Andre Johnson loses Hall of Fame ring to burglars
Via Michael Shapiro of the Houston Chronicle, Hall of Fame receiver Andre Johnson recently was victimized by burglars. Among other things, his Hall of Fame ring was stolen.
'Andre Johnson is my brother,' rapper and Houston native Lil Keke said on Instagram. 'He's the first Houston Texan Hall of Famer. He dedicated his life here, his career here, and also he resides here as a Houstonian — that makes it much, much more important. Man, we family and this is a family message. Over the weekend somebody broke into my brother's home, took some items that represent his legacy, represent his dedication, his hard work, his family. We need to recover that and get that back.'
The investigation is ongoing.
Last year, a crime ring targeted multiple pro athletes, entering their residences when they were away for games. Eventually justice caught up with them.
Whether justice catches up with those who stole Johnson's Hall of Fame ring remains to be seen. It would probably be better for police to get them first. If Johnson finds them, they may end up experiencing the Cortland Finnegan treatment.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson already looking to switch numbers following John Metchie trade
While C.J. Gardner-Johnson will miss calling John Metchie a teammate, he now has a clear shot to finally switch his jersey number. The newest member of the Houston Texans' secondary reacted to the news of Metchie's trade to the Philadelphia Eagles by making sure that people weren't investing in his No. 23 jersey since it's clear he'll be making a switch in the coming days. Gardner-Johnson posted on X an emoji of an 8-ball, which is supposed to a sign that he'll change to number back to No. 8, which Metchie wore for three seasons after donning the jersey at the University of Alabama. And yes, Gardner-Johnson is making the switch. In his first press conference with the Texans, the do-it-all defensive back tried to figure out a way to get his No. 8 jersey then. A second-round pick out of Alabama, Metchie reunites with 2020 national championship teammate DeVonta Smith and should compete for reps in the slot. He missed his entire rookie season while battling leukemia after the Texans selected him in a trade-up following his breakout season with the Crimson Tide in 2021. Entering a contract year, Metchie's totaled 40 career receptions for 412 yards and a touchdown in 29 games. This preseason, he was leading all Texans receivers with six catches for 53 yards. As for newcomer Harrison Bryant, the former John Mackey Award winner has totaled 98 career receptions for 877 yards and 10 touchdowns between his time with the Cleveland Browns and Las Vegas Raiders. He signed a one-year contract this offseason with the Eagles and was expected to compete for the No. 3 tight end role, which should be the same for him in Houston now with Brevin Jordan out for the season with a lower-body injury. Gardner-Johnson, who is currently dealing with a knee injury suffered last week at The Greenbrier, likely won't debut the No. 8 jersey until Week 2 or 3 in the regular season.

The Eagles announced Jenkins' induction to their Hall of Fame, per The Athletic's Zach Betman. 'Malcolm Jenkins will be inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame this season, the team announced,' Betman reported. Jenkins joins 49 players who have been inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame. He finished with 406 tackles and 11 interceptions in six seasons with the Eagles. After spending his first five seasons with the New Orleans Saints, Jenkins joined Philadelphia in 2014, where he spent his prime years and was named to three Pro Bowl teams. He helped the Eagles win two Super Bowl victories in 2009 and 2017. Jason Kelce drops humble admission on Eagles Hall of Fame Eagles center Jason Kelce put a bow on his NFL career in 2023. As the five-time Pro Bowler who helped the Eagles win a Super Bowl title in 2017, Kelce talked about the NFL Hall of Fame and the likelihood of being honored sometime soon. Kelce humbly addressed the Hall of Fame, per the Exciting Mics podcast with Eagles running backs Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship. 'It will be weird to be honest with you. And I think it's weird because I don't even think I'm the best player that I've played with in the NFL,' Kelce said. 'Even on the offensive line. Jason Peters, Lane Johnson, Brandon Brooks, they're all better players than I ever was.' Kelce couldn't envision himself on the same level as some of his teammates during his time with the Eagles.
