Netflix's 'Alice in Borderland' Season 3 Lands Sept Release And First Trailer

Geek Culture08-07-2025
After three long years, fans are finally heading back to the Borderlands once more, as Netflix has set the premiere date for Season 3 of the hit Japanese live-action death game thriller Alice in Borderland , unveiling its first teaser trailer ahead of its release on 25 September 2025.
Beware, spoilers for the first two seasons of Alice in Borderland ahead. Based on Haro Aso's 2015 manga of the same name, the third season will continue the story of Arisu (Kento Yamazaki, Kingdom ) and Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya, Rurouni Kenshin ) as they are drawn back into the dangerous limbo world known as the Borderland. After escaping death at the end of season two, the pair enjoy a seemingly peaceful married life, until a mysterious afterlife researcher, Ryuji (Kento Kaku, Like a Dragon: Yakuza ), abducts Usagi, forcing Arisu back into the Borderland to save her.
The trailer also depicts the final uncleared card, the Joker, which will most likely play a central role in Season 3's plot. Glimpses of new death games were also shown, including ones involving fire arrows and deadly electrical currents, no doubt thrusting Arisu and Usagi, alongside other unfortunate souls, into the thick of an all-out battle for survival that promises to be much larger in scale than the first two seasons.
Joining the returning cast of characters are Banda (Hayato Isomura), Ann (Ayaka Miyoshi) and Yaba (Katsuya Maiguma). Season 3 will also introduce a bunch of new faces, including Koji Ohkura, Risa Sudou, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Tina Tamashiro, Kotaro Daigo, Hyunri, Sakura Kiryu, Yugo Mikawa, Joey Iwanaga and Akana Ikeda.
Season 3 will be directed once again by Shinsuke Sato, who also penned its script with Yasuko Kuramitsu. The creative team is rounded off by composer Yutaka Yamada, cinematographer Taro Kawazu, production designers Iwao Saito and Shin Nakayama, and VFX supervisor Atsushi Doi.
Is escape in the cards once again for Arisu and Usagi? All will become clear when Alice in Borderland Season 3 premieres on Netflix on 25 September 2025.

Sony Animation's 'KPop Demon Hunters' Rises To Netflix's Most-Watched Original Animated Film Of All Time

It seems slaying charts and demons is no longer a thing of fiction for Sony Animation. The studio's surprise animated hit, Kpop Demon Hunters , has become the most-watched original film in Netflix history after achieving two major milestones: topping the streamer's chart in 41 countries in its opening week and reclaiming the No. 1 spot in its fourth week of release. More impressively, the movie continued to enjoy a rise in viewership during a time when it would typically be on a decline, chalking up another 26.3 million views for the period of 21 to 27 July and marking its sixth week in the top 10 charts. As of the time of writing, it now stands at No. 2 globally on the English Film list, behind the Adam Sandler-starring pic Happy Gilmore 2 . 'It's the moment! KPop Demon Hunters is Netflix's most-watched original animated film of ALL TIME,' reads the official announcement post on X/Twitter. The catchy music used in and written for the musical adventure is also holding its reign across various charts. 'Kpop Demon Hunters' is the highest-charting soundtrack of 2025 so far, with the majority of its songs currently on the Billboard Hot 100, including the first-place 'Golden' and 'Takedown', the opening number performed by popular girl group Twice's Jeongyeon, Chaeyeong, and Jihyo. Directed by Maggie Kang, who was head of story for The Lego Ninjago Movie , Kpop Demon Hunters centres on a fictional K-pop girl group, HUNTR/X (pronounced 'Huntrix'), who lead double lives as demon hunters, and face off against a rival boy band called Saja Boys, whose members are secretly demons. While primarily in English, it includes Korean dialogue and cultural nods, including dokkaebi, or goblins, the jeoseung saja, the Korean equivalent of the grim reaper (and the inspiration behind Saja Boys), and real-world locations like Namsan Park. Arden Cho ( Teen Wolf ), May Hong ( High Maintenance ), and Ji-young Yoo ( Moxie ) lead the voice cast as vocalist and overall leader Rumi, visual-slash-main-dancer Mira, and rapper Zoey, respectively. The trio are joined by other notable industry faces, such as Squid Game star Lee Byung-hun as antagonist Gwi-ma, actor-singer Ahn Hyo-seop ( Business Proposal ) as Jinu, leader of the Saja Boys, Daniel Dae Kim ( Hawaii Five-O ) as Healer Han, and Ken Jeong ( Crazy Rich Asians ) as Bobby, the manager and main representative of HUNTR/X. Renowned K-pop producer Teddy Park contributed to the soundtrack with his work on 'Golden', Soda Pop', and more, while previous songs like Exo's 'Love Me Right', Twice's 'Strategy, and MeloMance's 'Love Maybe', which most would recognise from the Korean drama Business Proposal , were also featured in the film. The popularity of KPop Demon Hunters caught the world by storm, owing to striking visuals, an interesting premise, and a blend of humour and emotional moments. It has been well-received by audiences and critics alike, scoring 97 per cent critic score and 92 per cent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 7.7 average rating on IMDb. Rotten Tomatoes describes its story as follows: 'When they aren't selling out stadiums, K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey use their secret identities as badass demon hunters to protect their fans from an ever-present supernatural threat,' a description of the film from Rotten Tomatoes reads. 'Together, they must face their biggest enemy yet — an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise.' 'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle' Shatters Record For Fastest Film To Hit ¥10 Billion In Japan

Nothing can stand in the way of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle , as it continues to take the Japanese box office by storm. Following a record-breaking opening haul at the domestic box office, the anime pic has grossed 12.8 billion yen (US$87.1 million) in its first 10 days, becoming the fastest film to cross 10 billion yen (US$67.4 million) in the country. The previous record holder was held by 2020's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie –Infinity Train , which is also currently the top-grossing film of all time in Japan after 73 days at the box office. Of a listed total earnings of 40.43 billion yen (US$273 million) domestically, 4.6 billion yen (US$43.85 million at the time) came from its first three days, including 1.2 billion yen (US$12.03 million at the time) from the opening day alone. In comparison, Infinity Castle earned 5.5 billion (US$37.38 million) yen in its first three days and racked up 7.3 billion yen (US$49.50 million) over a four-day long weekend. It's a very strong start for the first film in a planned trilogy, with its opening week soaring way past expectations, but the success was already mapped out since the beginning. The trailer debut registered more than 40 million views within 24 hours on official social media platforms, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle now holds three major all-time records: the highest opening performance, the biggest first-day earnings, and the strongest single-day box office in Japanese film history. Releasing on 14 August in Singapore, it picks up after the finale of the fourth anime season, when Muzan Kibutsuji (Toshihiko Seki / Greg Chun) traps Tanjiro Kamado (Natsuki Hanae / Zach Aguliar) and his companions of the Demon Slayer Corps inside his fortress, the Infinity Castle, where a decisive battle between the Demon Slayers and Muzan's subordinates, the Upper Moons, kicks off. Infinity Train 's Haruo Sotozaki is directing the movie at returning studio ufotable, with Aimer and LiSA performing the songs 'Taiyō ga Noboranai Sekai' ('A World Where the Sun Never Rises') and 'Zankoku no Yoru ni Kagayake' ('Shine in the Cruel Night'), respectively. It will screen in IMAX and both Japanese with English subtitles, as well as in English dub. The fourth movie in the lineup serves more as a feature-length multi-film adaptation like Mugen Train instead of the Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training compilation films, and is set to adapt the first part of the final arc of Koyoharu Gotoge's manga. It opens in theatres on 14 August. Si Jia is a casual geek at heart – or as casual as someone with Sephiroth's theme on her Spotify playlist can get.
