Odisha horror: Two separate rape cases of minor girls lodged in Malkangiri; rape victim delivers stillborn
According to Additional SP Rashmiranjan Senapati, the first incident occurred on July 20 in a village under Orkel police station.
A 50-year-old man allegedly offered a girl a lift while she was on her way to her uncle's house and instead took her to a forested area where he raped her.
The survivor informed her family the following day. After villagers failed to act, her uncle filed a police complaint on Saturday.
'As the villagers could not take any action, I took the matter to the police,' he said in the complaint.
The accused was arrested the next day, police confirmed.
The second incident was reported from the Mudulipada police station area.
According to police, the survivor had allegedly been raped since 2024. The case surfaced after she gave birth to a stillborn baby at a government hospital. Following a complaint by her family, the accused was arrested.
Earlier on July 20, another shocking case emerged from the district where a girl was gang-raped twice within hours first by three men and later by a truck driver who found her in distress.

Vandals smash 12 vehicles, click selfies in Mauli Jagran, residents in a state of shock
1 2 Chandigarh: At least 12 vehicles, including both two-wheelers and four-wheelers parked outside homes in Mauli Jagran complex, were vandalised by a group of miscreants in the early hours of Tuesday. CCTV footage from the area shows 5-7 individuals armed with sharp-edged weapons damaging vehicles and striking their doors around 1.30 am. Another resident, Sompal, reported that the side windows of his Tata Nexon were smashed without any provocation. In one clip, when the group began attacking a white Swift car, one of the accused, holding an axe, removed his shirt and hung it on his shoulder. A brief argument broke out between him and another accomplice when he tried to stop his partner from further damaging the car. Residents are in a state of shock and fear following the incident. Many said they have no personal enmity with anyone and believe the attack was unprovoked. They also alleged that several individuals involved are drug addicts and that group clashes, assaults, and thefts are common in the area. In response, they have demanded increased police patrolling during nighttime hours to curb such incidents. After receiving information about the vandalism, Maulijagran police reached the scene, recorded victim statements, and began identifying suspects using CCTV footage. Police have assured that all accused will be arrested soon.

Five members of interstate cyber gang held from Delhi
1 2 Prayagraj: Cyber cell police of Prayagraj on Wednesday arrested five members of an interstate gang from Delhi that was allegedly involved in duping gullible people of over Rs 28.62 lakh by putting them under 'digital arrest'. Those arrested were Kaustubh Gupta of Jalaun, Bhanu Saini of Saharanpur, Anurag of Delhi, Shani Jha of Kanpur and Himanshu Kumar of Etawah. Cops also seized seven mobiles, three SUVs, including one Range Rover and one Mercedes Benz, one ATM card, 14 SIMs, one POS machine, and five cheque books from their possession. Five members of the gang were earlier arrested from different parts of the country. Police said the fraudsters contacted the victims under the guise of FedEx International Courier agents and claimed that a parcel going from Mumbai to Iran having drugs has been seized. They further claimed the parcel had their IDs and even terrorists were operating using their IDs. In the next step, a person posing as Crime Branch officer would talk over Skype platform and extort money. During interrogation, fraudsters revealed that they were connected to cyber thugs in countries like Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Thailand etc through Telegram. Their nexus worked in two modes.
