Di Canio Blasts Penalty Decision In Inter Milan 2-2 Lazio Serie A Thriller: 'It's A Foul 10/10 Times In Midfield' – Adds 'Lazio Penalty Is Stonewall'
Paolo Di Canio feels that a Nicolo Rovella shove on Yann Bisseck in Inter Milan's 2-2 Serie A draw with Lazio should've been a penalty.
The former striker gave his thoughts on Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908. He argued that it was a foul 'ten times out of ten' in midfield, and also said that the Lazio penalty was 'stonewall.'

Inter Milan's Serie A clash with Lazio this evening was filled with drama.
And among this was plenty of refereeing controversy.
Both of Lazio's goals came after a VAR check. The first was initially disallowed for an offside in the buildup before the video showed that it was in fact offside.
Meanwhile, Inter conceded a penalty very late on for a Yann Bisseck handball. However, referee Daniele Chiffi did not spot the infringement in real time, needing a second luck after consulting with VAR.

Meanwhile, there were a couple big moments inside the Lazio penalty area.

Firstly, there was a moment in the first half when Biancocelesti midfielder Nicolo Rovella looked to have shoved over Inter defender Yann Bisseck as he was charging into the area.
Bisseck furiously appealed for a penalty. However, referee Chiffi waved the appeals away. And VAR did not intervene.
Meanwhile, Inter also briefly thought that they'd scored the most dramatic of late winners.
However, a VAR check confirmed that Marko Arnautovic was in an offside position.
Of the first half incident, former striker Paolo Di Canio commented that 'Rovella's push on Bisseck in midfield is a free kick.'
'So why is it not a penalty when it's in the area? I ask myself.'

'If it's a foul, it's a foul,' Di Canio argued.
'In midfield, ten referees out of ten would give that as a foul.'
Then, Paolo Di Canio argued that 'the penalty for Lazio is stonewall, as clear as it gets.'
'He makes himself bigger with his arm,' the former striker argued.
'It's Bisseck's attitude that's wrong. You have to know how to act in terms of defensive tactics, that arm can't be there. Why does Bisseck make that jump?'

Como boss Cesc Fabregas rejects Bayer Leverkusen move

Serie A side Como faced the threat of losing Cesc Fabregas but the Spaniard has now rejected the chance to join Bayer Leverkusen. La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Como have informed the German side that they see Fabregas as an unsellable entity and he will stay at the club this summer. Advertisement There was previously a meeting involving Fabregas and the Bayer Leverkusen management, with the Spaniard having considered the move at one point. But he has now decided to stay at Como and honour his current contract. The ex-Arsenal player has now understood that Como are ambitious and want to operate at the highest level. So much so that he is already looking at potential targets for the summer, with Barcelona's Eric Garcia a target. Bryan Cristante is also a target and Deportivo's Yeremay Hernandez is also liked by the club. Como want to back Fabregas as much as they can in the summer. Kaustubh Pandey I GIFN

Chaos at San Siro: Milan sack Conceicao after European miss as Allegri return looms

Chaos at San Siro: Milan sack Conceicao after European miss as Allegri return looms AC Milan have parted company with head coach Sergio Conceicao after just half a season in charge. The 50-year-old Portuguese manager took the reins in December, replacing Paulo Fonseca, who lasted only six months himself. Advertisement Conceicao's dismissal comes after Milan finished a dismal eighth in Serie A, missing out on European qualification for the 2025-26 season. His tenure began with promise, notably lifting the Supercoppa Italiana after a dramatic 3-2 win over Inter in January. However, results quickly unravelled. Milan were knocked out of the Champions League play-off round by Feyenoord the following month, and fell short in the Coppa Italia final, losing to Bologna. The club confirmed his departure with a brief statement thanking Conceicao and his staff for their efforts and professionalism. They also acknowledged his role in delivering Milan's 50th major trophy, but the achievement was not enough to secure his long-term future. Advertisement Conceicao had previously enjoyed significant success at Porto, winning 11 trophies in six years, but was unable to replicate that consistency in Italy. His sacking continues a turbulent period at Milan, who also dismissed Scudetto-winning coach Stefano Pioli last summer. RedBird Capital's ownership has come under intense scrutiny from supporters during this chaotic spell. Before their final Serie A match of the season, thousands of Milan ultras marched from Casa Milan to San Siro in protest. Fans unveiled banners and spelled out the words 'Go Home' in the Curva Sud, demanding that owner Gerry Cardinale sell his stake in the club. Advertisement There were also chants in support of former captain Paolo Maldini, sacked as a director last year, and the late Silvio Berlusconi, who oversaw the club's golden era. The unrest off the pitch has mirrored the instability on it. Since winning the Serie A title in 2022, Milan have managed just one trophy — this season's Supercoppa — in three years. Reports in Italy suggest former boss Massimiliano Allegri, recently dismissed by Juventus, could return to San Siro. Meanwhile, the club have appointed ex-Lazio sporting director Igli Tare to help steer a new course. Conceicao departs with only six wins in his final 17 league matches, leaving Milan at a crossroads once again.
