I'm a beauty writer and found a way to get Medik8 £45 anti-ageing retinal for £4.50
The edit contains 11 dermatological skincare formulas each boasting high-performance ingredients, from brands including Medik8, Augustinus Bader and more
This Medik8 Crystal Retinal is worth £49 alone
Over the past year, I've found myself gradually moving away from trend-led skincare and leaning more into dermatological, science-backed formulas . As someone who has tested beauty products for a decade, I would apply almost any product to my face without a second thought - but over time, it's not been kind to my skin barrier, which has led me to a long-term skin health journey that focuses on clinical backing and proven ingredients.
Dermatological Skincare seems to be a growing trend for 2025, with retailers like Boots even having dedicated sections in store for such edits. Like many people, I've grown more aware of how ingredients impact the skin, particularly as I start to notice early signs of ageing and want to focus on prevention rather than short-term benefits.
One product I've been using as part of my nightly routine is the Medik8 Crystal Retinal 1, which is a potent retinal formula which is said to be 11x more powerful than regular retinol. The product is a firm favourite with This Morning beauty expert Nadine Baggott, who has worked her way up the various strengths of the product and claims it to be the secret behind her age-defying skin.

I received the sensitive-friendly, beginner version of the formula in a beauty Easter Egg earlier this year and as I approached the end of my tube, I was looking to purchase the next strength up. But at £49, I knew I - a self-confessed bargain hunter - would want to find some way to save a few quid on it. So when I spotted LookFantastic's Dermatological Edit containing the exact product I'd had my eye on, I knew it was worth a closer look.
The edit contains 11 dermatological skincare formulas each boasting high-performance ingredients. The haul is worth £170, but is priced at £50 , which is only £1 more than what I would have paid for the Medik8 Crystal Retinal 3 on its own.

Discover everything you need to enter your best skin ever era, with 11 science-backed skincare heroes, formulated to target skin concerns.
I loved how the Crystal Retinal 1 gently introduced vitamin A into my routine without any irritation. I could have probably gone straight in with the Crystal Retinal 3, which is suited to 'beginners', but as I mentioned earlier, my skin barrier has had a bit of a tough time of late so I wanted to start super slowly and when I was ready to level up to strength 3, this box offered the most cost-effective way to do it.
Medik8's Crystal Retinal 3 delivers all the radiance and firmness I've come to expect, while remaining gentle on my skin, which is a big win. I apply it in the evening, follow with a moisturiser, and wake up to visibly smoother, more refreshed skin. And while I'd have happily paid £50 for the LookFantastic Edit solely for this formula, it's not the only impressive product tucked inside, with some of the most trusted names in derm-grade beauty - including La Roche-Posay, Augustinus Bader, Bioderma, and First Aid Beauty - also featured.
Augustinus Bader is a brand famously used by celebrities such as Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Aniston. A 15ml vial of their eye cream would usually set shoppers back £160, but the edit contains a mini version worth £32, allowing for a taste of luxury I'd have otherwise never afforded. I must admit, it's an incredibly indulgent cream that works wonders on my puffy under eyes, but it's not something I'd ever be able to justify rebuying. Maybe that's the downside to curated edits offering insane value like this, because I get hooked on products that my bank balance won't stretch to when I run out.
Augustinus Bader's eye cream - this mini version is worth £32
I was also impressed by the Bioderma Sebium Kerato+ Anti-Blemish Gel-Cream, worth £18, which has been formulated for blemish-prone skin and works to improve skin texture and refine pore visibility. Meanwhile, the Cetaphil Daily Defence Cream SPF50 with UVA/UVB filters, has become a daily essential, not just for when the sun peeks out, but to help prevent early signs of ageing.
I wasn't a fan of every single product inside the edit, though. The [coat]s Purifying Hydrating Clay Cleanser is a dual-action formula that removes excess oil and de-clogs pores, revealing refreshed, balanced skin. However, as someone with already quite dry skin, this wasn't suitable for me, but at least it didn't go to waste as I was able to give it to my sister, who does have more combination skin than me.
Everything inside the LookFantastic Dermatological Skincare Edit, £50
LookFantastic aren't the only retailer to be offering beauty buffs amazing value with a curated haul of products, though. That said, they were the only ones I could find offering a dermatological-specific edit.
Elsewhere, Boots has launched a Self Care Beauty Box that is valued at £137, but costs £34. Designed to promote daily self care and pampering, the edit features a handpicked selection of 12 skincare, haircare and body care goodies from brands like Estee Lauder, No7 and Wella. More than half of the contents are full sizes, too, each working out at £2.83 as part of the offer. By comparison, the items in the LookFantastic edit work out at £4.55 each.

Space NK has also got a fun haul, inspired by the viral TikTok trend, o f 'the everything shower' . The luxury edit of bath, body, and haircare costs £70 and is worth £165, boasting names like Sol de Janeiro, Living Proof and Alpha-H.

‘So glossy' £17 shine-boosting hair mask that rivals professional treatments

Shoppers are praising the glossy, shiny results of this new five-minute hair mask, saying it leaves your hair looking like you've just stepped out of the hair salon Shiny hair always looks expensive, we think, but it's not always easy to achieve; dry, damaged or bleached hair in particular can often struggle to reflect the light in a flattering way without the help of professional treatments. However, shoppers think they've hit upon an at-home solution that gives salon-worthy shine for a fraction of the price. Moroccanoil's new High Shine Gloss Mask has stacked up dozens of really impressive five-star reviews online, with shoppers calling it "a must-have in between salon visits" and "one of the best hair masks [they] have ever used". While a large 200ml tube costs £28 from retailers such as Lookfantastic and Sephora, you can also buy a smaller 75ml bottle for £17 – ideal if you want to try it out for less first. Formulated with something called 'ArganID technology', this five-minute mask "instantly boosting shine while also revitalising hair colour between appointments", says Moroccan oil. In the brand's trials, 95% of users said it gave their hair a gloss-like finish, while 96% said hair felt richly conditioned. And Sephora shoppers clearly agree. "I have to say I really liked this mask. After using it, my hair felt super soft and had such a beautiful shine. It wasn't greasy or heavy, just smooth and glossy in the best way. I got a bunch of compliments, which never hurts!" one person wrote, adding, "What really surprised me was how long it it's one of those products I'd definitely keep using when I want my hair to look extra polished without a ton of effort." "It is quick and easy to use. My hair felt so soft, smooth and shiny. It made it look healthy and my hair colour is more vibrant," another review reads. " I felt like I just got off the salon after this treatment. Highly recommend." A third person agreed, writing: "The high class shine mask is literally perfect for my hair. I always love the scents of Moroccan oil products and this one is no exception. Even my husband asked if I had just gone to the salon after using this product." Not every customer was completely won over though, with one person calling it "a really nice shine treatment" but saying that "I personally have very fine, thin hair and do feel like this weighs my hair down vs similar products I've tried." If this sounds like something you might be concerned about too, you might want to instead try something like OUAI Fine-Medium Hair Treatment Masque, £34, or Philip Kingsley's cult classic Elasticizer Intensive Treatment, currently reduced to £31.20.

Anti-ageing Medik8 SPF hailed for not leaving ‘sticky or residue' is on sale

If you're looking for a skincare gem that battles visible signs of ageing while also protecting your skin from UV damage through the summer and beyond, look no further than this Medik8 cream Step up your skincare routine with a multi-tasking cream from the cult-favourite beauty brand Medik8, and save some cash at the same time. This Medik8 Advanced Day Ultimate Protect SPF50+ works to tackle visible signs of ageing while also protecting against future damage that can contribute to complexion woes. Normally retailing for £59, this anti-ageing SPF cream is currently on sale at Lookfantastic with a whopping 20% off, saving shoppers £12. The daily hydrating day cream with SPF50+ PA++++ protects the skin from UV rays and pollution and banishes signs of premature ageing. Defending against the sun's rays, the Medik8 Advanced Day Ultimate Protect keeps your skin safe from UVA/UVB rays, blue light, infrared light, and pollution. The formula utilises advanced UV filters to deliver high-performance protection against sunlight. Encapsulated photolyase, an enzyme derived from plankton extract, helps to minimise the visible signs of ageing caused by UV rays, such as fine lines, crow's feet, wrinkles, and dark spots. The moisturiser uses the brand's unique 360° environmental shield. Its formula contains blueberry seed oil and carnosine, which work to prevent skin damage from oxidative stressors. The cream also contains hyaluronic acid and squalane, which hydrate the skin, leaving it feeling protected and nourished all day long. During Medik8's tests, 94% of users agreed that the Advanced Day Ultimate Protect leaves the skin feeling moisturised all day, perfect for this time of year when the warmer, drier weather leaves skin parched and in need of nourishment. Over at Lookfantastic, plenty of customers have shared their love for this skincare gem. One 5-star reviewer writes: "Very happy to use this daycream, not only because of its spf but also for his hydrating. Even though it is a cream rather than a lotion , my foundation still goes on smoothly and not greasy. It's a winner." Further praise comes from this shopper who says: "Like all medik8 products, it's perfect! Easy to apply, rich moisturiser and it's giving full protection from harmful rays. It's still lovely as a base for foundation and doesn't feel greasy at all on my combination skin. It's my second tube and I'm a big fan." A third buyer beams: " Love this moisturiser with sunscreen. It works and my skin feels great and protected all day. Highly recommend for someone who is short of tine in the morning." And even more accolades come from this customer who raves: "I do have hyper sensitive skin and getting rushing from everything, this cream is the only one that works for me- no break outs! Will buy again, it gives skin light summer glow and protection is perfect. Definitely recommend!" A fifth gushes: "I have used various other SPF 50 sunscreens previously and they have always had down sides such as being too greasy on the skin or not sitting well under make-up. Not with this one! This is absorbed very quickly and feels extremely hydrating yet non-greasy! No pilling under make-up either! Well done Medik8!" And this shopper shares: " My go to sunscreen! Keeping me young forever! I love the fact that it has PA++++ which protects my skin from the screen damage!" You can pick up this SPF cream from Lookfantastic or Amazon at the reduced price of £47.20. Or, if you don't mind paying the full price, Sephora, Cult Beauty, and Medik8 are selling it for £59.

I found a way to get £55 'facial in a bottle' serum for £7.50 in LookFantastic's summer edit

I found a way to get £55 'facial in a bottle' serum for £7.50 in LookFantastic's summer edit The Summer Heroes Edit is priced at £45 yet valued at over £150, boasting savings of more than £100 Inside the LookFantastic Summer Heores edit for £45 It feels as though there's a new beauty box released every single week, with high street favourites often battling it out to offer the best value for money and most exciting, relevant and sought-after products. And this week, I've taken a peek inside LookFantastic's Summer Heroes Edit, which delivers a rather covetable haul of makeup and skincare for under £50. The edit is priced at £45 yet valued at over £150, boasting savings of more than £100. It not only balances indulgence and practicality, but also a great mix of higher end and more affordable brands too, ranging from Color Wow and Caudalie, to Iconic and Sol de Janeiro. Four of the six items are full-sized, meaning they'll see you right the way through the summer months and beyond, and as part of the set, each one works out at £7.50 apiece. It's pretty impressive, seeing as the featured ESPA Optimal Skin Pro Serum is worth £55 alone. READ MORE: Skin essential which makes you look 'lit from within' slashed by £20 at Boots READ MORE: Hand luggage bag that's the 'perfect fit for Ryanair' now has a massive 45% off LookFantastic's edits are often popular with shoppers - and for good reason - but there are some other beauty hauls that offer even better value when it comes to the average cost-per-item. ASOS recently launched their Luxury Travel Essentials Beauty Box for £40. It's worth £135 and contains eight products from top brands, including Elemis, Laneige, Sol de Janeiro and Elizabeth Arden, each averaging at £5 a pop. Then there's Boots' Get Holiday Ready Bag, valued at £124.50. The seven-piece edit is priced at £32, which means each item averages out at £4.57- making it slightly better value than ASOS, not to mention it's the cheapest of all three. Brands featured include Sol de Janeiro and Laneige, but also Milk, Bobbi Brown, MAC and more. But the LookFantastic set has been flooded with compliments from shoppers who ordered it. In fact, almost every review has been five stars, save for a single four-star rating. One shopper said: 'This box was worth it for the Espa and Color Wow products alone. Such a lovely little affordable luxury, any one of these items would be considered a 'treat' to myself usually." The ESPA and Color Wow products are what impressed me and many other shoppers the most Another added: 'Brought this box as I wanted to try the Espa serum, which is amazing. Have tried all the other products, which are equally as good. I love trying new products. Will buy a second one.' One said that the Sol de Janeiro cream was 'smaller than I expected', but still rated the edit five stars, adding: 'I love all the products especially the bronzing drops.' While a fourth penned: 'Amazing value box, I had to buy two. It's worth it for the Espa serum alone!' A personal favourite of mine was the inclusion of the Color Wow Pop & Lock High Gloss Finish, worth £22.50. Among its fans is Claudia Winkleman's stylist, Amy Short, who revealed she uses it on The Traitors' star to achieve her covetable shine. I've used the mini version for months and love how it effortlessly tames flyaways while adding shine without making my hair greasy, so the box made for a great opportunity to stock up on the full size. The products inside the box are worth a combined £150 The Caudalie Beauty Elixir is another must-have in my summer beauty arsenal. It's a fantastic multi-functional product that can be used as a toner, setting spray or midday refresh. Its spa-like botanical scent and skin-calming properties make it a staple that I find myself reaching for repeatedly throughout the day. The box's hero product, the ESPA Optimal Skin Pro Serum is ideal for anyone battling dry skin, made worse by the humid weather. It delivers hydration and radiance in a formula that feels like a facial in a bottle. It's no wonder multiple shoppers snapped up a second box for this product alone. Inside the LookFantastic Summer Heores edit for £45 No summer edit would be complete without a nod to the beach-body classic, Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. It is only a small tub, but it's the perfect size for traveling and the scent is insanely addictive. There's also Eucerin's Sun Face Pigment Control SPF 50 - a lightweight SPF that provides sun protection while sitting beautifully under makeup. The only product in the edit I wasn't sold by were Iconic London's Instant Sunshine Bronzing Drops. The button used to dispense the product had broken which made it tricky to use the product, and when I did manage to get some out, I found it way too dark for my skin tone. That's not to say that others wouldn't love it, though. A recap of what's in the Edit: Article continues below ESPA Optimal Skin Pro Serum 30ml (Full-Size) - Worth £55 Eucerin Sun Face Pigment Control SPF 50 50ml (Full-Size) - Worth £24 Iconic London Instant Sunshine Bronzing Drops 13ml(Full-Size) - Worth £22 Color Wow Pop & Lock High Gloss Finish 55ml (Full-Size)- Worth Over £22 Caudalie Beauty Elixir 30ml (Deluxe-Size) - Worth £18 Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream 25ml (Deluxe-Size) - Worth £10 While there are beauty boxes available at the moment that are more affordable or offer better value for money than the Summer Heroes Edit, what I will say about it as a beauty writer who has reviewed dozens of edits is that this one does feel like it's been really thoughtfully created with products that effortlessly slot into everyday routines and feel relevant to the time of year. The majority of items are full-sized, and those that aren't are perfect for travelling with, plus it's a really great opportunity to indulge in high-end, high-performance products at a fraction of the cost.
