I was just so angry.' When asked about his lies to Janet and Jason about the house mortgage, he said, 'The goal is to give her the RSS fee, that is the equivalent to helping with the mortgage, that was the goal. He added that their divorce is set to be finalized on July 21, adding that he sees their son Cruz, '2 to 3 times a week, we obviously have different schedules, crazy schedules, so I will take him for a couple days, "Can I have them for the weekend?" That part has been good, I can't complain about that. Hopefully, it stays like that, for now.' When asked about a story about him going to the hospital, which Brittany heard from Jax's sister while he was spying her her, he said that he had high blood pressure and not a heart attack as previously rumored. 'It was high blood pressure. They were testing me, they were like, "Listen, by law, we have to take you to the hospital, while you go sit on the couch and see if it goes down." It went down. They were like, "Why don't you call Brittany and let them know you are not going?" I said, "No." Again, this was a control thing, I wanted to see if they had a reaction, I wanted to see if they cared, I wanted to see if they would call and say "We are worried about him." I felt like nobody cared about me, nobody comes to see me, I just felt very alone,' Jax admitted. When Tom Schwartz was asked his reaction to what Jax was saying, he admitted it was, 'one part, pathetic, but another part, brutally honest.' Schwartz admitted he doesn't think Taylor has changed yet, but he gave him credit for the 201 days of sobriety. Taylor admitted his, 'biggest regret is not ending this marriage sooner,' adding, 'I think this should have been over a long time ago,' as Cohen mentioned, 'Your biggest regret, maybe should also be how you treated her,' as Taylor admitted, 'Yeah, yeah.' Many who signed the petition shared their own stories of abuse at the hands of men like Jax, including Andrea from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 'Watching Jax is a straight up trigger for me, I had a panic attack watching the episode tonight. He should not have a platform to make this kind of behavior seem normal. He is disgusting!' she said. Many fans chimed in on social media as well, including @maxhadid30, who said, '#TheValley #WWHL (The Valley producer) Alex Baskin and Bravo will be complicit when Jax eventually seriously hurts/kills somebody. It's disgusting that Bravo and Alex insist on platforming and enabling a dangerous abuser like Jax Taylor.' Another X user - @ThrillrErotik - said earlier in the day, 'A reminder to Bravo fans to NOT watch tonight's episode of @BravoWWHL tonight as @Andy and @BravoTV are platforming the abusive Jax Taylor once again! Bravo doubling down on supporting abuse is truly demented!#TheValley #WWHL #vpr #RHOA #BelowDeck.' Faiza from Ottawa added, 'Jax Taylor should be in jail. Not on our tv screens. What message is bravo sending? That they dont support women and support abusers time and time again? Absolutely disgusting.' Many fans chimed in on social media as well, including @maxhadid30, who said, '#TheValley #WWHL (The Valley producer) Alex Baskin and Bravo will be complicit when Jax eventually seriously hurts/kills somebody. It's disgusting that Bravo and Alex insist on platforming and enabling a dangerous abuser like Jax Taylor.' Erin Moon Honey Davies (@erinheartscoco) added, 'It's gross that Jax Taylor is going to be on #WWHL tonight. Why is he still being given a platform? Extremely disappointed by this for many reasons but the #1 is that he hit his wife and #2 is that his child was present for it @Andy @BravoWWHL @NBCUniversal #TheValley Jumata Emill (@brownboywriting) added, 'So Jax gets awarded a #WWHL appearance after his horrible behavior on #TheValley.' Another X user - @ThrillrErotik - said earlier in the day, 'A reminder to Bravo fans to NOT watch tonight's episode of @BravoWWHL tonight as @Andy and @BravoTV are platforming the abusive Jax Taylor once again!
