Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's friendship status revealed after Justin Baldoni drops subpoena amid ‘stressful' few weeks

Yahoo2 days ago

Taylor Swift and Blake Lively are reportedly still not speaking despite Justin Baldoni dropping the pop superstar's subpoena amid his legal battle with his 'It Ends With Us' co-star.
'There's been radio silence between Taylor and Blake since the subpoena was dropped,' a source told Us Weekly Saturday. 'They won't pick up where they left off because of all the emotional residue.'
Baldoni, 41, initially dragged Swift, 35, into his $400 defamation and extortion countersuit against Lively, 37, because he claimed the 'Gossip Girl' alum had leveraged her friendship with the famous singer to try and gain control of their 2024 film.
He alleged in the complaint, obtained by Page Six, that Lively brought Swift and her husband, Ryan Reynolds — whom she affectionately referred to as her 'dragons' — to a meeting about script re-writes, making Baldoni feel 'pressured' to accept the changes his co-star wanted.
'The message could not have been clearer. Baldoni was not just dealing with Lively. He was also facing Lively's 'dragons,' two of the most influential and wealthy celebrities in the world, who were not afraid to make things very difficult for him,' the director's lawyer Bryan Freedman previously claimed.
The countersuit was filed after Lively sued Baldoni for sexual harassment and other allegations.
Swift was then officially subpoenaed earlier this month, prompting the 'Fortnight' singer's rep to adamantly deny their client was ever involved in any 'casting' or 'creative decisions' pertaining to the film.
The legal drama immediately caused an even deeper rift between Swift and Lively, with a source telling People at the time the friendship 'has halted' and the 'Shake It Off' singer 'wants no part in this drama.'Baldoni's team then shockingly dropped Swift's subpoena just a few weeks later and an insider cryptically noted to Page Six at the time, 'When information is voluntarily received, there is no need for subpoenas.'
Last week, a source claimed to the Daily Mail that the 'Lover' singer's dad, Scott Swift, had made a deal with Baldoni's lawyers and he 'voluntarily gave up' information in an effort to protect his daughter.
Us Weekly's source added Saturday that Taylor is 'feeling an immense sense of relief' to be able to put the legal drama behind her, further noting, 'It's been a stressful few weeks for her and she seems happier and lighter since the subpoena was dropped.'
The insider also recognized that the 'Blank Space' singer handled the entire situation with 'a lot of grace and is not solely focused on it,' concluding, 'She's moved on.'
Taylor has much to celebrate lately, given that she recently bought back her masters.
'I've been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found that this is really happening. I really get to say those words,' she wrote in part in a lengthy letter to her fans on her website Friday.
Taylor was involved in a public feud with music manager Scooter Braun when he bought her masters for a reported $300 million dollars in 2019 — which she claimed he did without her permission. Then in 2020, Braun, 43, sold the recordings to Shamrock Capital, who just sold them back to the global superstar.

Teen Goes Viral Helping Burger King Coworkers After Graduating. Then Strangers Raised $200K to Send Him to College

Mykale Baker voluntarily, and spontaneously, helped his Burger King coworkers right after attending his high school graduation ceremony last month Customer Maria Mendoza, who noticed Baker was still wearing his graduation medals, captured the moment, which ended up going viral on TikTok. Then, she set up a college tuition fundraiser that has raised over $200,000 so far When the teen found out about everything he was shocked — but tells PEOPLE he also feels beyond blessedAn 18-year-old high school graduate in Georgia can now afford to go to college after his act of generosity on graduation night led to a viral TikTok. 'I just feel amazing,' Mykale Baker, who lives in Gwinnett County, tells PEOPLE. 'Blessed, honestly.' Mykale was one of about 700 students who graduated from Mills Creek High School last month. There, he received his diploma and two medals, one for band and the other for track. Afterwards, Mykale went to his local Burger King, where he works as a crew member, to pick up food for his family. Although he wasn't scheduled to work that night, he ended up helping out his busy coworkers behind the counter. 'Honestly, I walked in there and I just saw it was so busy,' he recalls. 'I was like, 'I'm not doing anything when I get home, so I might as well just help you out, give out a helping hand.' " The teen took off his cap and gown, but still wore his graduation medals around his neck, which caught the eye of a customer whose daughter went to the same school and also graduated that day. Maria Mendoza, 45, and her family — including the graduate, daughter Daizie — stopped in at the Burger King that night because Mendoza had a hankering for a Whopper. When she caught sight of Mykale through the drive-through window, she froze. "I told my husband, 'Look at him. He is working. Oh my God. He has his medals,' " she says. Moved by seeing Mykale fresh out of his graduation to prepare the customers' orders, Mendoza took out her cellphone and recorded him for several seconds before stopping when he turned around. 'I dropped the phone," says Mendoza, "and my daughter, who was in the backseat, was like, 'Mom, what are you doing? You're so weird.' " The next evening, Mendoza shared the clip of Mykale on TikTok and then went to sleep. 'When I woke up, I was just blown away,' she says. As of Friday, June 6, the TikTok has generated over 4.4 million views. It was her daughter Jazmine who suggested setting up an online fundraiser on Mykale's behalf. 'So I decided to put a GoFundMe to pay for his college tuition,' she says. (As of Friday, June 6, that GoFundMe has raised over $200,000.) Mendoza later stopped at the Burger King and asked for Mykale's contact information from his coworkers so she could tell him the news. They declined to give it to her, so she left them her phone number to pass it on to him. Twenty hours passed and Mendoza had not heard from Mykale. With the donations to the GoFundMe continuing to pour in, Mendoza went back to the Burger King to speak with Mykale's manager. The manager then called Mykale and told him to come to the restaurant. ''I need you to come right now. This is life changing. Please, I beg you. Come right now,' ' the manager said, according to Mendoza. Fifteen minutes later, Mykale and his mother entered the Burger King and Mendoza told them what happened. Upon hearing the news, an emotional Mykale hugged his mother and Mendoza. 'Honestly, when she told me about the video, I was surprised,' Mykale says. 'But when she showed me the GoFundMe, I was like, 'Wow. I might go to college now.' Mykale says that he was originally planning to take a gap year or join the Army so he could pay for college. Now with the money raised for him, he has set his sights on Gwinnett Technical College. And that's not the end of his good fortune: after hearing about Mykale's story, Burger King and the Burger King Foundation awarded Mykale with a $10,000 scholarship. They also offered Mendoza's daughter Daizie with $10,000 scholarship as well. 'This story is about more than a viral moment. It's a testament to hard work, generosity, and the incredible ripple effect of doing the right thing," Burger King tells PEOPLE in a statement. Mendoza feels proud to be able to help Mykale achieve his dream. 'It brings me so much joy,' she adds. 'I'm smiling and laughing because I'm overjoyed of what's going on with Mykale. Now he's part of my life, and I'm part of his life, and his mom said we're family. I've gained a new family. I just feel so blessed." Meanwhile, Mykale is still working at the Burger King, but now he's a manager — and his life has changed because of the viral moment. 'I'm very grateful that she actually did this,' he says of Mendoza. 'It opened eyes up for me to see that now that she did this for me, that I return this favor and pay it forward to somebody else.' Elon Musk Walks Back Threat to Decommission SpaceX's Dragon Spacecraft amid Ongoing Trump Feud

Elon Musk appears to have walked back a threat to decommission SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft amid his ongoing feud with President Donald Trump The comment was made after Trump had threatened to pull the billionaire's government contracts and subsidies In June 2024, NASA awarded SpaceX a $843 million contract to help deorbit the ISS, which will see the end of its operational life in 2030Elon Musk threatened to decommission SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft amid his feud with President Donald Trump, but seemingly has already walked back that claim. Tensions between the SpaceX CEO and the 47th president of the United States escalated on Thursday, June 5, just days after Musk announced he was departing the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). On Tuesday, June 3, Musk criticized Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" on X, calling it a 'massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill' and 'a disgusting abomination.' Trump shot back at Musk in a post shared Thursday on Truth Social, saying 'the easiest way' for the U.S. government to save money is to "terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts.' Musk rebutted on X a short time later. 'In light of the President's statement about cancellation of my government contracts, @SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately,' he wrote. A few hours later, however, Musk appeared to walk back his comment after a user by the name of 'Fab25june' suggested the SpaceX founder 'cool off and take a step back for a couple of days.' 'Good advice,' Musk replied. 'Ok, we won't decommission Dragon.' The Dragon spacecraft has completed more than 50 missions, including 46 visits to the International Space Station (ISS), according to its website. According to SpaceX, the ship 'is capable of carrying up to 7 passengers to and from Earth orbit, and beyond' and 'is the only spacecraft currently flying that is capable of returning significant amounts of cargo to Earth, and is the first private spacecraft to take humans to the space station.' In June 2024, NASA announced SpaceX was awarded a $843 million contract to help deorbit the ISS, which will see the end of its operational life in 2030. Bethany Stevens, NASA press secretary, said in a statement on X that "NASA will continue to execute upon the President's vision for the future of space. We will continue to work with our industry partners to ensure the President's objectives in space are met." Neither the White House nor SpaceX responded to PEOPLE's requests for comment.
