NSA Doval, Chinese FM Wang Yi Review Recent Developments In India-China Ties
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Tuesday and reviewed recent developments in India-China relations and underscored the need to promote the overall development of the bilateral ties, including by fostering greater people-to-people ties.
During the meeting on Monday, NSA Doval emphasised the need to counter terrorism in all its forms and manifestations to maintain peace and stability in the region. The two leaders also spoke about other bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest, according to the statement shared by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
In a statement shared on X, MEA official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, "NSA Ajit Doval met Chinese FM Wang Yi in Beijing today. Discussions focused on bilateral, regional & international issues of mutual interest."
Doval is on a visit to China to attend the 20th Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Security Council Secretaries.
In a statement, MEA stated, "NSA noted that he looked forward to meeting with Mr. Wang Yi in India at a mutually convenient date for the 24th round of the Special Representative (SR) Talks."
On June 12, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong in Delhi during the latter's two-day visit to India from June 12-13, 2025, the MEA said in a statement.
According to the MEA, the two sides reviewed developments in India-China bilateral relations since their last meeting in Beijing on January 27, 2025, and agreed to continue efforts to stabilise and rebuild ties with a focus on people-centric engagements.
Foreign Secretary Misri appreciated the Chinese side's cooperation in facilitating the resumption of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra this year. He also referred to the discussions during the April 2025 meeting of the Expert Level Mechanism on transboundary rivers and expressed hope for progress on the resumption of hydrological data sharing and other areas of cooperation.
The two sides agreed to expedite the steps involved in resuming direct air services between the two countries. The Foreign Secretary also hoped for the early conclusion of an updated Air Services Agreement. The MEA further noted that both sides agreed to take practical steps for visa facilitation and promote exchanges between media and think tanks.

Operation Sindhu: IAF evacuates 165 Indians from Jordan amid Israel-Iran conflict
New Delhi [India], June 24 (ANI): A total of 165 Indian nationals were evacuated by the Indian Air Force under Operation Sindhu from Jordan, in an effort to get citizens back home safe amid the Israel-Iran conflict. The IAF's C-17 aircraft landed in Delhi today morning, and the passengers were welcomed by Minister of State L Murugan. The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, informed about the flight in a post on X, adding, 'An IAF C-17 flight evacuated 165 Indian nationals from Israel under Operation Sindhu. They were received by MoS Dr. L. Murugan upon arrival in Delhi. The aircraft landed at 0845 hrs on 24th June from Amman (Jordan).' Earlier, while talking about the arrival of the evacuees in Delhi's Palam airport, the IAF said that there are going to be missions in Egypt too. 'In response to heightened tensions in conflict-affected areas in West Asia, IAF C-17 aircraft commenced missions from Jordan and Egypt to extricate Indian nationals and citizens of friendly countries. The IAF remains committed as first responders to provide assistance within the country and across the globe in times of need,' the Air Force said in a post on X. 'Today, the second aircraft from Israel came here, almost 165 passengers have landed here, we welcome them, the passengers are from 22 states, they are all students and doing various work. Our priority and Prime Minister Modi's priority is that wherever the war situation is there and our Indian diaspora people are stuck, the priority is to work to bring them in safely,' L Murugan told ANI while receiving the passengers. Some of the passengers expressed how their experience of evacuation was quite good, with the Indian embassy in Jordan helping a lot to ensure that the people reached home. 'The Indian government helped us a lot. For evacuation, we travelled to the Indian embassy in Jordan, even the embassy helped us a lot, overall a good half an hour before we left our place, there were sirens, bombings happening. Even when we reached the border of Israel, it was happening,' one of the passengers, who had been evacuated with her daughter and husband, told ANI. Earlier today, under Operation Sindhu, as many as 161 Indian nationals arrived in Delhi from Israel, with Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, welcoming them at the airport. Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the Israel leg of Operation Sindhu started on June 23. Jaiswal emphasised that the safety and security of Indian nationals abroad remain the government's highest priority. The conflict between Israel and Iran began on June 13 when the former launched a massive airstrike on Iranian military and nuclear sites, code-named 'Operation Rising Lion'. In retaliation, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) initiated a large-scale drone and missile campaign called 'Operation True Promise 3', targeting Israeli fighter jet fuel production facilities and energy supply centres. Tensions escalated further after the US conducted precision airstrikes early Sunday morning on three key Iranian nuclear facilities under 'Operation Midnight Hammer'. India donates 1000 metric tonnes of rice and essential medicines to Cameroon
Yaounde [Cameroon], June 24 (ANI): India handed over 1000 metric tonnes of rice and essential medicines to Cameroon. Cameroon's Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, and India's High Commissioner to Cameroon, Vijay Khanduja, presided over the ceremony on Monday to hand over rice and essential medicines. The Indian High Commission in Cameroon noted that this humanitarian gesture aims to support victims of floods that struck Cameroon's far north region in 2024. According to the statement, India, through this humanitarian support, reaffirmed its role as a reliable partner to Cameroon during challenging times and strengthened cooperation among nations of the Global South. In a post shared on Facebook, the Indian High Commission in Cameroon stated, 'Strengthening Friendship and Solidarity. A Handing-Over Ceremony was held in Yaounde today to officially mark the donation of 1,000 metric tonnes of rice and essential medicines from the Government of the Republic of India to the Government of the Republic of Cameroon. The ceremony was jointly presided over by H.E. Paul Atanga Niji, Minister of Territorial Administration of Cameroon, and H.E. Shri Vijay Khanduja, High Commissioner of India to Cameroon.' 'This humanitarian gesture is aimed at supporting victims of the devastating floods that struck the Far North Region of Cameroon in 2024, reflecting India's solidarity with the people of Cameroon during times of need. Through this humanitarian support, India reaffirms its role as a reliable partner to Cameroon during challenging times and strengthening cooperation among nations of the Global South,' it added. Earlier in April, India sent a consignment of 1,000 metric tonnes of rice to Cameroon. Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the effort is in the spirit of a committed partnership with the Global South. In a post on X, Jaiswal stated, 'India: A committed partner to the Global South. India sends food-grain assistance for the people of Cameroon. A consignment of 1000MT Rice departed today from Nhava Sheva Port to Cameroon.' Notably, India and Cameroon have friendly and cordial relations dating back to the latter's independence in 1960. India opened its resident High Commission in Yaounde in 2019. Earlier, in 2009, a USD 37.65 million Indian Line of Credit (LoC) for Cameroon, funding a project each of Rice and Maize Farm Plantation, was operationalised, and this project was completed in 2017, according to the Indian High Commission in Cameroon's statement. India has been supporting Cameroon's efforts in Capacity building under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Program since 1964. The Indian government also provides over 180 ITEC slots annually for capacity building in Cameroon. Three slots have been allocated to Cameroon under the Africa Scholarship Scheme of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). (ANI)
