UK man appears in court over Liverpool car collision that hurt dozens
LIVERPOOL, England, May 30 (Reuters) - A British man appeared in court on Friday charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a car ploughed into a crowd of Liverpool soccer fans during this week's victory parade.
Paul Doyle, from the West Derby area of Liverpool, is charged with seven offences including dangerous driving and two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The 53-year-old appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Friday morning and confirmed his name, address and date of birth before the case was briefly adjourned.
The incident took place in Liverpool's packed city centre on Monday evening, as around a million people had come out to celebrate Liverpool's Premier League win and watch an open-top bus parade the team and its staff with the trophy.

It's a relatively usual contract length for a 22-year-old compared to the ones handed out throughout Todd Boehly's cash-happy regime. Enzo Fernandez penned an eight-and-a-half-year contract when he signed for Chelsea, as did Mykhailo Mudryk. The Blues implemented this structure in order to write off the cost of a player over a longer period (the length of their contract). Delap won't break records at Chelsea, with his £30m release clause becoming active after Ipswich were relegated from the Premier League. Maresca is a big fan of the England youth international, who's set to play at the under-21 European Championship this month, and wants him to challenge Nicolas Jackson for a starting place at Stamford Bridge next season. "To compare Liam with Harry Kane and Erling Haaland, I think it's a bit early," the Chelsea manager said in April. "But for sure, in terms of style he's that kind of player. They are all real nines. They are No. 9s inside the box. "But we also have a good No. 9 [in Jackson]. He's doing well since we started. Unfortunately, we've missed him, and sometimes you need to miss players to realise how important they are for you. "With Nico, we are a completely different team compared to when he was injured. We concluded: 'The general consensus of opinion was that a better trial had never been, or one to which more merit was attached to a reward, while, as to sport, no man could wish for better.' Since then, more notoriously difficult sections have been added, most famously Beggars Roost (in 1922) and Blue Hills (in 1936), and the Land's End Trial continues to challenge the best trials drivers and cars.
