Oasis's photographer opens new exhibition
From Oasis's early concerts to the height of their powers, she was granted unprecedented access to chronicle one of rock and roll's most creative yet combustible bands.
And now the woman dubbed 'Oasis's unofficial official photographer' has a new exhibition of her pictures at the Lucy Bell Gallery in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, which runs until the end of September.
Entitled Oasis 1994-2009, it coincides with the ongoing and much-hyped reunion of the Manchester group Furmanovsky admits to "having loved since the start".
She said: "The first time I saw them was at the Cambridge Corn Exchange in 1994.
"I found them very intriguing because there was tremendous excitement at the concert, almost hysteria.
"Yet when the singer wasn't singing he'd just sit on the drum riser.
"It was most peculiar and yet the atmosphere was electric, so I was intrigued."
Furmanovsky's next assignment was photographing the band as they worked on the video for their single Live Forever.
"They were respectful to me because I had photographed a lot of their heroes," she said.
"I think Noel had an instinct that he needed someone to document what was happening."
And from her unique viewpoint Furmanovsky captured the band's highs and lows, including a tension-filled photo shoot in Paris.
"On the day when we were supposed to meet up and do the shoot Liam couldn't be found in the hotel," she said.
"It transpired he hadn't gone to bed that night and had been in the bar drinking.
"I had to send in an assistant to go and fetch him and he still had a glass of wine in his hand when we went off in the bus.
"Noel was not in a good mood at that point."
And, while Oasis would play giant concerts at Glastonbury and Knebworth, they eventually split in acrimony in 2009.
Last August though, Noel and Liam announced Oasis were getting back together, revealing details of a major UK tour this summer.
Furmanovsky said: "I'm thrilled, the same as any fan.
"They've kept their souls and their integrity as artists, and I think that's what people respond to."
She added she will be at the band's upcoming Wembley Stadium concerts.

Billie Eilish's Debut Album Hits Half A Decade On The Charts
Billie Eilish recently wrapped the U.K. leg of her Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour. The superstar singer-songwriter played six nights at The O2 Arena in London and then headed to Manchester before moving on to Ireland, and soon, Asia. Around her visit to the U.K., Eilish's entire catalog surged on the charts in that country. Now that all the excitement has faded, all three of her full lengths are on the decline, but one of her earliest projects hits a special landmark number, even as it slips. Made Billie Eilish a Star By the time Eilish released When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? in 2019, she was already one of the most talked-about newcomers in the music industry — even though she was only a teenager. The company's first release, The Healing, will be available this October 7 and star Alyona Mitroshina as 'a woman who flees her abusive husband for a mysterious retreat with friends, where surreal rituals and haunting visions reveal dark secrets.' October 14 will see the release of 'a mix of Terminator and I Spit on Your Grave starring Daria Panchenko as an erotic film star who transforms into a vengeful cyborg,' co-starring William Prociuk, Magui Bravi, and Sofía Gala Castiglione. The company's October 21 release, Holy Mother, stars Eihi Shiina as 'a silent trans woman fighting a brutal organization with chainsaws, lasers, and non-stop carnage.' Intriguingly, Variety also has word that Richard Stanley (Hardware, The Color Out of Space) has been hired to write the third entry in the killer Winnie the Pooh franchise, Blood & Honey. During a recent episode of Deadline's Crew Call podcast, Wednesday showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar revealed they're working on a new, animated Addams Family movie unrelated to either Wednesday or the 2019 and 2021 films. We're working on it with Amazon MGM and with Kevin Miserocchi who runs the Addams Foundation, he knew Charles Addams and the keeper of the Addams flame, and with Gail Berman and John Glickman. We're rebooting the animated film franchise. So it won't have anything to do with the two films before it, nor is it connected with this show. It will be a brand new Addams feature. There's not really much we can say about it, because it's in the very early stages. Speaking with Den of Geek, Jeffrey Wright said he has yet to read the script for The Batman, Part II, but has 'heard some things' and 'respects [Matt] Reeves' Gotham-building skills.' I haven't read it yet, no. But I've heard some things. I'm liking what I'm hearing. And I have huge respect for Matt's Gotham-building skills. Fangoria has a new poster and synopsis for Steven Kostanski's Deathstalker remake. The Kingdom of Abraxeon lies under siege by the Dreadites, who are looking to resucitate the long-dead sorcerer Nekromemnon, which would spell Abraxeon's annihilation.
