Abusive discourse in public life should be rejected: Kavitha
Telangana needs fresh faces of active leadership rooted in values and cultural identity and not abusive discourse, she said while addressing - Leader, political leadership training programme organised by Telangana Jagruti for its cadre.
'Abusing and swearing at others has become a fashion. But those who resort to abuse are often those without real content,' she said underlining the need for sharp criticism without being disrespectful.
Stating that the organisation is committed to grooming future leaders, she said leadership doesn't come from birth or position but from learning, changing, and moving forward. She also criticised YouTubers and influencers who, she alleged, thrive on negativity for views.
Ms. Kavitha also stressed the importance of cultural identity in State-building.
'No nation can survive without a cultural foundation. Telangana has a strong cultural heritage, and Telangana Jagruti has fought for its preservation, be it language, dialect, festivals like Bathukamma and Bonalu', she said.
She reminded that Mahatma Gandhi was never an MLA or MP, yet he is remembered across generations as he used positive thoughts as weapons for Independence. A modern reinterpretation of Gandhian philosophy, which balances peace with self-respect, is the need of the hour, she said.

Cong's ‘Urban Gandhian' To Counter BJP's ‘Urban Naxal'
Nagpur: After Congress state president Harshvardhan Sapkal said he is an 'urban Gandhian', chief minister Devendra Fadnavis , who was in Wardha on Monday, said he has no issues with anyone calling themselves 'Urban Gandhians', and he in fact welcomes this. Sapkal's statement had been in response to BJP's allegations that 'urban naxals' have infiltrated many Gandhian institutions. Earlier, CM Devendra Fadnavis also said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is surrounded by people who have extreme left ideological leanings, taking the urban naxal jibe further. Fadnavis, on Monday, said, "I am happy to hear that he (Sapkal) realised that he is an urban Gandhian. We have no issues. We welcome urban and rural Gandhians." A few days ago, Sapkal said, "I am an urban Gandhian. I am also an urban Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar follower." The urban Gandhian mention was specifically targeted at an accusation made by BJP MLA Sumit Wandkhede that urban naxals have infiltrated Gandhian organisations based in Wardha. The district is home to Mahatma Gandhi's Sevagram Ashram. Fadnavis said that while not everybody can be labelled as an urban naxal, there were some specific inputs which led to these allegations being made. "In the recent past, some events were held here. And some organisations which were part of the event are known to have urban naxal connections, as per police records. So, while Sevagram Ashram is open to all, and that's the way it should always be, caution has to be taken," said Fadnavis. Some Congress party members from Nagpur shared their photo from Sevagram Ashram on social media with comments like 'I am Urban Gandhian', thus taking the war of words to the social media space.

People will teach ruling Congress a lesson in local body elections: KTR
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and Sircilla MLA K.T. Rama Rao has alleged that the 20-months rule of the Congress in Telangana was marred by 'unkept promises' and 'empty rhetoric'. 'People will teach a fitting lesson to the ruling Congress in the next local body elections for betraying all sections of society,' he said while addressing the party cadre at Telangana Bhavan in Siricilla town of Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, Mr. Rao addressed a series of meetings with party functionaries in Ellanthakunta, Thangallapalli and Boinpalli mandals to gear up the party cadre for the upcoming local body polls. Mr. Rao lambasted the Congress government saying the villages across the State are grappling with a multitude of problems under the current dispensation. Villages had won awards at the national level during the previous BRS government, he said, adding that the villages are now facing a predicament unable to buy even diesel for tractors in the Gram Panchayats. A host of promises made by the Congress to women, girls, farmers, unemployed youths and other sections remained unfulfilled till date, he charged, calling upon the party cadre to expose the 'false promises', 'hollow claims' on BC quota, and 'misrule' of the Congress dispensation.
