'My friend picked Kim Kardashian-inspired names for triplets and I'm cringing'
A woman has shared the 'cringy' names her friend is giving to her triplet boys - and says she took inspiration from Kim Kardashian when coming up with one of the monikers
A woman has been left cringing with embarrassment after hearing what her friend wants to name her triplets. She shared how her friend has taken inspiration from Kim Kardashian when naming her three boys while ensuring their names 'flow' with one another.
Taking to Reddit, she said: "My friend is having triplet boys later this year, and when I went to visit her, I asked her what names she had in mind. She said she's set on these three names - Bishop, Deacon and Pope." However, she is now changing Bishop to Saint as she has fallen in love with him after Kim Kardashian named her son Saint.
She added: "I looked at her in utter shock, and I didn't even bother to ask for the middle names."
Commenting on the monikers, one user said: "Deacon wouldn't be too bad by itself, but Pope is completely unhinged, omg. Just pick classic Bible names like normal people."
Another user added: "Bishop reminds me of the Marvel hero, and Deacon is a pretty obscure reference that only Catholics would get. Honestly it's the kid named Pope that ruins it."
A third user said: "Tragic and tragedy… there are so many nice normal names that are related to her religion too."
One more user added: "These names would be illegal in my country and she would be told it was denied and to think of something else." Another user said: "Saint is going to be the favourite."
Despite the criticism, many religious names are deeply embedded in cultural traditions and have been passed down through generations.
For example, in many cultures, biblical or other religious names (like Mary, John, or Mohammed) have been traditionally given to children as a way of preserving heritage and honouring ancestry.
Religious names often carry deep spiritual or symbolic meanings, reflecting qualities such as virtue, faith, or devotion to God. For example, "Faith" and "Grace" are Christian-inspired names that represent positive spiritual qualities.
Meanwhile, names like "Noah" (Hebrew for "rest" or "comfort") or "Fatima" (a revered name in Islamic culture) are chosen for the meanings associated with them in religious contexts.
Plenty of celebrities are also fond of monikers that have religious connotations. Kim Kardashian is the person who has inspired others to opt for the name 'Saint'.
Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin called their son Moses, Will Ferrell and Viveca Paulin picked Matthias and Amy Poehler and Will Arnett were drawn to the name Abel. The possibilites are endless!

Dimes Square is being turned into 'Spritz Square,' in honor of the iconic summer drink
Do you remember a few years ago when The New York Times tried to tell us that Aperol Spritzes weren't good? Well, clearly, I do, as I am still talking about it six years later. Personally, I love the bitter-leaning cocktail, particularly in the warmer months when I want equal parts interest and bubbles. I'm certainly not alone in my love affair, as the summery cocktail has slowly reappeared on menus (or really, they never left), primed and ready for a rooftop romp or an outing on a patio. Heck, even a European currency company started its very own tracker of where to find the cheapest spritz across the continent. Not to be outdone, Aperol's sister's spirit has something to say. Throwing its hat in the ring for the leading spritz of the summer is the Campari spritz. Made with Campari (duh), this version is a tad drier and more intense in its bitterness but still just as refreshing. Making its own stake on the season, the deep red liqueur is taking over a popular corner of Manhattan for a summer of spritz. This June, the iconic liqueur will be painting Dimes Square red, transforming it into Campari Spritz Square. Taking over 171 East Broadway, the aperitivo experience will offer curated food offerings, deals at local businesses in the area, and, naturally, spritzes. The two-day pop-up, taking place on June 14 and 15, offers two sit-down experiences in the micro-neighborhood. Each table will receive complimentary Campari spritzes, limited to two per person, paired with light bites and music from a live DJ. After you've properly been 'spritzed,' now is the time to shop, as the brand has partnered with three popular businesses in the area. Check out bespoke jewelry from Susan Alexandra, and vCampari-inspired art at the design shop-slash-gallery Coming fashion-forward clothing store, Colbo, will be hosting its own spritz-and-shop set-up with tunes, light bites and more chances to sip on the iconic cocktail. While the experience is complimentary, reservations are required. As of this writing, the event is currently sold out on Resy. But don't worry just yet, as more tickets are expected to drop next week. (Reserve your spot here.) Keep an eye out, so you can start your summer with spritz in hand.

Would you pay £575 for a Britney Spears tour T-shirt?
The Balenciaga portion of that doesn't seem to be too seismic – 4 per cent according to Kering – which is a saving grace considering what has come before; a 2023 controversy that almost destroyed the house. First of all, a campaign featuring children holding teddy bears in leather bondage gear. Weird, but not unexpected in Balenciagaland. Then the truly mind boggling follow up; a campaign featuring Isabelle Huppert and some product placed amongst some seemingly innocuous objects. Except on closer inspection – via ever-present social media sleuths – one stack of documents were Supreme Court rulings on child pornography, and another featured a diploma with a name that happens to also be that of a convicted abuser. The result was a Balenciaga bomb going off at the heart of the Kering conglomerate, with celebrity denouncements from avid fans like Kim Kardashian, who said on her Instagram stories and on Twitter that she was 'shaken' by the images, and subsequent apologies from the house. Then CEO Cédric Charbit said at the time; 'I want to personally reiterate my sincere apologies for the offence caused and take my responsibility.' The statement pointed out that a third party prop's company supplied the materials on the shoot in question. In March this year, it was announced that Demna Gvasalia would be leaving Balenciaga. His destination, however, was a curveball; Kering choppering him into Gucci, its spangly jewel in the crown, a house of hi falutin glamour and those distinctive double G branded bags. Granted, Demna knows how to create buzz with logomania – although how much design nous it takes to emblazon your brand name across everything and anything is debatable – but Gucci's signature sense of seduction, throughout all of its iterations from Tom Ford to Alessandro Michele, isn't something Demna's dark arts dabble in. His is a deliberately jarring, quirky-ugly aesthetic that doesn't seem to tally with what Gucci stands for. Time will tell whether the house that once sold us must-have bags and defined the 1990s (and early 2020s) fashion is ready for a darkly turbulent aesthetic. Granted, Balenciaga couture can make some exceptionally beautiful clothes – as exhibited on the Cannes red carpet by Balenciaga ambassador Isabelle Huppert – but that's the rarity rather than the rule. Balenciaga is set to be taken over by Pier Paolo Piccioli, an Italian designer known for his sense of romance and feminine exuberance.

Samuel L Jackson reveals horror moment he was dragged by a subway train
Samuel L Jackson has recalled the terrifying moment he was convinced he was going to die after a freak accident on the subway. In a candid new interview, the Pulp Fiction actor opened up about the moment he was 'dragged by a subway train' when he was younger, sharing that he never got the sensation of his life flashing before his eyes. During an appearance on Paloma Faith's Mad Sad Bad podcast, the 76-year-old unpacked his ordeal, declaring: 'That whole thing about your life passing before you, it's like, 'Eh, not really,'. Everything does slow down, though. 'I got dragged by a subway train in New York in 1990. I got dragged by the A train. Fortunately, I was in the middle door of the last car, and it was a long-ass train station. 'When the door closed on my foot, train took off. I'm sitting there thinking, 'Oh, f**k, I'm going to die.' 'I could see the tunnel coming, and I couldn't figure out anything that I could grab or hold on to and get close to the train so I wouldn't get killed in the tunnel. 'It just slowed down really, really slow until all of a sudden the train stopped.' Shedding light on his mindset during that moment, Samuel admitted that he was focused on the incident ruining Christmas for his loved ones – including wife LaTonya Richardson and their daughter, Zoe. 'When I was being dragged, all I could think of was, it was going to be a really sad Christmas, because it was like a few days before Christmas,' the Marvel legend continued. 'So I was going to miss my birthday and all that. I was like, 'Damn, it's going to be f**ked up. It's going to be a f**ked up Christmas this year.'' The Django Unchained star was heavily injured in the accident, and tore his ACL and meniscus – he was in physical therapy for over a year and spent 10 months on crutches. He later took legal action and sued the transit system, and was eventually awarded $540k. More Trending It was only when he got to court for a hearing that he learned what happened that day, and that a man rushed to action and saved his life. 'I was a car-and-a-half from the tunnel when it stopped,' he added to Paloma. 'The guy who pulled the emergency cord was on crutches. 'Everybody else in there was trying to open the door, get my foot out the door, push and push and pull and try and take my shoe off. And he was going to the emergency cord, and he finally pulled it and stopped it. 'Things slow down when you're looking at death. I've been in car accidents and if I see them, it's almost like everything is slowing down and you know there's nothing you can do to get out of the way.' Got a story?
